Carson Clark Nursing Major CLASS OF 2023Born in 1761 in Paulerspury, England, William Carey was self-educated during his work as a cobbler and pastor in Great Britain. As one of the founders of the Baptist Missionary Society in 1792 and later during his forty-one years of missionary work in India, he became known as the Father of Modern Missions. Carey felt called to serve as a missionary in India, and spent his years there as an evangelist, Bible translator, social reformer, educator, linguist, and botanist. In India, Carey worked tirelessly for the spread of the Gospel of Christ, education, and social reform. Striving to emulate Dr. William Carey’s heart for service to both God and all people, William Carey University is proud to honor his life and legacy by practicing his teaching to “Expect great things; attempt great things.”

The Winters School of Music is very inclusive and serves as an amazing place to cultivate my art. This has made my experience here more than I imagined it would be as a freshman. “William Carey University taught me that I am capable of great things. ‘Great things’ has a lot of different meanings. For me it means earning a bachelor's degree in nursing, opening up to people, stepping out of my comfort zone, and learning to be responsible and independent. Carey gave me lifelong friendships I will cherish forever and equipped me to pursue my calling in life! ”
Morgan Miller Pope Intensive Care Unit RN LUCEDALE, MS | CLASS OF 2022William Carey University’s more than 30,000 alumni span the globe! WCU graduates can be found in all 50 U.S. states and in 57 countries worldwide.
“As a Christian, my number one priority was choosing a university that exemplified the body of Christ. I also wanted to experience culture shock (being a Boston girl), but gained even more from the community Carey offered. The music program at Carey not only prepared me for my music therapy career, but also my position as a church music director and collaborative pianist. It’s incredible to see how God used me during my four years at Carey, and how my experiences impact my life today.”
Mara Herrera Board Certified Music Therapist, Neurologic Music Therapy Fellow BOSTON, MA | CLASS OF 2015“Studying at Carey deepened my knowledge and understanding about the corporate world. It also helped me realize the divisions and departments of business I want to pursue. This process helped me significantly in getting to know myself better with respect to my upcoming career. On a more personal note, Carey taught me unity, gratitude and appreciation of friendships. I can also say meeting the people at Carey from Mississippi, other states, and other countries, was a very unique and special experience.”
Marc Meinz Associate Consultant, Data Management HAMBURG, GERMANY | CLASS OF 2021“My family has a long history of military service and I knew this was a path I wanted to follow.
