OUR VISION ISFI is a community developmen institution within Ateneo de Davao University, which derives its uniqueness from the success of its 3C’s:

ISFI was organized in January 1981 with the assistance from the Government of Belgium and the University of Louvain through the Association of Catholic Universities of the Philippines.

Its assisted communities are now empowered and organized persons with the capacities and resources to meet their basic needs for a humane and dignified quality of life - and to become agents of change.

• CLASSROOMTO-COMMUNITY EXTENSION Such that the institution translates classroom learning into concrete and sustainable action that has contributed to the uplifment of our country’s poor and disadvantaged sectors. • COMMITED WORKERS Who have been nurtured to become dedicated and committed in building a nation, motivated by a love for God and country, within an atmosphere of mutual respect and uncompromising integrity.

ISFI has been implementing various projects which cater both the rural and urban poor.

OUR MISSION ISFI is commited and dedicated to: •

COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND DEVELOPMENT using participatory approaches, the institution will engage communities in capacity building programs on enterprise-based organizational development, environmental stewardship, and spiritual and values formation, all within the context of transparency, accountability and gender sensitivity.

EXPANSION OF ITS GEOGRAPHIC AND SECTORAL COVERAGE wherein the Institution will now extend its work to all vulnerable sectors, including children, youth and women, throughout the island of Mindanao.

CONSCIOUS LINKAGEBUILDING WITH THE ACADEMIC MAINSTREAM such that the institution will install the mechanisms and structures needed to maintain a mutually beneficial information exchange with the University.

ISFI is a member of a network of small businesses institutes operating all over the coutry and likewise a member of various Non Government Networks: PHILSSA, SJSA, SEED, ASDAR, MINCODE and MEF.

Our Clientele

ISFI has been implementing various projects which cater both the rural and urban poor. Most of these projects are livelihood in nature which are geared towards increasing the income of the project partifipants.

While almost all project are focused on livelehood improvement, some projects are coupled with distinct features like farm productivity, ecology preservation/rejuvenation and promotion of used indigenous materials available in the locality.

IFSI was origniall known as Institute for Small Scale Industries or ISSI. Its name has been changed to ISFI to emphasize its bond with small farmers and fisherfolks aside from the small business entrepreneurs.

The provision of soft laons to the micro-entrepreneurs and coastal fisherfolks is done through the Social Credity, Livelihood Promotions Project and Craft Village Development Program. The rural projects are designed to increase the income of the marginalized lowland and upland farmers through integrated and agroforestry farming approach.
