M issou r i St at e Fair vot ed t h e Best in M issou r i Since the first Fair in 1901, thousands of Missouri families have made the annual ?pilgrimage? to Sedalia. Despite numerous differences, the Fair exhibitors of 1901 and today share an important common element. That common denominator is competition ? the desire to put your efforts against your neighbor ?s best. Since the first State Fair, the reward has been ribbons, premium money and recognition. But the long-term effect of this healthy competition has been a steady improvement in Missouri?s agriculture, agribusiness, domestic arts and, today, even fine arts. From 1901 to today, the Missouri State Fair has been a barometer of the state?s economic health and a documentary of the history of Missouri agriculture. The Missouri State Fair plays an essential role in keeping agriculture one of Missouri?s top industries. In addition to the activities of the eleven-day Missouri State Fair, the fairgrounds are utilized on a year-round basis to capture an even broader audience. On average, the Missouri State Fairgrounds are used for more than 350 days a year. Off-season usage accounts for approximately half the fairgrounds?annual attendance, drawing over 300,000 visitors to various events, including camper rallies, livestock shows, organized athletic leagues and tournaments, craft shows and youth rallies.

Won der s of Wildlif e Nat ion al M u seu m an d Aqu ar iu m vot ed BEST M u seu m Johnny Morris?Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium consists of an 1.5-million-gallon aquarium adventure showcasing 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles and birds, and immersive wildlife galleries that bring visitors eye-to-eye with the greatest collection of record-setting game animals ever assembled. Located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, the 350,000-square-foot experience celebrates people who hunt, fish, and act as stewards of the land and water. Wonders of Wildlife is a gift to the sportsmen and women of America from noted conservationist, angler and Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. Johnny endeavored to create a world-class not-for-profit conservation attraction located in his hometown, Springfield, Missouri, next to Bass Pro Shops?flagship headquarters store ? where half the nation?s population lives within a day?s drive. Featuring an immersive design with surprises around every corner and more than 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds, the $300 million not-for-profit Wonders of Wildlife is unlike any other aquarium on earth. Fans cite the aquarium?s over-the-top multisensory habitats, engaging interactive exhibits and strong conservation ethic as defining features that set Wonders of Wildlife apart. Larger than the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the not-for-profit attraction is the world?s grandest tribute to the conservation movement and the adventurers, explorers, outdoorsmen and conservationists who helped discover, develop and preserve the nation we love.

M issou r i's Best M et eor ologist & TV Weat h er For ecast er Zach Pau l You have seen Zach Paul giving you a forecast in every newscast KRCG has. Zach has been a member of the KRCG weather team since May of 2003 and has served many roles. Before KRCG, Zach was an assistant weather producer at KMBC-TV in Kansas City. It was there he interned and trained with one of the best meteorologists in the nation, Bryan Busby. Zach attributes his love for the weather and his passion to Bryan, who visited his elementary school when he was in the 3rd grade. It was at this young age Zach was bitten by the "weather- bug." Growing up in Kansas City, Zach has seen his fair share of Missouri weather. Like many kids, Zach was afraid of thunderstorms as a child. But he has grown out of that and made this fear a passion. Zach enjoys chasing these thunderstorms and even the tornadoes that drop from them. The most active day in Central Missouri that sticks out is March 12, 2006. An F-3 passed near the towns of Marshall, Arrow Rock, and Moberly; as well as an F-2 passing right through Sedalia and Gravois Mills. Zach studied atmospheric science at the University of Missouri. While there, he co-authored a paper and did research on the Frequency of Occluded Frontal Occurrences over North America that was submitted to the Electronic Journal of Operational Meteorology. Zach is also a member of the National Weather Association as well as a member of the American Meteorological Society. When not forecasting, Zach stays busy. He loves helping out local charities and is involved with many organizations in Mid-Missouri such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, and several Veterans programs. He has been an active supporter of Special Olympics Missouri since 2005 and is regularly involved in the annual Polar Plunge. Zach is also a board member for the Rape Abuse Crisis Service (RACS) in Jefferson City. He regularly emcees events for many charities and local organizations and welcomes the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported him. In his free time, he loves to travel. Snow skiing in the Rockies and a trip to Las Vegas have been known to happen from time to time. But despite his love for traveling, Zach also enjoys spending down time with his family, son Cameron, and friends.

When a customer comes into Hulett Chevrolet Buick GMC to find a new car, they will notice an important difference in service from other dealerships. Starting at the door, they?ll be greeted by Hulett sales staff, and whomever they meet is who will be helping them for the rest of the day. At Hulett Chevrolet Buick GMC, customers aren?t passed off to multiple people. Rather, they?re treated to a one-on-one experience for the duration of their visit. ?That sort of start-to-finish experience is rare in our business,? says Jason Hulett, dealer principal. We pride ourselves on a no pressure experience. Whether you come in for sales, service or repair, it?s a no-hassle, friendly experience,? says Ryan Hulett. The dealership was originally opened in 1965 by Hulett?s grandfather and father then Jason took over in 2004. He and his brother, Ryan, who serves as general manager and co-owner now handle the day-to-day operations. Today, they sell Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC alongside pre-owned cars of all makes and models. Hulett?s favorite part of the business is supporting his team of thirty-six employees and interacting with customers, whom he has a special message for. ?I?d like to say thank you to the people in the area. We are so honored to have served the lake community for the last fifty-four years. We love being involved in the community and serving community projects.? Each year, the dealership gives back through various charities and organizations in the area. The historic building was build in 1909. Also, well known for their antiques and homemade goodies. Caledonia is rich with Scottish history. Main street was built in the mid 1800s. The town today is unspoiled by time. Caledonia is a National Historic District with 33 homes and businesses on the national register. The town of the century, Caledonia, at one time had 4 general stores, an old hardware store, and stage coach inn used in the civil war as a hospital for the union army. Also, a cheese factory and black smith shop. Caledonia has the oldest continuous masonic lodge over 175 years old and the oldest Presbyterian Church west of the Mississippi. The historic society owns the church and has it open for tours and can be rented for special occasions. Today the Old Village Mercantile is the only business to survive time in tact with all originality. The rest of the historic district is preserved as homes, shops, and restaurants.

providing the leadership and example for all of us!? M ich elle Ger lt - f r ien d ?Stacey has a way of looking at the world and the people in a way that most others can?t or won?t. Where some would only see flaws, she can find the beauty. She can find humor in places where others would only see anger or bitterness. She can see what is real underneath it all, and what really matters. She talks about being a people watcher, but I think that is what makes her notice the raw truths and vulnerabilities of what makes us human. Because of that, she is one of the most empathetic people I?ve ever met. I think if she was born hundreds of years ago, she would have
been one of those wise women that people came from miles and miles to see to get advice. I love listening to her talk and tell stories. She can hold a room captive with her wit, her smile, and her commanding presence. I?ve shared more laughs with her than I can count, and probably just as many tears, both happy and sad. She is a true and loyal friend, a devoted wife and mother, and a champion of her community. Most of all, she is just a one-of-a-kind, amazing human being.?
