Selecting and protecting auxiliary power supplies

Introduction

Encoders, sensors and pre-actuators associated with the module require auxiliary power supplies (5VDC and/or 24VDC).

Type of power supply Only use regulated power supplies to:  ensure optimum reliable response time for sensors and pre-actuators,  increase the reliability of devices by minimum heating of module I/O circuits. These power supplies must be independent enough (> 10ms) to override micro-power outages and ensure the module continues to run effectively.

Protecting power supplies The power supplies for encoders, others sensors and pre-actuators need calibered fast-blow fuses against overloads and short-circuits.

Connection of the 0V supply to the protective ground: The 0V supply must be connected to the protective ground nearest to the supply module output.

General rules for installing the encoder power supply module  this must be used only for supplying the encoder,  it must be independent enough to override micro-power outages (> 10ms).  it must be placed as close as possible to the TSX CCY 1128 module to reduce circuit capacities to the maximum.
