Synopsis The Internet is today’s backbone for all kind of commercial activities including online services, and it has given rise to various features such as social media, Internet of things (IoT), online shopping, digital payments, e-Education, e-Health and the list goes on. Cyber Security is now a part of every individual’s life as we are witnessing a world without borders. In the current pandemic situation where work from home is a new normal for most and digital services are on the rise, so are cyberattacks. Analysing China’s rise as a prominent power and its implications for India and the world merits a careful study, especially its national interests and objectives. For India, this has to be decoded from the tools employed by China to expand and execute its plans at the strategic and tactical levels. One aspect that has assumed great importance in recent years is ‘Cyber Security’. This invisible threat affects the public and the private sector and spans a broad range of issues related to national security, whether through terrorism, crime, or state and industrial espionage. Such cyber threats are designed to attack and bring down critical infrastructure and installations and include surveillance and sophisticated offensive attacks. Cyber Security has thus become more important than ever in today’s Digital Life. Today, hackers and cyber attackers target not only companies and corporations but individuals as well. As we become increasingly connected, safeguarding our digital identities becomes a shared responsibility. The month of October is globally marked as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) with a view to educate public and private sector to increase cyber resilience of the nation as recommended by National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). This conclave aims to promote and motivate the digital age citizens to be cyber aware and secured netizens. The takeaways from the conclave will enable and equip the participants with the required information and knowledge to successfully shield themselves against various cyber threats and dangers lurking in the cyber space from adversaries within India and abroad.
