Benvolgudes famílies, Aquí teniu la setena entrega de la nostra revista digital en anglès Bogamagazine, realitzada pels alumnes de P4 fins a 6è de l’escola, en col·laboració amb les mestres especialistes d’anglès. El tema que hem escollit enguany és el de països on es parla l’anglès, amb motiu dels projectes que els alumnes de P5 fins a 6è han realitzat a classe. Aquesta és una revista feta amb molt esforç, dedicació i afecte. A més, és una eina molt motivadora per als alumnes. Com ja sabeu, la revista només està disponible en format digital, ja que és l’opció més econòmica i ecològica. Esperem publicació.

10 INTERESTING FACTS OF INDIA

1. Animals What is the national animal of India? The royal bengal tiger ( Panthera tigris tigris).

Why are there cows on the streets of India? Because cows are sacred animals and if the cows want to stay in the street, they stay there and nobody complains. What is the national bird in India? The indian peackok (pavo cristatus).

2. FESTIVALS Two big Indian festivals are HOLI and DIWALI. Explain them.

The Diwali festival is a religion Hindu festival. Is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness. It is celebrated at night because is a festival with lights. Principally is celebrated on a lake and all people take their best dress.

Holi is a Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring. Known widely as the Festival of Colour, it takes place over two days, and is a celebration of fertility, colour, and love, as well as the triumph of good versus evil. People dress with white clothes and get dirty with the colours of holygulal . It is celebrated in India and Nepal.

What is the religion of India? It has no official religion, but more than 80 percent of Indians are Hindu. How many religions are there in India? India is home to at least nine recognized religions. The major religions practiced in India are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. Zoroastrianism, Judaism and the Baha'i Faith are also practiced in India.Â

The stories of Rama and Sita are famous throughout the world and their tales are told in the Ramayana. Rama and Sita are husband and wife. Sita is kidnapped by Ravena and Rama goes to rescue her. He and she have many adventures and troubles along the way. In the end, Rama and Sita are reunited. By Hayat & Ares 6th A

5. GAMES AND SPORTS What games do Indian kids play? Cricket, soccer, field hockey and badminton.

What is cricket? Cricket is by far the most popular sport in India. I have seen poster more than one time written “India have two religion “Cricket & Film”. India have produced some legend cricketers. These players make cricket most popular sport among Indian people.

What type of money is used in India? The “rupee”.

Which is the highest mountain in India? The highest mountain in India is Himalaya.

Which is the biggest river in India? Ganges: River Ganges is sacred to Hindus. The river is worshipped by Hindus as the goddess Ganga, and all along its course Hindus bathe in its waters.

8. CLOTHES What kind of clothes do Indians wear? Clothing in India varies depending on the different ethnicity, geography, climate and cultural traditions of the people of each region of India. Traditionally the dress for Indian women devoid of caste, creed and culture is sari. For men, traditional dress is dhoti.

Why do Indians wear bright and colorful clothes? In India, colour is not merely a means of ornamenting the body, artefacts or architecture. It is an integral part of all facets of life.

9. HISTORY How old is Indian civilization? India's earliest known civilization arose about 5,000 years ago on the Indus River in what is now Pakistan. Archaeologists uncovered the remains of two huge cities with brick houses, piped water, and sewer systems. Nobody knows why, but these cities, called Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, were abandoned in 1700 B.C. Who was Mahatma Gandhi? Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian Hindu lawyer, thinker and politician. His principles and firm belief in nonviolence have been followed by many important civil rights leaders including Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela. What is the Taj Mahal? The Taj Mahal  is considered one of the wonders of the world. It is a monument. History says that Shah Jahan, the Mughal king in the early 17th century lost his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. He constructed Taj Mahal in her memory and as a resting place for her tomb. The tombs of the Emperor and his wife are placed side-by-side inside this beautiful piece of architecture. By Alicia, Marian  & Luan 6th B
