PHASE TWO MARCH UPDATE

WEST CLUBHOUSE FITNESS CENTER RENOVATION

On Feb. 24, the Missouri Athletic Club celebrated the opening of the Phase Two fitness upgrades at the West Clubhouse. The Board of Governors approved moving forward with the extensive project at their August 2019 meeting, and since then, updates and renovations have been in progress in a large section of the West Clubhouse.

With the exception of a couple areas, the Phase Two project has reopened to members, who’ve been enjoying brand-new, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in the new cardio room, group exercise rooms, spinning studio and youth classroom. The youth classroom will be home to Preschool Camp, art camps, Lego camps, little medical school camps, science camps, after school

study halls and more. Athletic director Jeff Tuhro said the youth activity room and in-house physical therapy services are still to come.

In the meantime, members have a chance to try out the brand new class schedules. Tuhro recommends coming out and trying something new and experiencing all these upgrades have to offer.

“We really want everyone to come out and see it in person,” he said. “We’re going to be running these class schedules for 90-120 days [from opening], then we’ll make necessary adjustments based on timing and interest.”

Tuhro notes that if members are hesitant to try out new technology like AudioFetch, where they can listen to TV audio directly from their smartphone or mobile device, or the Stages Flight technology in the spinning studio to ask a staff member for help. Employees like West Clubhouse Fitness Manager Paul Helfrich and Group Class Coordinator Susan Tramelli are happy to help acclimate members to the spaces’ new features.

“We’re so excited to finally get this all open,” Tuhro said. “Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while we’ve been working to improve your facilities.”
