Zakiya Kafi Washington the beloved daughter of Geraldine Washington and Michael Hall was born on December 21, 1975. She attended the Newark Public School System until she transitioned to Job Corps, where she obtained her GED. As a child, Zakiya was quiet caring and inquisitive. She was devoted to her older sister Lisa, who had Sickle Cell Anemia. It was her love and caring for Lisa that shaped her desire to work with disabled people. Through her adult years, Zakiya was employed at various agencies as a direct care worker. Zakiya was a creative and artistic soul. She made numerous 3D pictures as wall art, and she also love to crochet. Zakiya was a budding entrepreneur. She prepared and sold natural products for the care of African American hair and skin. Zakiya was a devoted mother to her two children, Azana and Zakee. They were always her priority and she made sure they were exposed to their family and heritage throughout her life. Zakiya was a quiet person to the world unless she witnessed injustice or dishonesty. She became very vocal when she deemed it necessary. Zakiya is predeceased by her sister, Lisa Washington; grandparents, Barbara Washington, Willie Washington, and Doreather Hall; and Uncle Sam Hall. Zakiya leaves to cherish her memory, her two children, Azana and Zakee Crawley; her mother and father, Geraldine Washington, Michael Hall; aunts, Georgette Allen, and Rosalyn Parham; uncles, Douglas Washington, Gary Parham, Dennis Hall, Wilbur Hall, and Tyrone Hall; and a host of cousins and friends.
