Synopsis A partnership is an organizational form where the shareholders and the managers are the same – the principal is also the agent. This raises several unique leadership challenges as the partnership grows beyond a small band of professionals.

The Speaker will explore lessons in the following areas from his over two decades of working in a partnership: • Financial and strategic ambition • Growth and service proliferation • People and Culture • Governance and Transparency • Lessons from Regionalisation • Opportunities and challenges presented by Covid-19

PROFILE Mr. Satyanarayan Ramamurthy Satya qualified as a Chartered Accountant with S.B.Billimoria & Co (then representative of KMG and Ernst and Whinney) in 1987, and finished his management studies at IIM, Ahmedabad in 1990. He joined as a Management Trainee in Ponds, Chennai in 1990, and worked as a Manager, Corporate Finance until the end of 1993. After a brief stint in 1994 with Alghanim Industries in Kuwait, he joined KPMG in Chennai in 1995 as a Management Consultant and moved with them to Singapore in 1996. He was invited to join the partnership in 1998, and has since worked in a wide range of leadership roles with the Singapore Firm. After setting up the public sector business during the Asian Financial Crisis from 1998 to 2003, he moved to build the Corporate Finance practice, focusing on M&A and Project Finance. With the increasing global focus on re-building the consulting business, he was asked to take leadership of the Asia Pacific Government and Infrastructure business in 2012 which he did until 2016, a period during which the firm in the region experienced substantial growth. In 2016, he returned to reorganize the Consulting business and ran it until September 2019, and returned the business to growth and profitability. Since then, he has been working on executing the Firm’s growth agenda in the Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare sector in Singapore and Indonesia, across all service lines. Satya is married to Prabha, a teacher, and has one son, Pratyush who is reading Economics at the University of Warwick in the UK.
