Dr. G Satheesh Reddy is a renowned defence and aerospace scientist, currently serving as the President of the Aeronautical Society of India. He is the former Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D, Chairman of DRDO, and Scientific Adviser to the Raksha Mantri. With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Reddy played a pivotal role in advancing India’s defence capabilities, spearheading projects like the Anti-Satellite Missile Test (Mission Shakti), the development of guided bombs, and a range of missile systems. He also led innovations in avionics, drones, hypersonic technologies, and artillery systems.
His efforts significantly contributed to India’s self-reliance in critical defence technologies and boosted defence exports. Dr. Reddy has been widely recognized for his contributions, including prestigious international awards like the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Honorary Fellowship and the Missile Systems Award by the AIAA. He has also been honored with over 25 honorary doctorates and numerous national awards for his groundbreaking work in defence R&D.
