9:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Context and Objectives of the Convention The theme for this year's MMA Annual Convention is 'India's Turning Point–Challenges & Opportunities,' broadly based on the McKinsey Global Institute's (MGI) research on this topic. Authored by McKinsey partners, Gautam Kumra, Shirish Sankhe and Anu Madgavkar, the work highlights a reform agenda to raise productivity and incomes that could be implemented in the next 12 to 18 months and keep India in the ranks of the world's outperforming emerging economies. The themes have gained traction with the media, CEOs and policy-makers in India. COVID-19 sparked an unprecedented health and economic crisis, bringing about a severe decline in global growth. In India too, while output recovery is underway, several key economic indicators are yet to get back on track. The crisis could serve as a turning point for the economy—India can use it to spur reforms that return the economy to a high-growth track and create gainful jobs for 90 million workers over the coming decade or risk a decade of economic stagnation. With the right reform agenda, India can raise productivity and incomes for workers, small and medium firms, and large businesses alike. Some critical measures have been announced over the last few months, central and state governments will need to work together and in concert with business leaders to accelerate the reform agenda. To gain insights on India's Turning Point—Challenges and Opportunities, we invite you to the virtual one-of-a-kind event MMA Annual Convention on Friday, 26th February 2021. Over the course of three exceptional virtual sessions and through fireside chats with several prominent industrial experts, we promise you brilliant sessions of learning that can help you not only to understand the current economic climate but also face the challenges and opportunities.

Keynote Address - Special Session 1 India's Turning Point– Challenges & Opportunities This session will focus on what we can do together to accelerate the reforms agenda. Ms Anu Madgavkar, Partner, McKinsey Global Institute & co-author of the report, will share her insights on the theme “India's Turning Point,” followed by a fireside chat moderated by Mr Naveen Unni, Partner, McKinsey & Company, with outstanding thought leaders from the industry and public sector.

Special Session 2 Digital transformation accelerated – trends and implications The dramatic shift to living and working online has accelerated changes across the entire business landscape. While digital transformations are happening faster than ever because of the pandemic, organizations must have the right digital capabilities to sustain change. The session will focus on how digital transformations have picked up pace during the pandemic, key trends observed and what a successful digital transformation will look like. The session will start with a presentation by Mr Raghavan Janardhanan, Partner, McKinsey & Company and a leader of McKinsey's Digital practice in India, followed by a fireside chat between Raghavan and thought leaders from the industry to share their experience of how digital transformations have accelerated over the past year and lessons for other leaders on how they can lead their organizations through the digital future.

Special Session 3 Thrive or Survive? Enabling personal growth in times of adversity The past year counts as a 'once in a century' period. For most people, this marks the first time we had to face threats to our physical safety and well-being, and to adapt in ways never thought possible. Common wisdom is that people somehow 'survive' such times and there is a lot of talk on resilience or bouncing back. However, research and evidence shows a fair number of us actually thrive, or grow personally—landing up better versions of ourselves than we were before. The session will start with a presentation by Mr Faridun Dotiwala, Partner and leader of McKinsey's Leadership Practice in India. The aim is to explore five practices that are proven to help one thrive versus just survive or be resilient. These include elements such as bounded optimism, new ways of decision-making ('pause, then act'), empathy and working through networks. After a short presentation, Faridun will have a discussion with the thought leaders from the industry to share their own leadership experiences through the pandemic and lessons for the participants at the convention to take away on how they can lead in 2021.
