SYNOPSIS Oxygen deprivation is one of the biggest complications which COVID-19 patients right now.
Studies have also shown that shortness of breath and oxygen deprivation is one major problem patients have been facing during the second wave of coronavirus.
Normal
oxygen
saturation
levels
lie
between
94-99%
for
any
individual.
When
the
virus
causes
inflammation, it results in obstruction and doesn’t facilitate breathing and oxygen supply, leading to a drop in saturation levels. When the SPo2 levels drop below 93%, it is a sign that one needs oxygen therapy. Medical oxygen is then required for patients.
There are 3 broad ways to get Oxygen from the atmosphere. How we currently do this and what are the challenges for scale up and how can we be better prepared for the future waves. Lets look at the various possibilities.

K SRINIVASAN K Srinivasan (63) Currently Managing Director at Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd., Pune a leading producer of Compressors & Compression systems for Air, Refrigeration and Gas. Earlier, was the Managing Director of Carborundum Universal Limited ( CUMI ) a Rs 2800 crore company with 28 manufacturing sites in 7 countries. Cumi is a leader in Abrasives, Ceramics and Electrominerals and a part of the Murugappa Group. Srinivasan began his career in 1980 with brief stints at Widia India Limited and Philips India Ltd. In 1983, he joined Wendt India Ltd where he was instrumental in turning around the company and finally bringing it into the Cumi fold. He has had stints of running the Industrial

business
and
Abrasive
business
of
Cumi.
Since
taking
over
as
Managing Director in 2005, he has grown Cumi from a leading Indian abrasive company to a global player with major operations in Russia, China, South Africa, Australia and Thailand. He was ranked as the Most Valuable CEO of mid-sized companies in India in 2012.
