GAME OUTLINE

Specs follows the exploits of Oli, a young boy from Land Lane, as he pursues his postman, Tom Snap, across the vast game world. Equiped with his magic glasses, Oli is able to tr`ansform into any of the game’s residents and make use of their abilities in order to progress further and retrieve his parcel. Along his journey, oli will encounter a wide variety of the game’s characters who have also fallen foul of Tom’s clumsiness.

BIOGRAPHIES

Oli is a boy waiting patiently by the door for his new glasses to arrive. When the postman mixes up his parcel he goes on a mission to get them back. Smart and cunning, he seeks a temporary pair in Specsellers and is given magic glasses. Using them, he is able to transform into anyone he meets, allowing him to tackle any obstacle that stands in his way.

Tom Snap is the chirpy neighbourhood postman. Carrying his trusty post bag, and travelling on his post office issue motorbike, he is well known by all the residents. Unfotunately, Tom isn’t very good at his job and is always mixing up packages. His clumsy ways constantly cause accidents that wreak havoc across the entire game world.

LEVEL CONSTRUCTION

Levels are made up of 20x20 sprite blocks. There are three floor blocks that comprise the platform of the game. The centre of which is a gradient between the colours used for the top and bottom blocks. There are 3 different types of blocks below ground. Each of these is slightly darker than the one above it. Depth is created by using the darkest colour in the block above to create a shadow. giving the map a 3D appearance.

UX DESIGN

The menu switches between different character themes each time a user reaches the menu. Colours are taken from the pallete of the currently displayed character.

Only the player’s current selection is in focus, all other typography is blurred to reflect the vision mechanic used extensively in the game.

BLUR MECHANIC

The menu switches between different character themes in response to the navigation of the player. Menu colours are taken from the pallete of the currently displayed character.

Only the player’s current selection is in focus, all other typography is blurred to reflect the vision mechanic used extensively in the game.

The main distrubution platform for the game will be Steam, followed by releases for Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) and Playstation network (PSN)
