Concrete aggregates and water go thru a process called hydration when mixed; during the hydration time, the concrete cures and dries. To make cement there needs to be a filler and binder, the filler is water and the binder could be fine or course aggregates. Cement will expand if there is magnesium is in the mix; The cement can also expand durning hydration time. Concrete cannot cure efficiently in significantly hot weather or cold weather under 50째F; in hot weather the concrete will loose the water mixed therefore drying before curing, in cold weather the cement will cure very slowly. In hot days concrete can feel significantly hot to bear skin but that can cool down with some rainor water; concrete also retains heat during the day when the sun hits it and releases it after sunset. Concrete can be a way of heating a home and cutting back on heating cost.
