FOOTE ALISON

JWRE

broker in charge

RENEWING CULTURE

Alison Foote is the JWRE qualifying broker for Alabama and Florida and is the October 2023 featured Broker in Charge for Mobile Bay Real Producers

Foote hails from Oxford, Alabama situated due east of Birmingham and graduated from Oxford High School.

She is the oldest of three children, a well-rounded and gifted student, active in extracurricular activities with her biggest mark made as a member of color guard for the high school marching band, winning the role amid heavy competition showing her inner drive and tenacity at a young age.

After graduation, Alison made a beeline to Auburn University.

“I applied to just one school, and that was Auburn. Tuition was paid for with student loans and side jobs. I’ve always believed in working for what I have and consider myself an extremely independent person.” she said.

After graduating from Auburn with a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Foote quickly moved into the next phase of her life, in time becoming a mother to four precocious children.

“Right after school I got married, had my daughter Morgan, who’s now 23, and moved to Destin. My son, AJ was then born in 2003, daughter Alex in 2010, and son Max in 2012.” Alison said.

As a matter of coincidence, and around the same time frame, Foote’s parents moved down to Lower Alabama as well, settling near the sandy white beaches of Orange Beach.

“My parents always aspired to move to the beach, especially my dad. He was a big deep sea fishing guy, and his dream was to eventually have a house on the Gulf Coast. He wanted to be out on his boat and around the water.” Alison said.

Always ambitious, it was while working in Destin that Alison first became interested in exploring a career as a realtor.

“I managed bookkeeping part-time at a fitness center, and it was there that I noticed real estate agents coming in throughout the day talking about their best life. Inspired, I thought this might be a career to pursue, and I put in an incredible amount of hard work before seeing any benefits.” Foote said.

An opportunity also availed itself for Alison to be able to move closer to her family on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

“I was ready to move closer to my parents and the stars aligned, enabling us to move over to Orange Beach and buy a home. At that point I wanted to look for something in real estate and was soon hired as a runner and part-time receptionist for Bob and Susan Shallow, the owners of RE/ MAX.” Foote said.

“After about six months, I was offered a position as an executive assistant with one of the leading real estate teams. It was a transaction coordinating and assistant role with a lot more work involved which helped me to understand the business on a whole different level.” she added.

In 2005 Foote started selling real estate full-time under her team at RE/MAX. In 2007 the real estate market imploded nationwide due to the Great Recession, and she pivoted.

“I had also experienced some family life changes around that time that forced me to analyze things, and so I chose to make a change. I decided to take a role in vacation rentals and became employed with Meyer Vacation Rentals in Gulf Shores, there we managed about 2,100 units at that time.” Alison said.

Foote rapidly moved up the ladder at Meyer and ended up as Director of Owner Services

I was ready for a change, at that point in time, and had watched the market improve steadily for several years. I decided that it was time to get back into the market.

for the company managing the owner relations, business development, and maintenance teams.

Additionally, in February of 2018, she picked up her Florida broker’s license.

“I was ready for a change, at that point in time, and had watched the market improve steadily for several years. I decided that it was time to get back into the market.” she said.

“A friend had worked as a realtor at Century 21 Meyer and had gone to work for JWRE as the broker at the Orange Beach office. In 2018 I was put in touch with Jason Will and offered a position to started working for them as the Florida broker. I am forever grateful to Jason for the opportunity.” Foote said.

In summer 2019 Alison transitioned over to open the JWRE Gulf Shores office as a selling broker for Alabama and Florida. In 2019, her first full year in production, she hit $7 million in volume. In 2020, $10 million was reached. 2021 saw her climb to $13 million in volume and in 2022 she reached $12 million, with her team also producing $26 million that year.

To date, 2023 is tracking similar numbers collaborating with her team member Devin Kramer, a 2023 Rising Star nominee with Baldwin Realtors. In addition to her own real estate business, she just recently also worked with the JWRE leadership team to

oversee the complicated logistics of consolidating JWRE’S Gulf Shores and Fairhope offices into a new, larger space at OWA. JWRE is the only real estate firm onsite.

“JWRE has an amazing leadership team including Hannah Harrison, who graciously agreed to work alongside me heading up recruiting and management. She was able to negotiate an exclusive deal with OWA making our firm the only real estate office here for at least five years. Being able to actively take part in every seasonal event promoted by OWA will be a huge benefit for our agents.” Foote said.

“I think the best benefit overall, now managing 70 agents, is that we are bringing everyone back together and reestablishing our core culture. JWRE was founded on LEGS – Learn, Earn, Give, and Serve. We exist to uplift our agents and profession through a spirit of cooperation and learning. Our goal is to help our agents provide the kind of lives they want for their families and to give back to a fine community.” she concluded.

KORB Lauren

FAMILY IS everything

Lauren Korb, Mobile Bay Real Producers October Top producer, was born in Dallas and one of her first talents appeared at a very early age.

“My mom was a dancer, so I followed in her footsteps, I started at four and began going to competitions at the age of nine. I was quickly placed in the senior classes (at the age of nine) with girls ranging from 15 to 18 years old.” Korb said.

“The teachers always saw me as the focus, and I won many awards at dance competitions. My older sister was also in my classes, and we were able to hang out, which was great because family is very important to me. “she added.

Dancing also taught Korb discipline at an early age. Every day after school after homework, she would go straight to dance class, practicing from four o’clock to eight o’clock during the week.

Relocating to Montgomery in her teen years, Korb graduated in 2002 from Jeff Davis High School, and went on to graduate in 2008 from Auburn University in Montgomery where she majored in general business.

“Initially I wanted to major in nursing, however, my mom was a realtor, and she encouraged me to become a realtor as well. Her name was Lynn Clark, a very well-known realtor for 25 years with RE/MAX. She was one of the top agents in the state for years.” Lauren said.

“It was a big family affair, with my older brother and sister already working as realtors. In 2006 I started growing my business by meeting young buyers that were in the market for their first home. My mom also did a lot of foreclosures, so any buyers that she didn’t have time to work with, she would send them my way.” Lauren said.

Due to her mother’s focus on foreclosures, when the housing crash materialized circa 2007, Lauren’s team at

RE/MAX wasn’t affected and learned a lot about the foreclosure market in that time frame.

After earning her business degree from AUM, and learning the ropes at RE/MAX, Korb made a career move a few years later.

“In 2009 I went to work for Stone Martin Builders, a local builder in Montgomery. I was their listing agent for eight years and managed three communities at one time. They were

real producer

Korb eventually came around to her mother’s line of thinking and picked up her real estate license in 2006, enthusiastically joining her tribe while still in college for RE/MAX of Montgomery.

known for being cutting edge and energy efficient, using spray foam insulation and tankless water heaters, among other things, in their construction.” Lauren said.

Two years later saw a migration of the rest of Lauren’s clan to her company.

“In 2011, all my family came along with me to work for the builder. We would work in different model homes, and we would be able to see each other before and after work, at lunch and dinner. As a team we sold between 90 to 100 homes per year.” she said.

A significant occurrence happened in her personal life around the same time frame as well, when Korb met (and eventually married) her husband.

“In 2011 I was ranked as the number one RE/MAX agent in the state and fifth in the nation. A year later I met a local landscaper, Anthony Korb. We married, and my first daughter

Madison was born in 2014. My second daughter, Emma, was born in 2015.” Lauren said.

The first seeds planted for her young family’s eventual move down to the Gulf Coast occurred during summer vacations visiting Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and other tourist-friendly hamlets dotting the eastern shore.

“We really liked the Fairhope area and envisioned living there. Our kids were soon starting school and we wanted to put them in a good public system. We also wanted to start our life here as a family.” Lauren said.

Lauren’s interview process with local real estate companies happened almost seamlessly, due to eye-popping numbers attained up to that point in her career.

“I interviewed at Bellator, also with Nathan Cox, the owner of Truland Homes at the time, and sales

manager, Dan Beasley. I was able to present my statistics and show them my dedication to new construction as well as outside sales. They offered me a subdivision called Jubilee Farms in Daphne, which has been very successful.” she said.

Year to date, the numbers Lauren has achieved during her career are staggering.

Korb has closed over 1,200 homes, averaging 50-60 homes a year. Her first year locally at Bellator, moving down Montgomery in 2019, her sales volume was a respectable $3 million. In 2020 she hit $9 million. In 2021 her production skyrocketed to $19 million. Last year Korb leaped up again to a $22 million benchmark and, so far for 2023, she is tracking $10 million in sales.

Passing away last year but imbuing a strong sense of family to all her children who now reside in the same neighborhood in Fairhope, Lauren

26 • October 2023 @realproducers

unconditionally credits her success to her mother.

“My mom rapped Snoop Dog’s ‘Gin and Juice’ at my wedding. She was such a cool mom and it spoke to her uniqueness. She always made us feel safe and connected as a family.” Korb said.

When Lauren isn’t working, she enjoys boating, deep-sea fishing, shopping, and spending time with her children.

When asked about advice to give to those inspired by her story and wanting to possibly follow in her footsteps, Korb served up wisdom wrapped in wit.

“Never miss a call or text. If you don’t know the answer to something, find out immediately. Show people your efficiency and they won’t look anywhere else. Ask top producers to send any buyers your way they may not have time to work with. The key to being a successful agent is making each client feel comfortable around you. Being relatable is the ultimate factor in being great in this industry.” Lauren concluded.

NEWTON JIMMIE

BRIGHT FUTURE Owner of Lightspeed Restoration

Jimmie Newton, Mobile Bay Real Producers October Vendor Spotlight, and owner of Lightspeed Restoration of Baldwin County was born in Pensacola but now calls the Eastern Shore home.

“My dad was a project engineer, and we lived near whatever plant he was working at on projects lasting anywhere from 18 months to several years. I saw quite a bit of the country and ended up in Slidell to finish high school,” Newton said.

Upon graduating, Newton decided to pursue a career in the military.

“Over the summer, I worked in a local supermarket and decided to join the Navy. I have a lot of family in the military, and they greatly influenced my decision. After reaching out to recruiters for the Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force, I settled on the Navy,” Jimmie said.

“After graduating from basic, I went up to Great Lakes, Illinois to the service school command to train as a gas turbine systems technician. After finishing, I was sent to my first ship, the USS Kinkaid DD 965 out of San Diego,” he continued.

Jimmie also experienced another major life event as a freshly minted enlistee.

“I met my wife Maureen as a young sailor. My parents and her parents were working in North Dakota. I went there on Christmas leave and met this beautiful young lady while she was visiting her parents. We fell in love, got married in 1985, and have not looked back since,” Newton said.

“Very shortly after that I finished my tour on the Kinkaid and pulled up roots with my wife in tow. We moved to Naples, Italy for three years for my next station and my two oldest sons, Jimmie, and Chris, were born over there,” he added.

After Italy, Newton and his growing family moved stateside.

“We moved to Newport, Rhode Island to the Surface Warfare Officers School Command, and I was teaching the engineering propul sion course to division officers and depart ment heads coming through the Surface

in 2015, now including adopted son Baker as part of the large family unit.

“I was working for Austal and felt that it was time for me to do something different. Wanting to work for myself, I looked at just about every type of franchise model out there,” Jimmie said.

“One of the guys that I worked with after getting out of the Navy had opened an AdvantaClean and was talking to me about it. I looked at everything they offered and eventually felt that that would be a good fit for my experience,” he continued.

In February of 2020, Newton opened his own AdvantaClean franchise in Baldwin County.

In hindsight, the opening was welltimed due to the growing anxiety around the onset of COVID-19, at the time morphing into a full-blown pandemic relentlessly crippling commerce and shuttering businesses across many sectors on a global scale.

“We were heavily involved with that for our first nine months when Hurricane Sally came rolling through the area, causing major devastation. As a water restoration company, we were obviously incredibly involved with that work,” Newton said.

“As Lightspeed Restoration we are truly a full restoration company. We can go in and take care of mold damage, water damage, sewage leaks and odor control among other needs. Our focus is on customer service. We also partner with insurance companies and their adjusters. Our goal is to make sure everyone understands what is needed and custom fit our work based on the needs identified” he explained.

Fast forward a little over three years and now Newton has moved into the next phase of his business plans. Just recently, a grand opening and ribbon cutting was held for his new company, Lightspeed Restoration.

“With Lightspeed we are with the same parent franchising company, but we wanted to move more towards focusing on the water damage restoration and the fire restoration. Indoor air quality is also something that we can still do, or moisture control. Having a 24-hour restoration service is the goal that I wanted and when the opportunity to buy Lightspeed came up, we jumped on it,” Newton said.

Moving forward into 2023 and beyond, Jimmie plans to expand his territory, possibly looking at Pensacola and Dothan, as well ramp up staffing to around ten employees within the next few years.

“We have multiple certifications for our industry, with our CMRC/CMI designation for mold being the one most highly valued now in this climate. Lightspeed has been exceptionally good at making sure that we have the support and training that we need to succeed. We are looking forward to a bright future.”

Samry Kimberly ABUNDANT MINDSET

Kimberly Samry is a fantastic example of that.

As a REALTOR® with Elite Real Estate Solutions in Daphne, Kimberly brings a mindset of abundance to every interaction she has and each relationship she builds.

“I had been retired for a short time, and I was so thankful that I had my real estate investments. I knew what happened to the stock market and my 401(k) during the economic downturn in the spring of 2020. It sparked me to become very passionate about helping others grow wealth through real estate,” Kimberly says.

“The diversification and opportunities through RE are huge. Between relationships, focus on resale and helping people grow wealth, I feel very lucky to be doing what I’m doing.”

Dedicated Success

Kimberly found success on another path before finding her way to real estate. After majoring in finance and graduating from college, Kimberly started her corporate career with Scott Paper in 1984.

After starting her career in Winslow, Maine, she moved many times with the company … to places like Wisconsin, Arizona, back to Wisconsin, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and then to Alabama.

“Those moves weren’t really new to me. I was an Air Force brat growing up, so moving frequently was a definite way of life for me,” Kimberly remembers.

Time for New Steps

In 2019, after a very successful career, Kimberly took a voluntary separation from the company and looked to the next chapter in her life after 35 years.

“My husband and I had started investing in Alabama real estate in 2012, when we were still in Tennessee,” Kimberly remembers. “When we moved back to Fairhope in 2014, we accelerated our investing in the Fairhope and Daphne areas.”

It was the start of a passion that drew her closer to the industry. Eventually her mind was made up.

“On January 16, 2019, I remember calling my husband, Steve, who was on a ski trip with our children,” Kimberly says.

“As we talked, I asked Steve what he thought about me getting my real estate license. He told me to go for it. The next day, Steve died from a heart attack.”

Moving Forward

In the difficult aftermath of her loss, Kimberly moved forward with her real estate plans. She tested the waters at first.

“I thought about real estate as a hobby as I was getting my start, and I didn’t think I would sell more than a couple a year. But God rained on me,” she says with a smile.

“I was in real estate to make connections with people. The business is all about relationships. I never cease to be amazed at the level of business that I have been blessed to receive.”

Gaining Ground

After a slow start in real estate, Kimberly felt very lucky to team up with J.P. Ashworth.

“We sold five houses in 2019. In 2020, we moved to IXL Real Estate and then went solo. I value that partnership with J.P. so much because the support I got from him was incredible,” she emphasizes.

From there, Kimberly’s business hit a new, active phase. In fact, she sold 47 houses in 2021, followed by 49 in 2022. Through August 2023, Kimberly had already recorded 31 transactions.

“I think for me it really comes down to the relationships, referrals and having a true focus on doing what’s right for clients,” she says. “I get my joy from helping people find what they’re looking for.”

Family Highlights

Away from work, Kimberly is surrounded by true fulfillment in the people who are closest to her, including her children, Christopher; her twin daughters, Courtney and Alexa; and her special someone, Dave, who Kimberly describes as a very positive part of her life.

In her free time, Kimberly looks forward to spending time with her family and friends, as well as getting away on trips to explore brand new locations.

When you talk with Kimberly, it doesn’t take long to see her fair, consistent manner, and the way she dedicates herself with care to the needs of those she serves.

“For my clients, I want to take the stress out of their situations and fight for them to make sure they get the best and most fair deal possible,” she says.

“I’m watching out for their best interests. One word that is very important to me in the way I work with others is integrity. I do everything with that in mind.”

ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE

Welcome to Real Producers! Some of you may be wondering what this publication is all about, which is why we have created this FAQ page. Here, we will answer the most commonly asked questions from around the country regarding our program. My door is always open to discuss anything regarding this community — this publication is 100% designed to be your voice!

Q: WHO RECEIVES THIS MAGAZINE?

A: The top 300 agents in the Mobile Bay Area. We pulled the MLS numbers (by volume) from Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021, in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. We cut the list off at number 300, and the distribution was born. For this year’s list, the minimum production level for our group is $7 million in 2021. The list will reset at the end of 2022 for next year and will continue to update annually.

Q: WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING FEATURED IN THIS MAGAZINE?

A: The process is simple. Every feature you see has first been nominated. You can nominate REALTORS®, agents, affiliates, brokers, owners, or even yourself. Office leaders can also nominate real estate agents. We will consider anyone you bring to our attention because we don’t know everyone’s story, and we need your help to learn more.

A nomination currently looks like this: Email us at robert.orso@realproducersmag.com with the subject line “Nomination: (Name of Nominee)” and explain why you are nominating the individual. Maybe the person has an amazing story that we need to tell, or perhaps someone overcame extreme obstacles, is an exceptional leader, has the best customer service, or gives back to the community in a big way. The next step is an interview with us to ensure a good fit, and then we put the wheels in motion for our writer to conduct an interview and for our photographer to schedule a photo shoot.

Q: WHAT IS THE COST TO FEATURE A REALTOR®, AGENT, OR TEAM ?

A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. The feature costs nothing, my friends, so nominate away! We are not a pay-to-play model. We share real stories of Real Producers.

Q: WHO ARE THE PREFERRED PARTNERS?

A: Anyone listed as a preferred partner in the front of the magazine is a part of this community and will have an ad in every issue of the magazine, attend our quarterly events, and be a part of our online community. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One or many of you have recommended every preferred partner you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that you have not vetted and stamped for approval, in a sense. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network for the REALTORS® and agents in the area and for the best affiliates so we can grow stronger together.

Q: HOW CAN I RECOMMEND A PREFERRED PARTNER?

A: If you have a recommendation for a local business that works with top real estate agents, please let us know. Send an email to robert.orso@realproducersmag.com.
