Transverse section showing vertical circulation Western wind is dominant and has higher accurance compared to winds from other directions Hybrid Sectional Model Climatology: Average seasonal wind direction PROGRAM: The structure is derived from traffic, population density and solar orientation issues. Sun shines at a more acute angle in summer than spring and winter combined
The train station is located at the heart of Santa Monica, where traffic is a big issue, considering the fact that it is next to the Colorado exit, therefore additional program space is available under the station. Providing underground horizontal circulation across streets speeds and clears up the pedestrian traffic. Additional to the train station, the structure provides space for convention center and hotel to accommodate the needs for the people utilizing the space. ADA accesable ramps throughout the structure.
