The Heart Of Gold Coast
Gold Coast has been developing as one of the most popular tourist destination in Australia. It has a pride in its beautiful beaches, world heritage registered hinterland, and entertainment industries. However, because of its linear and car-oriented city structure the city lacks the sense of the center and pedestrian environment quality. Therefore, together with ongoing refurbishment of public transportation, City of Gold Coast decided to hold Cultural Precinct Design Competition 2013 to create a cultural center of gravity and a new platform to express the identity of Gold Coast. Responding to this context, my intention in the proposal is to create“urban forest as the heart of the city, which express relaxing lifestyle in Gold Coast.

There is something about St Mary's
The site is located in West End, where minority such as inverts, indigenous Australian and immigrants have lived for a long time. These people brought diverse values to the area, which created a unique culture and vibrant atmosphere. However, ongoing gentrification and urbanization is changing the community. Responding to these historical context and the changes , my intention to redefine “soft edge”and“backyard”in this
St Mary’ s
proposal and create a place where people can enjoy both informal public life and private time.

Bus Stop
Inspired by the vitality that cicadas exhibit every summer in the campus of University of Ttukuba, I intended to create a bus stop that captures their kinetic beauty. At the same time, I refered to a gateway at the entrance to the Shinto shrine. Repetition of a form and particles of light allow people to turn thenselves on and off when they pass this node between the university and the outside.
