Photographer: Roman Popov

Can you tell us a little about you? At present, I work as a legal advisor, but I enjoy taking photos during my free time. Photography is more of my hobb y rather than work, though I often perform com-mercial projects.

How and when did you get into photography? There was a time when I found myself unemployed, and I had to explore ways of making money for livin g, and photography became one of them.

What does photography mean to you? Photographing takes quite a large part of my life; it is like a ‘fresh breeze’ for me. Photographing allows creatin g capturing pictures, and it inspires me a lot.

Please briefly describe your photography style. I mostly capture portraits of women.

Where do you get inspiration from? Inspiration often comes during a shooting session itself.

Do you think in advance what you want in the pictur e? It depends on the shooting environment; if it a commercial job, then you follow the pre-determ ined plan. If it is a creative project, then you typically develop the idea during the shooting, whi le experimenting with light and various images.

Studio, on location? I take photos in any place, both in studios and in locations with natural light.

Would you consider you a hobbyist or professional? I consider myself to be real professional.

What has been your most memorable session and why? It was my birthday when I had to take pictu-res in the open country, and the day was marked as the birth my son!

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I shoot on Canon, but it is not fundamentally impo rtant. Right now my favorite camera lens is Canon 85 mm f1.2.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own busi-ness? My advice is to be passionate of what you do, and you will have good results.

What do you think of our new magazine? I take fancy in everything related to creative act ivities, and Modellenland Magazine is somewhat unique as it give s a chance for beginning photographers to publish their works and promote their talent. Their works w ill be seen in many countries, and it is amazing.
