OPTIMIZING your HEALTH

and WELLNESS FOR LIFE Exercise is important to your health. It reduces the risk of diseases and improves coordination and balance. Whether you exercise at home, outside, or at a class, just remember to keep moving! Wellness programs stretch far beyond the traditional medical setting. Through education, screenings, fitness, mindfulness, and support, patients will benefit from our programs specifically designed to promote healing and wellness.

HEALTH SCREENINGS

Walk-in for blood pressure, pulse, body mass index, cholesterol values, and glucose (sugar). Fasting and registration not required. Located in Cardiovascular Rehab. Cost: $15 3rd Thursday of each month, 8 - 10 a.m.

FITKIDS 360

A family approach healthy lifestyle program for children ages 5 – 16. Provides effective solutions for fighting childhood obesity. 7-week program offered in fall, winter, and spring.

REFUEL. RECOVER, RENEW

After a fitness routine it’s important to refuel your body. This program offers examples of healthy eating habits that should follow your workout routine. Plus other methods to replenish your body and stay healthy. Thursday, January 11, 6:30 – 7 p.m.

For a Healthy Fall/Winter Season

Enjoy the seasonal produce - apples, squash, cabbage, kale, carrots. There is a lot our region has to offer. Get your flu shot. Wash your hands often - ‘tis the season for germs! Enjoy the outdoors - the cooler temperatures can make it more enjoyable to be active outside. Plan ahead for the holidays - planning will help reduce the stress. Plan an activity after indulging in holiday meals. Stay hydrated - even without the summer heat it is important to drink water. Get enough sleep - aim for 8 hours a night. Be prepared when traveling - keep a shovel, blanket, food, and water in your vehicle. Plan for extra time to reach your destination.

DIABETES EDUCATION

The Diabetes and Nutritional Counseling Center provides educational services for patients living with or at risk for diabetes. Fees do apply for these services, however, insurance may cover the cost. COMPREHENSIVE SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION Designed for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes, or who have never been educated on this topic. ANNUAL EDUCATION AND UPDATE Designed for individuals who are not new to diabetes, but would benefit from a review and goal-setting session. MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY Providing additional guidance on food choices for treatment of pre-diabetes and diabetes.
