Dairy Judging Teams say T HANK YOU!
Missouri 4-H and FFA Dairy Judging Teams continued their tradition of excellence by placing first in two international dairy judging contests as a part of the International Dairy Youth Tour. Missouri 4-H team members Grant Groves, Daryin Sharp, Ellie Wantland, and Lora Wright along with the Monett, MO FFA Dairy Judging Team of Sam Masri, Lilly Schmidt, Blake Wright, and Lora Wright judged in two contests. In Scotland, the teams competed with other winning 4-H, FFA and intercollegiate teams on June 23rd at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh. The pair of Grant Groves and Daryin Sharp placed first in the competition. Grant was the top individual and Blake Wright was the second high individual. The second competition of the tour was held at the National Holstein Show in Luxembourg. This contest was an individual event as tour members worked to see how closely they could match the official judge of the show. Contestants also selected the best udder in the class, and wrote a set of reasons to justify their placing. First place in this contest was Blake Wright, followed by Lilly Schmidt in second of Monett FFA. Two team members, Ellie Wantland and Lora Wright, had the opportunity to participate in showmanship at the National Holstein Show in Luxembourg. In addition to the competitions, they toured farms and historical and cultural sites, providing a variety of experiences for the team. Most team members had the opportunity to stay with a Luxembourg family for three days. In addition, all tour attendees visited the World War II Memorial just outside Luxembourg City where General Patton is buried. Thank you to everyone who encouraged, donated, or supported these teams in any way!!

EMBRYO DONATIONS
for Missouri Juniors
Do you have some older genetics just sitting in your tank? Have you just a couple of embryos left from a flush long ago that you don’t think you’ll ever implant? Here is a chance for you to clean out your tank and donate to a great cause. The Missouri Holstein juniors are accepting embryos of any type or amount that anyone would like to donate. They will be auctioned during the Missouri State Convention sale on January 19, 2018. This is also a great opportunity to purchase some embryos at a fraction of their cost. For more information or to donate please contact Jr Advisor, Shannon Kleiboeker at 417-737-2876 shannonkleiboeker@hotmail.com or Tim Ewing, Holstein USA at 417-818-6455 tewing@holstein. com. Thank you for your continued support of OUR Missouri Holstein Juniors! Thank you to previous donors: Robthom Farm, Lloyd Boyd, and College of the Ozarks!
Mark Chamberlin & John Denbigh anxiously watch a class.

Dairy Revenue Protection A v a i l a b l e O c t ob e r 8 , 2 0 1 8
The American Farm Bureau Federation,American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, and other collaborators have developed a federal crop insurance product to help dairy farmers.AFBF Chief Economist John Newton says the product provides insurance for the difference between the revenue guarantee and actual milk revenue if prices or revenues decline, without capping production. “We recognized that there are dairy farms of all sizes. We wanted to make a program that would work for small, medium and large dairies. So there absolutely is no cap on how much milk you can insure under the Dairy Revenue Protection Program.” Producers can use the new program along with the Margin Protection Program. Newton says the program is farmer friendly. “The farmer who decides to buy for production they expect to produce has to meet those production thresholds that we set forth in the policy. But, we don’t need to see that you have plans to move dirt, or that you’ve bought cows in order to ensure that milk that you expect to come online.” Crop insurance agents will be able to start unveiling premiums to farmers in a very short period of time. This is going to be on the market for sale October 9th.We’ve got all of our premium calculators set up so that you could see what premiums would be today if you were to go out and buy a policy.

• Dairy producers may choose from Class or Component Pricing: Under the Class Pricing Option, Dairy RP provides revenue protection based on an index of state-level revenue constructed with Class III and Class IV milk prices. The producer can choose the percent of Class III and Class IV used to establish their Price Guarantee per hundredweight to tailor to their operation. The Component Pricing Option is revenue protection based on milk component production, including butterfat, protein, and other solids. The producer can select the desired butterfat percentage and protein percentage. The other solids percentage is fixed at 5.7%. • The expected revenue is based on futures prices for milk and dairy commodities and the amount of covered milk production elected by the dairy producer. The covered milk production is indexed to the state or pooled production region where the dairy producer is located. • Policies correspond to the quarters of the calendar year, and producers may purchase policies for up to 5 nearby quarters. • Producers may cover up to 95 percent of their expected quarterly revenue. At the end of the insurance period, if the actual milk revenue is below the final revenue guarantee, the producer may receive an indemnity payment for the difference between the final revenue guarantee and the actual milk revenue multiplied times the share and protection factor. • Dairy RP is available in all counties in all 50 states. USDA Assistance for Farmers Impacted by Unjustified Retaliation August 27, 2018 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced details of actions the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will take to assist farmers in response to trade damage from unjustified retaliation by foreign nations. Initial Payment Rate: Dairy (milk) $0.12 / cwt. $127,400,000 ** Initial payment rate on 50% of production MFP payments are capped per person or legal entity at a combined $125,000 for dairy production or hogs. Payment for dairy production is based off the historical production reported for the Margin Protection Program for Dairy (MPP-Dairy). For existing dairy operations, the production history is established using the highest annual milk production marketed during the full calendar years of 2011, 2012, and 2013. Dairy operations are also required to have been in operation on June 1, 2018 to be eligible for payments.
