New virtual version of our History Hour lecture series. Join Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park staff for our first online presentation “Woodlawn Manor of Sandy Spring: The Headwaters of a Kinship Community.” Explore the history of Woodlawn Manor, the Palmer family and the diverse kinship community of Quakers, enslaved and freedom seekers in Sandy Spring, Maryland. Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Join Montgomery Parks archaeology staff for “Archaeology at the Oakley Cabin African American Museum & Park: Uncovering a Community’s Resistance, Resilience and Resolve.” Examine how archaeological artifacts found at Oakley Cabin illustrate a community’s creativity, agency and aspiration to create a space for themselves in a racialized society. Appropriate for ages 12 and up.
