Small is the new big! By - Raj Menon, EVP, Head - Customer Experience Solutions, Aurionpro

G

one are the days of 4000 Sq Feet, 12 to 15 tellers and 6 to 8 hours of operation, technology is to pave way for more downsized branches with a smaller footprint. Walking over to multiple service desks to get information on various aspects of your banking requirements will be a thing of the past. As more and more customers rapidly adopt online modes of banking, branches struggle to stay profitable using their current model. The bank branches have no choice but to think about changing realities. Customers’ branch visits have decreased by 20 percent over the past decade and the history is about to change further. With integration of queue management systems you could get a token on your handheld device and manage your personal time much better without having to wait for a long time in queue. This way one can engage with the bank even before leaving his/her home adding to customer satisfaction. Cost pressures and reduced transaction based revenue will cause branches to downsize and become slim in size. Traditional transactional engagements involving a teller will rapidly shift to more automated and self-service technologies. The teller will be involved for an advisory or more consultative approach, predominantly driving more sales. The branch itself will wear a retail centric ambience with innovative lobby designs and the technology will stimulate customer engagement with employees. Brett King, the best-selling author of BANK 2.0, wrote in his blog Banking4Tomorroww, “It is conceivable that all the transactional elements within a branch will be moved to automated banking with electronic banking centers, automated branches, ATMs, or the Internet within the next 5-10 years. What then is left? The face-to-face, value-add of a real, live human interaction.” In the foreseeable future banks will add more automation points within their retail branches to create cost-effective retail centric banking operations. Aurionpro, an important player in fin-tech industry recently launched

Mobility JUNE 2017

Virtual Teller Machine at an international banking exhibit. The Virtual Teller Machine has the potential to automate more than 90% of banking transactions. It uses Aurionpro’s ACE (Aurionpro Customer Experience) platform which is the converging point for all touch points. It is built on the strong foundation of an API centric framework and woven into the rich tapestry of HTML5 interfaces. It comprises of best business and social intelligence tools that enable seamless transition and contextual intelligence across all channels. With such platforms banks of the future have an opportunity to redefine the Omnichannel Customer Experience with a set of stable, secure and feature-rich multi-channel applications that are easy to use. The success of future branches will hinge on their ability to provide differentiated bouquet of services without missing out on any component including the frontline. Branch banks of the future must competitively augment their employees’ knowledge, professionalism and certification. They will need to upgrade skills of branch staff and keep them constantly aware of new bankrelated insights through continuous, real-time training. Traditional branches will have to adapt to changing scenario. ‘Bricks + clicks’ distribution model will significantly reduce the number of branches. With digitization moving towards mobile-first approach, the universal bankers will have to replace traditional tellers, and remote advisory services will have to be implemented with the support. In the coming years branch banking will witness a revolution. With increasing adaptability shown by the youth towards technology the future of space utilizing branch banking is about to change. The focus will be on delivering more value at less operational cost. The majority of the transactions will move into self service and the role of the tellers will be more advisory and less transactional in nature. Small will indeed be the new big.

The InnoVEX Pitch Contest, with a grand prize of $30,000 US dollars was won by Amaryllo. Addweup received the Foxconn Technology Group Special Award of $10,000 US dollars. Startup motivation was in full force at InnoVEX: Embrace Audio Lab of Taiwan offered a gum size of XPUMP signal processor which brings support to mobile devices with 3D surround sound effect; Nexstgo breaks the previous framework restrictions, released world’s first sandwich design of commercial smart phone; and Travis, which was able to achieve a 785% on fundraising platform, Indiegogo, presented the translation device that was able to translate 80 languages. Once every year Taipei becomes the center of the IT sector: Since the beginning of the 1980s, COMPUTEX TAIPEI provides more than a glimpse into the future. The COMPUTEX TAIPEI trade fair showcases technological progress in combination with award-winning design. The COMPUTEX d&i awards, hosted for the first time in 2008 by TAITRA in cooperation with iF, have become a constant feature of the COMPUTEX TAIPEI trade fair. It honors products that stand out through excellent design. In a festive ceremony presided over by Taiwan’s Vice President Chien-Jen Chen, the winners of this year’s COMPUTEX d&i gold award were revealed to the public. It was the tenth year of this successful design competition, organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council and executed by iF DESIGN ASIA Ltd. Five exceptional designs received the crowning victory of the competition, the COMPUTEX d&i gold award 2017. Meanwhile, a young company took home the special award, the COMPUTEX d&i rising star award 2017, for their innovative design of high-tech fishing float. Additionally, two long-time award winners were recognized with the COMPUTEX d&i distinguished contribution award for ten years of innovation and design in the ICT industry.

This is the 10th year anniversary of COMPUTEX and D&I Awards. 10 years ago when we select first applications everything was much more functionality, real physical product and conceptual approaches, after 10 years our judges figured out that we have many many more applications which are immediately ready to market instead of just conceptual. What we figured out is ofcouse the new application areas as we talk about IOT, UI ( User Interfaces), as ten years ago those things are existing but it was a technical Engineering discipline, now its turn to be a core design as today without any good functioning user interface there is no option to sell any product in global market. So the change is due to rapidly changing market, what I like very much is the makers approach and really involving startup companies, and startup companies are very important for the traditional entity because they put a question mark behind everything and that’s very necessary. So you shouldn’t think of buying an expensive poly carbonate shell as a waste of money. Especially the covers who not only protect your phone from getting damaged but also Provide you with additional benefits such as dual swipe case. This dual swipe case is a great innovation which provides the view of the upper screen as well as footer screen in half, the main advantage of dual swipe case is that you can easily attend or reject the calls even without opening the cover. (5) Use Screen Protectors The display of the phone is the most important also the most fragile part of the device. At a slight drop or mere carelessness is bound to cause the screen to crack or shatter. This is a very expensive affair to deal with. To avoid this it is recommended that you use a screen protector i.e. tempered glass. Get a suitable tempered glass screen protector. This will prevent the screen from scratches and also give added protection to the display to a great extent. The screen protector should be the first accessory you buy for your phone. (6) Charging or Over Charging There is always one question that arises in the mind How often should you charge a phone’s battery, and will charging it to 100 percent reduce its lifespan? These days smartphones batteries to don’t last as long as it used to in the past as we use smartphone for all our conversations like social networking, emails, photography etc which consume most of the phone battery. Hence it becomes important to charge the phone correctly. Leaving the phone connected to the charger when the phone is completely charged may lower battery life if you do it repeatedly. Overcharging or undercharging the phone can cause a damage to your smartphone so always ensure that you charge your phone once in the morning till the battery is full. Despite the fact that phones are highly vulnerable to damage you can still protect them. It would be safe to say that when high investments are involved and the product is fragile you must remember that, Prevention is better than cure.

Director Marketing at KeyPoint Technologies

Q Would you brief us on what Xploree- The Thinking Keyboard App is all about? How it works, and how it all started? Who needs Xploree and how Xploree helps them? Xploree is a smart mobile keyboard app that doubles up as a discovery platform. The smart keyboard app is available on android, only in India Q How many brands have you partnered with in India? Any plans to increase that number? We have more than 30 partners on board that includes both OEMs and brands. The number keeps growing more as brands have started to realize the power of the mobile keyboard app- a tool that is used the most in smartphones Q How do you wish to capitalize on the exponentially growing smartphone users in the country? Despite 100% penetration across smartphones; keyboard remains the most underutilized and passive input app / device. By today’s internet analogy, keyboard is to mobile what ‘Googling’ is to internet. Our vision is to build a future where the mobile keyboard can be leveraged to help people in their moment of need, create value for users as well as brands and improve the way people interact with their mobile keyboard. Q The most challenging aspects faced by Xploree in the market. As users take to their smartphone to stay updated, get entertained and chat endlessly, the possibilities to serve them in the most optimal manner are largely unexplored. There lies an opportunity as well as a challenge in deciphering human intent expressed on the smartphone. Building a platform that can replace ‘search’ is a big challenge.
