VIEWING

I FELT AN ANGEL

I felt an angel near today, though one I could not see I felt an angel’s kiss, soft upon my cheek And felt an angel’s loving touch, soft upon my heart And with that loving touch, I felt the pain and hurt within depart I felt an angel’s silken wings enfold me with pure love And felt a strength within me grow, a strength sent from above.

Remembering Janice

Janice Solomon-Moore was born on April 5, 1953 in Savannah, GA to the late Ruth Solomon and Stephen Solomon. Janice’s early years were spent in Savannah, GA where she attended Frank W Spencer Elementary School followed by West Hardyville Junior High School until she moved to New York at the age of 12 where she continued her education and career. In 1996, Janice married her love, Larry “Jay” Moore.

Janice lived a very active and full life, often smiling, happy and enjoying the company of friends and family. She loved playing her numbers, shopping and fashion. She took pride in keeping herself presentable, not to leave the house without her blue eyeliner and neatly-thin drawn eyebrows. Aside from dancing in the kitchen with her Grandson-Lloyd, talking on the phone with her sisters and spending time with her “only one” [daughter-Renee], one of her favorite hobbies included caring for her plants. She spent time bathing and talking to them, as she believed that was key to her green thumb.

To know Janice was to know that she loved her family. This was evidenced in the way she doted over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her greatest experiences was walking Nia and Aaliyah (great-granddaughters) to school. She was so incredibly proud to share that experience with them.

Janice is survived by her Husband Larry “Jay” Moore, her one and only daughter Renee Solomon Gordon (m Lloyd Sr.). Her grandchildren: Sade “Starr” Solomon, Jasmine Kori Solomon and Lloyd Gordon Jr. Three great-grandchildren: Mekhi Moorehead, Nia and Aaliyah Woodruf, however, her love and motherly devotion extended further than blood relations as reflected in her endearment towards Samantha Lloyd, Quincey Lloyd and De’sa Duke. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Myra SolomonHarris (m Dwayne Sr.), Cheryl Butler, Shaquita Bennet, LaShawn Solomon, Stephen Solomon Jr. Her brother-in-law Ellis, Hal Jr. and David Moore, Gregory Norman, sister-in-law Cynthia Everetts and Beverly James and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She is preceded in death by brother Antoine Solomon and her sisters Lucretia Hunter, Doris Solomon and Rochelle Washington.

After a year-long battle with sudden illness, Janice departed this life on September 29, 2024. She will be fiercely missed.

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free

Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone It’s all a part of the Master’s plan A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart

Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me but let me go.
