October saw Australasia’s favourite battle of manufacturer’s return with the V8Factor Redemption Series. The series is a 6 round mini series with drivers from the previous round and plenty of new faces showing up to put their name on the trophy.
Other regulars, Kirk, Kingi, Waugh, amongst others, all battled hard in the midpack to find extra points. Up front, George took out the win, with Hodgson and Slykiwi making contact and causing Slykiwi to fall off the track. Hodgson held on to 2nd, with Slykiwi falling back, and Pluck gaining 3rd position.
Round 1 was the first of two endurance rounds of the series at Australia’s Sandown circuit. A strong contingent of drivers showed up for the first round, including several from across the ditch. Early practise showed usual suspects Kyle George and Slykiwi at the top of the tables, with new comer Aaron Hodgson also right on the pace. Previous series winner, Bryce Harding, was also up on the pace. Come qualifying time however, with the pressure of only getting a single timed lap, showed some drivers unable to pull off a good time. George claimed pole position, from Hodgson, with Slykiwi and Go Fast driver Matthew Pluck making his return to racing claiming 4th position on the grid.
The grid was then set for the 1 hour endurance race, which consisted of the teams having to complete two compulsory pit stops. The majority of the field got away cleanly, with George taking an early lead in the race. Hodgson and Slykiwi pushed hard early though, and got ahead of George and started battling, trading paint and settling the battle from the previous race. In the early stages, George and Pluck both hung back and let the two fight it out. Whilst in behind, a hardcharging Harding made his way up to 5th before getting caught out at the chicane and barrel rolling in spectacular fashion over the fence and into the crowd. And if that wasn’t enough, Nicholls repeated the efforts towards the end of the race! After the pitstops had ironed out, Hodgson had mechanical troubles, and George had raced off into the distance, Slykiwi and Pluck had a hard fought and close battle all the way to the last corner with Slykiwi edging out Pluck for 2nd in the race. Waugh crossed over in 4th, Johansen 5th and Kirk in 6th.
The first race was just a short 6 lap sprint race for extra points for the championship. George, Slykiwi and Hodgson all made a good jump at the start and made a break for it. In behind was Pluck in a comfortable 4th. Behind there was some drama’s with the likes of Michael Kemp, Richie Nicholls and Ethan Anderson all striking trouble early on.

V8 SUPERCARS
Round 2 of the V8 Redemption Series saw the teams and drivers heading to Australia’s Hidden Valley Circuit. The hot circuit proved to be fast and exciting for most of the drivers, with the teams pushing to get every last second out of the car round the circuit. Early practise signs saw new comers Brenton Sanderson and Ricky Henderson from Australia setting the early pace, with Go Fast NZ Driver Matthew Pluck hot on their heels. Kirk and Johansen were also showing signs of pace. Series contenders Kyle George, Aaron Hodgson and Slykiwi were all unable to make the second round of the series due to various reasons, which left the door open for other drivers to stake their challenge in the series. Qualifying saw a convincing lap from Pluck to take out pole from Sanderson, whilst Henderson had drama’s which saw him start off the back. Johansen had a qual best effort making the second row alongside Kirk. Defending Champ Bryce Harding was a late addition to this round also missing qualifying which saw him off the back of the grid for both races. It was time to get the racing underway, and as the lights turned green everyone got away cleanly. Pluck lead from Sanderson, with Kirk, Johansen and Kemp battling for minor placings. Henderson’s bad run continued, with him striking mechanical drama’s and pulling out of the race. Meanwhile, Harding was showing the talent that got him the title last season, making his way through the field. Up front Pluck looked to have it under control before Sanderson made a move and got ahead. Kirk secured his place ahead of Johansen and Kemp, whilst Pull, Greeks and Gray all fought for position. Sanderson took a narrow victory over Pluck, with

Kirk earning a solid third position. Harding made his way up to fourth, from Johansen and Kemp. Next up was the main race of the night, a 30 minute race with a compulsory stop for good measure. Pluck got off to a good lead again, with Sanderson (censored) it up on the line and spinning himself into the wall. This created an opening for Johansen and Kirk to apply some pressure to Pluck, but Pluck started to get away, whilst Kirk fought to get ahead of Johansen. Harding got caught in others drama taking a collision from Johnathon Pull, which caused steering damage to Harding’s vehicle leading to an early unscheduled pitstop for Harding to fix the damage, which sent him well down the order. Henderson finally got his way back on track, making moves up through the field and into third behind Kirk. Pluck had a mind lapse and a half spin on the hairpin allowing them to close the gap, but still held a solid 2 second lead. Henderson pitted early to try and gain an advantage, while Pluck pitted soon after, but found Henderson hot on his tail upon exiting pits. Pluck’s cold tyres couldn’t hold out and Henderson got the lead and made a quick gap. Kirk came out a few seconds behind the front two but in a comfortable third position. All eyes were on the battle up front however, and as Plucks tyres came up to temperature he punching out some flying laps, quickly closing the gap and eventually overtaking Henderson. He then put all questions to rest as he pulled a controlling lead over Henderson. Pluck took out his first win in the series and with it the top step on the leaderboard, from Henderson in second. Kirk held on for another solid third, Kemp in fourth, Gray fifth and Harding fighting back to sixth position after Johansen got penalised for speeding in pitlane.

Round 3 was held at the tight and very technical Adelaide Street Circuit. A field of fourteen drivers showed up to tackle the only Street Circuit in the series. Early practise showed usual flyer Kyle George at the top of the table, with Michael Kemp and Bryce Harding not to far off the pace. Once again the pressure of the one timed lap of Qualifying affected a few drivers lap times. Once again George claimed pole position, from Harding, with Michael Kemp and Mitch Keys claiming 4th position on the grid. The first race being a short 6 lap sprint race for extra points for the championship. George and Harding got off to a blistering start, followed not to far behind by Kemp and Keys. Hayden Kirk with some outstanding pace was all over the tails of Kemp and Keys. Khan Hema and Richie Nichollos were battling hard all race in the midpack to find extra points. Bryce Harding spun the wheels early on in the race and collected the wall on turn 3 and in the process lost many valuble spots. Harding persevering got back up to 5th place before race end. George took the victory, with Keys taking Second and Hayden Kirk rounding out the top 3. The grids were locked in for the half hour race requiring 1 compulsory pitstop, seeing the same grid positions as the first heat. The majority of the field got away cleanly, with George and Harding undoubtably pulling away from the field in the opening laps. Keys and Kemp were pushing hard trying to keep the up with the lead pace. Mid field battles were tight between the likes of Hema, Nichollos and Ricky Henderson trading alot paint and trying to force mistakes from the other. Technical difficulties seen Keys, Henderson and Johansen drop out of the race. Coming across the line in the first position was Kyle George followed by Bryce Harding and Michael Kemp to claim the final spot on the podium.
