Heart Homes Initiative In collaboration with Designs for Dignity, the Heart Homes Initiative is a new program developed by Diana Falanga whose goal is to bring gently used home furnishings to Chicagoans in need. As a designer with Space Defined, Falanga found her inspiration for this project in her work on so many of Chicago’s North Shore homes. This unique program was created as a result of clients facing the challenge of discarding un-needed furniture. Designs for Dignity provides pro bono interior design services to area nonprofits to create interiors that reflect dignity, respect and comfort for the individuals they serve. This considered, Designs for Dignity was Heart Homes’ perfect choice as a partner! Both Heart Homes Initiative and Designs for Dignity believe that all people are entitled to and nurtured by living and working within comfortable and safe environments. While Designs for Dignity has been wonderfully successful in providing design support to non-profit agencies for their community spaces and public areas, it is a new goal to further the reach by helping individuals move from homelessness to homes. Both the staff of Designs for Dignity and the board of directors are thrilled to join Falanga in this new endeavor and develop the Heart Homes Initiative. How does the Heart Home Initiative work? Any furnishings in good condition that you would like to donate to Designs for Dignity will be arranged to be picked up from your home. (A tax receipt will be provided for all donations.) For more infomation or if you have any items you are interested in donating, contact Jennifer Sobecki, 773.293.3259, jsobecki@designsfordignity.org.
