Moeller looks to recapture claim as GCI!s best By Kyle Burch Community Press Staff Writer
last season the Moeller track team finished just three points shy of capturing the league title. The Crusaders, however, wound up finishing in third place. Such is life when you're competing in the ultra-competitive Greater Catholic League South Division. Moeller lost three state placers from that team and head coach Kevin Kohls returns to lead a very young, but promising team. . "Right now I don't really know who's going to step up for us," Kohls said. "We have some real young raw talent and we're trying to fill some holes." If the Crusaders have a strong point, it would probably be in their distance runners. They return two long distance runners who rank in the top 25 in the state indoor rankings as well as enjoying a strong cross-country season last fall Those two runners, Holden Marsh of Loveland and Brad Meyer of Indian Hill, will both compete for the league title as well as a top-ten finish at state. Moeller also returns a very strong duo in the pole vault event Patch McClellan and Joe Hook, of Amberley Village, will return after both finished in the top 15 at the state indoor meet They will help to fill the void from the loss of Chris Walter, who finished third at the state meet last
year. last season was the first time in three years that the Crusaders were unable to capture the GCL champi- onship, something that Kohls says has been on the team's mind since then. "It stung a little bit last year when we didn't win," Kohls said "We want to win the GCL every year and although we're young, our guys are going to go out there and work hard at getting that title back."
