From Chaos to Peace

by Kristi Williams Fontenot

Recently I was trying to get my family ready to go on vacation. There always seems to be so much that needs to be done when we are trying to go out of town. Between trying to finalize details for eight people in Disney to getting a business, a home, and two animals ready to leave for seven days, I found myself more than a little stressed out. It felt so chaotic trying to accomplish everything that I thought needed to be done. Then suddenly in the busyness of my day I could hear the Lord saying...Just stop and talk to Me...Just stop and let Me help you. Why is it that sometimes we allow ourselves to be surrounded with things that bring chaos into our lives? Did you know that the devil loves trying to distract us from the plans God has prepared for us? The devil knows that if he can distract us, then he can derail us from a life of peace and prosperity. And if we are not careful, we can quickly spoil Gods plans and ruin His intended blessings in our lives! When we are not focused on God and what He wants for us we can make our lives more difficult than they need to be. God never intended our lives to be filled with chaos or

stress, yet sometimes we welcome it with open arms. Chaos has a way of drawing us away from God, but God wants to take our chaos and turn it into calmness. Did you know that God will never lead you to something that will distract you from Him?! That doesn’t mean that there will be no hardships, it just means that God will help carry us through those hardships if we allow Him to. God will save us from the chaos around us, but we must be willing to step away from the things of this world that bring chaos into our lives and allow Him to carry those burdens for us.

I don’t know about you, but there are times I feel like I am carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. But God always has a way of reminding me that He will bring peace to my chaos by carrying those burdens if I allow Him to!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
