PICKLEBALL: STAYING IN THE GAME

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States with more than 5 million people playing. As the sport grows in popularity, pickleball-related injuries are on the rise as well.

Pickleball injuries can sideline a player for weeks to months at a time. At SSM Health Physical Therapy, our therapists help players return to the court quickly and effectively. We help athletes recover from a variety of injuries, including muscle strains, ligament sprains and fractures.

We also work with athletes who wish to decrease their risk of a future injury, as well as athletes who feel physically restricted in their performance. Whether beginner or advanced, young or old, our goal is to keep players in the game for longer and to play at their highest level.

After an in-depth evaluation and assessment, our therapist will provide an individualized treatment plan that may include:

• Muscle strengthening

• Addressing motor control and body mechanics to refine technique

• Targeted stretches for soft tissue and joint restrictions

• Cardiovascular and endurance training

• Balance, speed and agility work

• Proper warm-up and cool-down to reduce injury

Our specially trained therapists may also provide you with:

• Blood flow restriction

• Footwear recommendations/orthotics

• Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

• Manual therapy techniques

• Dry needling

• Athletic taping
