BEHIND THE SCENES
For Spring and Summer 2010, its all about healthy shiny hair. To get the look, Beauty Editor, Eugene Davis recommends these products: Moisturfusion experience by Mizani, Moistufusion milk bath to shampoo and follow up with Moisturfusion silk cream conditioner for the ultimate luxury treatment for your hair. New Year’s resolutions - the year starts with a long list of resolutions . As usual, most of us start off on a good note, then we gradually crawl back into our old shells. This year, its all about consistent changes, more importantly finding what works for me. My New years resolution is simply; learning how to live the moment and creating a ‘me’ time where I do absolutely nothing; some say that’s impossible but I say- its possible! Off course I was not the only one who had to reveal their resolutions, here’s what the team had to say:
Eugene Davis, Beauty Editor; To have a deeper faith that God can and will do it for me, believe that I am destined for greatness and not let my foolish insecurities stand in the way of making the impossible, possible. I’m knocking down barriers in 2010.
Fred Nwonwu, Lifestyle & Culture writer; No more slacking, to take the bull by horn and throw it into my achievement bag as soon as it comes around. Did I mention my resolve to get married to Miss right this year?
Tinu Adesugba, Events Coordinator; To eat less junk and eat more healthy food and also keep to my fitness regime and not only exercise my body but my mind.
D’Andre Michael Creative Photographer Be Productive, Stay Healthy, Have Prosperity, Succeed Finally I would like to wish all of you an amazing Year ahead. Enjoy life and don’t forget to stay fabulous!

With fashion’s new palette made up of nudes and neutral, the soft and serene colours gives our fashion wardrobe a detox. The cool fresh ideas of the new season makes room for the new year; texture and shape is of most importance with the absence of strong colours but a reflection of beauty being angelic and pure.

Iron man When Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2 most people where surprised. Jim Rhodes said “negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons.” But Howard said that is all one big surprise to him. That said, I think Don Cheadle can pull off a stellar performance.

Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson. Shad In 2008 Ontario rapper shad’s album ‘old prince’ got a Polaris nomination. It is said that the clip for ‘compromises’ caught Kanye West’s attention and held it.
Esme
e De
Born Shadrach Kabango in Kenya to Rwandan parentage, Shad has grown from the rapper that haunted talent competitions at Wilfrid Laurier University where he won 91.5 The Beat’s Rhythm of the Future talent competition during his time as an undergraduate student, He financed his first album ‘When This Is Over’ in 2005 with the $17, 500 he won. The album is noted for its social leaning lyrics.
nters
It was Esmee who had, at age 17 uploaded a webcam video of herself singing three years later she has become so popular on youtube that she got signed on Justine Timberlake’s record label. Esmee is definitely one of the top artists to watch this year. Her unique R&B style sets her apart. Her videos on youtube are definitely addictive and her charismatic innocence is infectious. The next thing we knew was that this 20 year old lassie was in the studio, penning down songs with Justin and Ryan Tedder (of the “One Republic” fame).
Georgina Hardinge
Georgina Hardinge graduated from Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in 2008 and has since paired creatively with Samsumg and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. After being awarded the ‘the Golden Thimble’ for best designer Georgia’s graduate collection has already cemented her as an innovated force to be reckoned with. For SS10 we see a seductive use of pattern and structure which tips the boundaries of fashion and reality yet are balanced with sympathetic design resulting in a collection, both sensual and wearable, familiar yet progressive. Avant garde tailoring produces highly controlled pieces, an inspiration of landscape, its relief flowing through juxtaposing the futurism of sculpture with femininity, empowering the figure without harshening femininity.

By the time he was signed by Black Box Recording in 2007 and released his second album ‘old prince’ which received a Juno Award nomination for Rap Recording of the Year, and nominated the 2008 Polaris Music Prize nomination, Shad was well on his way. Shad is not just a rap head as he is bilingual in English and French, holds a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is studying part-time towards a master’s degree in liberal studies at Simon Fraser University. His style has been likened to that of K-os and Common.
The Twilight Saga-Eclipse Most people took Director David Slade serious when he spoke against the Twilight series, stating that he wouldn’t go near the franchise. A little while later he was announced as the director of Eclipse, he quickly withdrew his previous remarks, claiming it to be a joke he was doing to promote some comedy shorts. Plot: Bella Swan must choose between vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black; meanwhile, Victoria, the leftover evil vampire from the first movie, comes back for revenge and Bella must decide whether to become immortal of remain human. Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner Director: David Slade Aside from the fact that the world is mostly populated with teenagers seeking their darker side which this movie provides in diverse ways, the movie is so highly anticipated it has several unofficial blogs dedicated to it, run by dedicated fans.

Where are you from originally? My parents are both from Ghana. My mum is Dutch / Ghanaian and my dad’s Ghanaian. They moved to the United Kingdom 30 years ago where I was born and raised. I am the Second child of Three but my elder brother passed into the lords glory earlier though. Can you give us a brief rundown on your early life? I was a very shy child, who only felt comfortable around those I knew well. My parents gave me books on how to be assertive as they thought my shyness would be a problem for me later on in life. I was always perceived as a good child who worked hard at school. I was very active and participated in most sports namely, sprint, basketball, netball, football, tennis, volley ball, swimming and ice skating. One of my future ambitions was to be an athlete. How did you become a model? Terry Jacques, a friend and hairdresser at the time gave me a direct link. He made a phone call to my present agency, So Dam Tuff and told me to meet with a certain Annette. It was all so over whelming and sudden but I
did go though. After a few necessaries I got signed with the agency.
Do you have any present projects you are handling at the moment, and what are they? I have started my own company called The LookBook Factory, helping aspiring models, teaching them about the industry and how to go about it in the correct way, as well as connecting them to the right people. I want to be able to pass on my knowledge and expertise. The LookBook is currently working with Model House the film and will be casting for it in the near future. Recent projects include hosting World brides which took place at the Mayfair hotel. And producing a fashion show at the proud gallery. You were in an H & M commerical with Madonna. What was it like working with her? It was a great experience and one that I am happy to have had. Madonna is a fascinating woman, who works hard and is very meticulous. She knows exactly what she wants, with great vision and tenacity. At first it almost seemed as if she was being too strict but I soon realised that, to be the best you have to make sure every little

Side View FEATURE detail is in place and if it wasn’t correct we would do it again until it was. She is where she is because of what she puts in, which is 100 %. I absolutely love her, always have and always will. Thank you Madonna.
We are curious to know, what the typical day of a model is? I wake up and I try to run most mornings and then head off to castings or a photo shoot and when I’m not doing that, I’m home working on the LookBook Factory or other projects. Do you have any plans of branching into the Hollywood scene? I have had screen tests in the past for some films and continue to do so. Hopefully one day and very soon too you will be seeing me on the big screen. I also featured in “how to lose friends” and “alienate people” with Kirsten dunst and Simon pig. If you were not a model what do you think your profession would have been? Probably banking as I have a degree in business and finance. When you retire from active catwalk, what do you intend to do? I will be continue with the Look Book Factory and show production, I actually want to be behind the scenes. I also have plans of opening a shoe boutique, I have a really deep passion for shoes.
Both dress by Tarvydas by Ruth Tarvydas
Has there ever been a point in time where you have had 2nd thoughts about your modeling career? Yes there was a time - I am sure everyone has had doubts at some point in their lives about decisions, career paths etc. but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It has shaped me into the person I am now, with great life experiences. Travelling the world and meeting so many influential people, adapting to them and the best part is acclimatizing with other individuals whatever cadre. What’s your advice to upcoming models trying to make it in this industry? First of they should be professional in their approach, be on time, polite and have a great personality. They should believe in themselves but not to the extent of being arrogant. A few aspiring models today that I’ve met have been very arrogant. Just a word of advice it’s a very unpleasant trait to have. Self belief is very important. It’s what will carry you through, give you vision and determination. You have really beautiful skin, what is your beauty regime? My beauty regime is very simple. I have sensitive skin so I have to do as little as possible to it. Cleanse, tone and moisturize every day, not forgetting plenty water - its the key to great skin.

ROBYNE ROBINSON Interview by Chisom Orakwusi
What are the high points of your business? The high point for me is hearing that little gasp of delight someone makes when they see a piece of jewelry they love and connect with. It’s so wonderful. It’s a stamp of approval and the highest compliment I could wish for delights my innermost senses And the low points would be? The low points? Hmmm lets see. I’d say a weak US dollar and a bad economy. Also, some customers are extremely hard to please if you know what i mean. (Wink). How did the idea of a 12year old become a thriving money making venture? Well, actually Ralph Lauren’s Home Collection President, Frank Guzzetta, discovered me at a charity dinner where a few of the women at the event had my jewelry on At some point he asked me a question and I quote, “Would you sell your jewelry at Macy’s?” At the time of meeting him, Frank was President of Macy’s North. He was only introduced to me just as Frank so I really didn’t have any idea of who he was exactly. Once a mutual friend told me who Frank was I didn’t need much to think about before I made a very positive decision to stock my line at Macy’s. Your best description to the concept and style of your jewellery would be? My jewellery collection and designs have a very natural origin. I like to use the words earthly, exotic and sensuous. It’s primarily composed of semi-precious stone, pearl and other natural materials like brass and silver. The raw materials used in the production of each piece of sensuously and patiently crafted jewelry are sought from under our feet “the earth”. I believe and have heard most of my customers have actually said thats why they are attracted to my product. How did you learn the basics of jewellery making? Is there any basic training you went through? I’m a self-taught artist. Every time I make a new piece, I take caution into each little fragment of sub designs changing and manipulating. This gives room for a lot of taught processes. Just by doing this I’m learning something new. There’s always the trial and error thing. Invent and re-invent. That’s basically the process I learnt since I was as a little girl. “ROX” is a suitable name as it does sound earthly. Was this a manipulation of words or derived from real life inspiration? I have these little nephews in California who love stones. They have a strong obsession with collecting stones. They picked them and actually give each one a name as an identity according to importance. I still ship them stones from wherever my travel takes me. So, Rox seemed like the logical choice, right? I take my inspiration from my cute little adventurers (giggles)
Your stones define moods and can be created to flow with the mood as you say and you use particular stones to define these. can you let us into some of the stones used to acheive these and intended meanings? We come from the earth and have always used it in essential ways for our existence.Every stone has its own intended meaning originating from different cultures. The Romans used pearls for currency, Egyptian tombs are filled with amber because they believed it would keep us youthful in this life and the next. Medieval alchemists used amethysts to cure headaches. Pink quartz is supposed to be worn close to the skin to keep you healthy. People still use quartz for that reason to this day. You do rocks various colours shapes and sizes of stones. Is there a particular one you hold dear to heart and why? any meaning to it? My favorite? Hmm... I’d rather Carnelian. It’s a stone that’s used as a source of strength for women. You’re also an anchor on KMSP TV. How do you balance being a reporter and a designer? Fortunately, being a news anchor and a lapidary artist are two separate worlds. It’s not hard to balance. Work first, jewelry second. I design, sell and create during my downtime before and after work, weekends. I have stay focused on what’s happening in the newsroom because it’s a multi-million dollar business to get the news out, and we have to be precise. Later I can be insular and retreat into my jewellery. if you had to give one up which will it be? Hard choice. I’ve known since I was 15 that I wanted to be a newscaster. I’ve made jewelry since I was twelve. You can’t choose between two things you’ve loved all your life. Many celebrities have worn your jewellery. Who has been your biggest client yet? I’ve made jewellery for many celebrities – Madonna, Paula Abdul, Helena Bonham Carter. Most recently I’ve designed for actress Sanaa Lathan, who’s performing in ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof ’ in London’s West End right now.

HONA BENNETT From Mouseketeer to En Vogue to being a very successful actress and musician, Rhona Benett (Miss R‘n’B) talks to us about LOVE, LIFE, WORK and FASHION INTERVIEW BY CHISOM ORAKWUSI PHOTOGRAPHY: D’ANDRE MICHAEL for D’Andre Michael
ON LIFE Where did you grow up? I grew up in Chicago, IL. My parents are from the south ( Montgomery, Alabama) and I spent some formative years (off and on) in Orlando, FL while being a Mouseketeer... Do you come from a large family? Hmmm... I would say it’s medium in size. I only have one sibling (Rosalyn Bennett). My parents have 10 siblings between the two of them. I’ve got a nice amount of cousin’s, but nothing overwhelming... Our family reunions are pretty fun. People come from all over... When you’re not working, what’s a typical day like for you? I work out by running in the hills (canyons) or in the park. I’m always thinking and doing something, along with my management and partner, towards the next best move to getting “The Anticipation Of R&B” promoted. I’ve also been learning to play the piano, so practice is a must;) I’ll soon be back on the road for another play traveling the country... Favorite holiday spot? Hmmm... I like to visit many different places so I don’t really have a favorite. I’m quite fond of where I live right now though Beautiful, southern California... What do you love most about life? Freewill I guess-I can choose and create the life I want. ON WORK Did you know you always wanted to be an entertainer? I’ve known that I’ve wanted to be an entertainer since the age of 8. I used to organize talent shows at my grandmother’s house in Alabama with the foster children she cared for and my cousins. She was the one that recognized my talent and told my parents to pay attention.

After that, I asked my mom what she could do for me. My mom nor my father had the slightest understanding of how to get me into this industry, but they were willing to find out and supported my dream 100%. Now, here I am.
How did you get into it? I started out singing in the church choir, then performing with The Soul Children Of Chicago (gospel choir). I also performed at several events around the city (Chicago,IL), and I got my feet wet on stage at a playhouse in south Chicago called the ETA theater. I had the starring role for a childrens’ play, when an agent for TV and film was in the audience, and requested a meeting. I met with the agency and began my career in television. My first big break came from the inspiring Oprah Winfrey on a show called “The Women Of Brewster Place”. You were a Mouseketeer like Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. Have you worked with any of them? No I haven’t. I’ve just seen Britney and Justin a couple times over the years. You joined En Vogue between 2003-2008 replacing one of the group members. Was it easy for you at first, joining an already successful group? Did they welcome you with open arms? Well, when I joined En Vogue, there were only two active members. Cindy, Terry and myself completed the Soul Flower album. Maxine came back on board for the “Night Of The Proms” tour that traveled for 3 months in Europe with Terry and myself. Cindy went on maternity leave, so Max continued and rekindled her involvement with the group. I pretty much got in, where I fit in. I didn’t really replace any one person. I sang everybody’s lead at some point, except for Terry. She’s been a staple in the group. As far as whether or not it was easy to join the group: I’ll say that the priceless experience I got from being a Mouseketeer, as well as the years of acting and promotion for my solo effort with Darkchild/Sony, really kicked in. We (Mouseketeers) learned our choreography in limited amounts of time, sang the hits from artists current and past, interviewed the stars of those days, hosted televised specials and acted in sketch comedies as well as drama based content. I felt very comfortable having that kind of background to support me in the group. I did want to keep with the integrity of their music and brand, so I did my best to be me while blending in. Yes! They welcomed me with open arms. I developed some nice relationships with each of them.
Which of the girls are you closest to? Terry and I are the closest. You’ve been working on your album “The Anticipation Of R&B”. Tell us more about it? Well, it’s my sophomore effort. The first record was

in 2001 with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Sony records. With that said, my family, friends, fans and myself have all been “anticipating” my next record! It’s been wonderful creating it. The R represents Rhona and the B represents Bennett. Of course you can interchange it with Rhythm and Blues, but it would limit the range of the record. Tony Scott Zubia and I, partnered up to steer the project and write the record. I’ve gotten the opportunity to really discover more about myself as an artist/songwriter. I’m proud of our effort and look forward to seeing it through... JY Park, Cool Ruckus, Cas 2 Cas, NickJames prod., Csik, Peter Zora, 7days, Hired Gunz prod., KMac, myself and Tony all contributed to the production of the record. It’s been a heck of a ride so far;)
What inspired the title? I guess I already answered this in the previous question... whoops! What kind of songs should we be expecting? Strictly R&B? I would say this record is a fusion of genre’s: R&B, Pop, Hip Hop. My friend described it as Neo-R&B... I thought that was kinda cool. Which artists are featured on your album? Brandy is singing on “First Lady”, a track honouring powerful women and encouraging women, young and old, to allow the blossoming of their full potential. 40 Glocc from G-Unit is featured on B-Side... it talks
about songs that were on the b side ... or the songs on your CD that weren’t released as the single, but brought just as much, if not more heat, to the album. Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron Braggs from En Vogue a re featured on “No Mistake”... a ballad produced with all live instruments.
Which is your favourite track on this album? Hmmm... I like so many of them for different reasons. My more abstract choice would be “All Fall Down”. It’s different... I love the melody and the music. Did you write all the songs? There are currently 15 songs on the record. I’ve written on all except one. Any new acting roles coming up? Yes. I’ll be going on tour mid-February with a play. ON LOVE Are you dating anyone? Yes I am dating someone... He’s not in the business. How did you two meet? I was on the road with EnVogue and he knew Maxine... What’s a romantic date like for you guys? Any place where there’s good food and good wine, we take care of the rest. How often do you spend time together? We’re together everyday...It might be easier to tell you how much time wespend apart than together.

Wedding bells soon? Well, we’re very compatible. We seem to be facing that direction and who knows right? (smiles) Worst thing that has happened to you in a relationship? I would say I’ve dealt with the average woes of a relationship... Nothing exciting here. Best thing? Each relationship has had great things that have happened, depending on the person, our relationship and the circumstances. So, it’s hard to pinpoint one thing... Biggest celebrity crush? Wow... digging in the “Rhonadex” (smiles) ... Probably one of the guys in New Edition or The Boyz when I was younger. ON FASHION What’s your most favorite thing in your wardrobe? You’ll notice that I don’t have many favourites. I dress how I feel depending on what that is on any given day, I’ve got something that I really dig in that style. Which make-up brand do you use? I dance between a few products... MAC, Stila, Make-up Forever and L’oreal Who’s your favourite designer? I don’t have one... I just like what looks good Where do you love to shop the most? Although I like to dress fash-ionably, I’m not really a shopper. I like to eat good food first, (go figure). So I usually shop for specific items. Rarely do I go shopping for a pastime. Craziest fashion moment? Well, I remember trying to put an eighties belt on some “not so spandex” pants, a red mesh under top where the thumbs come through the sleeve, with a tight cover top. I wore red puma sneakers attempting to tie it all together, but it just came out weird and fashionably confusing. I remember someone specifically trying to digest my style that day and saying.... “ummmm... I don’t know about that Rhona”... lol! That moment pops into my mind every once and a while and I have a good laugh. Personal style? I’ll go from an Earthy, casual feel to high fashion. I like to have range. So, my style is just... ME.

This season, mix shades of metallic Black, Greys and Silvers to achieve the perfect smoky look.
WORDS BY IMELDA LADEBO, PHOTOGRAPHY BY D’ANDRE MICHAEL for D’Andre Michael Why? This look is edgy, pretty and ideal for both day and evening. Soften in the daytime or go bold and sexy for a night time look. Proper blending is key, as it is essential that colours are blended together perfectly.
How? As the focus is on the eyes, skin must be finished flawlessly. Lips and cheeks should be kept light otherwise you’ll appear too made up. Pair light base colours with dark colours. You could either go for a soft gold base with deep purple, a peach base with green hue or grey base with black.
Essential products for achieving this look: M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Liquid Foundation, £19. For eyes, start with Urban Decay eyeshadow primer (No:11) to give a more vibrant and lasting colour then apply Rimmel Kohl eyeliner (£2.19) follow with M.A.C Black Tied eyeshadow (No:11). Blend in M.A.C Embark eyeshadow (No:11) to the crease. On lips, we love Juicy Tubes Pure lip gloss in Lychee by Lancome (£13.50), Pink Nouveau (£12) or Shy girl lipstick both by M.A.C.

The African X generation and the culture of early marriage Words by Fred Nwonw The African X generation has gotten to that stage in life when the question of wedding bells and baby cries comes more often than not. The lack of progenies is now a question mark that hangs over our bewildered heads, but we beg to be understood for history justifies that the fault, is not ours. Yes, we are getting married later than our parents did and putting off starting a family much later than our parents are comfortable with, but who says it is by our design We have crested our golden years-spent battling for survival-and are approaching middle years-which unlike our parents, we look towards with gut wrenching fear-at a speed we are unable to control, yet there is so much we are yet to achieve and so much that passed us by. The world rates Generations based on the events that marked their birthing. For us, coming between the late seventies and early eighties life means a life that is somewhat checkered. We took first breath at a time our dear country began shedding off the extra weight of the oil boom era; we started kindergarten just when the vestiges of a sound if colonial heritage-educational system was saying its sad goodbyes. By the time we got to elementary school, desks and chairs had given way to planks-propped up with old tires and stones. At that time, the effect of the oil wealth induced birth boom that produced us could be measured by overcrowded class rooms and overflowing pediatric wards of scum littered hospitals. We received medical attention and treatment from obviously less dedicated medical professionals, the doctors trained by the colonials were either too old to handle cases or were practicing in much more expensive private hospitals or in the west, away on self imposed sabbaticals. By the time high school came calling, the effects of the beleaguered Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) ensured we were less well feed, housed and clothed than our parents at that age. Our schools became bereft of infrastructure, though shades of their glories past could still be sniffed, we could only look on, in awe of a glory past. By mid secondary school, the rush by government to reverse decades of neglect and negative policies with a few degrees and pronouncements met us too late, for we had already lost too much to gain redemption that quick. Invariably, we lost more years trying to meet up. By the time we got to the university, strikes became the order of the day tuition fees started to climb astronomically. The strikes made it imperative we spend more than the necessary years in school, a thing that isn’t and couldn’t have been our choice. By then the elites, who should have spoken up and set things right, thought it best
to either send their children abroad or to the expensive private universities that they had just approved with tuition high enough to keep the masses out. We left the university more confused than our parents were at that stage in life, with little or no hope of securing a self sustaining job in an already saturated labor market, with abilities said to be below par with what they had to offer years ago. Our chance of securing available jobs was less than ten percent. Dreary, when compared to the glorious days of our parents when the ratio was, well, above ninety nine percent. Gone are those dreams of being a marine biologist or a civil engineer, we just went where the jobs are. Our parents, now tired, after seeing several kids through university, look down on the X generation as failures who got to spent more money than they did in school and have nothing this actually means a successful career, houses and a family-to show for it. Who can blame them; they had jobs before they wrote their thesis. Since people in our part of the world expect a man to be fully equipped before marriage-financially they mean-we are hard hit. Our parents did not have to contend with all the trappings of modern living, and their marriage was done without recourse to the elaborate cards, dresses, souvenirs and what not that characterizes today’s marriages, so we can understand why it was easier for them to make the ultimate decision. We, we have to fight to get a job, then rent a good enough house, then buy a car-things that came as a package to our parents- before making up our minds which younger girlfriend to marry-since those of the generation above us have married off our mates. When we finally settle down, we have to fight with our educated wives for the control of the home. Since they are virtually their own masters and either insist on a joint account or a separate one. The days of a wife rushing home to hand over to her husband the gains made from the village market were over long ago. Hell! They even have ways of retaining their maiden names these days. The x generation has had it tough but we are not necessary failures as some here will like to believe. Today, through forced creativity and ingenuity, we drive the African music and movie industry. we more desperately needs to make it than any generation ever and we tend to think more about ends not means-crucify the military, it was during their watch that we got weaned and shrugged off childhood. The X generation holds the future of the We hold the literary arts in their ingenious palms.

New Year, same old resolutions! What’s the point in making promises you ditch even faster than the wilting Christmas tree? This year, try switching to no-barrier resolutions and Side View vows you’ll see the results. You can thank us when it’s bikini time again.
Resolution 1 Place your order first at the restaurant When you go out for dinner, everyone asks,“What are you having?” One study found that food intake is 60% higher when we eat in company than we eat alone. Dr Sarah Schenker of the British Nutrition Foundation say, “The socalled ‘smogasbord /platter effect’-when people order so there’s more dishes to dip into-means you’ll probably be enticed into high-calorie choices.” The pay off: Order your meal before anyone else and you’re more likely to choose something healthy. Which means? You can eat out twice as often. And if you have a craving for fast food, order the kids’ meals. That way you can have your fries and eat them.
Resolution 2 Go veggie every other month Eating 5 vegetables and fruits a day and greatly improve your health, help lose pounds and give you a boost of vitamins. To make eating fruits more fun, why not try a fruit smoothie or better still juice the fruits.
Kidney Cleanser Ingredients: 2 Apples4-6 slices Watermelon Detoxifier Ingredients:2 Apples, 2 Pears and a lemon Wake & Shake Smoothie Ingredients:3/4 cup orange juice 3/4 cup plain non-fat or Greek yogurt 1/2 papaya or mango (peeled, seeds removed)1 teaspoon lime juice 1/2 banana 4 ice cubes The payoff: According to Nutritionist and Dietician Dr Schenker states that “On average, vegetarians eat 322 calories less per day than meat-eaters,“ By alternating your diet, you save almost 59,000 calories over one year. Which means? It’s easy to lose 16lb a year. Nutritionist and Dietician Dr Schenker warns not to replace meat with cheese as it’s often thought that vegetarians are all healthy, but that’s quite the contrary.
Resolution 3 Swap your semi-skimmed milk for skimmed and have exactly the same cereal and tea. Opt for herbal teas like peppermint instead of normal tea and while you’re at it, change your full fat latte to a skinny one. The payoff: If you switch half a pint of semiskimmed daily for a half skimmed, you’ll save about 40 calories a day. Similarly, if you replace your tall latte with the skinny version every weekday for a year (minus five weeks holiday), you’ll save a huge 19,505 calories. Which means? You could shed 9lb a year with these changes alone.
