Victory Café Grand Opening Congratulations to the students and staff in the Victory Works Program on the grand opening of the Victory Café which will operate as a schoolbased enterprise for transition students ages 18-21. The Victory Café will serve coffee and pastries to Heyward's staff and will expand to other district employees and the public. Victory Staff Members are: Teachers Paige Griffin and Amy Philp; Assistants Peggy Addison and Darlene Buchanan; Job Coach Kimberly Brunson; and Bus Driver Larry Hart.

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) An opportunity to get involved Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are national organizations that provide opportunities for students to learn leadership skills while using the skills they learn in CTE programs. Heyward currently offers 4 CTSOs as well as an honor society: FCCLA--Family, Career and Community Leaders of America FFA--Future Farmers of America HOSA--Health Occupations Students of America SkillsUSA--Prepares a skilled workforce for America NTHS--National Technical Honor Society (must join one of the other CTSOs and meet eligibility criteria) Students normally have to pay membership fees; however, the fees are being waived this year and are paid by the school with the exception of NTHS. All students are encouraged to join their CTSO by informing their teacher by October 29.

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize, and empower students and teachers in Career & Technical Education. As the honor society for Career & Technical Education, NTHS serves over 100,000 active members annually in both secondary and postsecondary chapters across country. Students at Heyward must meet the following criteria to be eligible for NTHS: Join a CTSO "A" average in CTE class; "C" in other courses Diploma track No more than 5 unexcused absences No ISS or OSS Good character Teacher recommendation; principal approval

OPEN HOUSE September 30, 2021 A special thanks to the students and parents that attended our "Outdoor" Open House on September 30, 2021. Over 150 visitors visited teachers' tables and learned about the awesome opportunities at Heyward. They were treated to a delicious dinner prepared by our Culinary Arts department under the leadership of Chef Collier (Teacher) and Mr. Dawud Ahmad (Assistant).

PROFESSIONALISM DAYS "DRESS FOR YOUR CAREER" The 1st Wednesday and Thursday of each month is designated a "Professionalism Days" when we encourage students and staff to dress in a particular theme. "Dress for your Career" was held on October 6-7. We appreciate everyone that participated.
