Context & Concept driven design outcomes Screen Printing Digital Production
From the previous module, I realised I was majorly lacking in the production side to design work. Overall pulling my design work down, and not letting it flourish to it’s best ability. This is something I am going to heavily work on for the FMP as I want to give myself the best chance at being as professional as I can. This will also create a process driven set of projects, capitalising on the skills that I want to continue to develop.
Brief 1: YCN UK Greetings
Deadline
14/03/2013
Rationale: Design a range of greetings cards. Throughout this brief I aim to focus directly within screen-printing and it’s capabilities, directing my design work from this. Looking through creative production methods and formats. Taking existing ‘meaningful’ pieces of poetry and displaying them in a commercial but professional environment.
Brief 2: Self Promo – Illustration Promotion
Deadline
Rationale: Design and produce a series of themed pieces of artwork that can translate your skills as an illustrator and also a designer. By placing them on a number of products, promotional material and other printed deliverables, will allow further development of the direction you need to take.
Brief 3: LOTR
Deadline
Rationale: Illustrate and interpret characters and features from J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Context driven brief, taking an existing story but designing and placing into a new one. An exploration into book works, layout and editorial illustration. Further developing my own knowledge and understanding of the process.
Brief 4: Comic Book – Collaboration (Michael Mooney)
Deadline
Rationale: Design and create a proposal for a fictional comic book. As I will be collaborating throughout this brief, it will allow me to investigate the potentials of working with others. Also capitalising on my illustrative practice, incorporating type with image and displaying it effectively within a context driven audience.
Brief 5: Album Artwork – Hardcore/Metal band
Deadline
Rationale: Design and produce album artwork for a hardcore / metal band of your choice. This is a direct route to displaying illustration across a wide audience. Throughout this brief I will be heavily focussing on digital art and application. As it will be important to understand effectively when designing the outcomes for the project. Also this will allow PRD to be developed further and promotional material.
