DJ Equipment You Need ♫♪♫♪

You can spend thousands of pounds straight away but that probably isn't possible if you're working towards a budget but do not worry because you can build up your mobile disco bitby-bit. There is essential equipment which is required to get the first few gigs under the belt and use your profits to buy more equipment later on.

Turntables - These are the original platforms all DJ's started off using in the career from the 1980's up until today and although most will play on CD players or digital controllers decks are still a great option for mixing. You can combine turntable decks using Time Code vinyls and a laptop by playing mp3 tracks straight on to the record.

CD players - The most popular CD deck out there is the Pioneer CDJ but these are expensive unless you go for a second hand option. Another essential tool for missing songs together which can work using standard audio CD's, USB Flash drives or combin CD's and laptop with Serato or Traktor sound cards.

Laptop and digital controller - These are most up to date platforms to buy which are light weight and fully digital allowing the DJ to mix mp3 tracks. They're not cheap in the short-term but they're the future of mixing and work well with a mobile disco setup. Mixer - A DJ cannot mix without a mixer as this is the base from which the mixed beats are put together. Two songs can be played over each other and faded out by using the base and treble controls. If you want to keep the dance-floor rocking by not having delays between songs, then a mixer is a must have in any disco setup.

Headphones - A DJ cannot do their job properly without a set of decent quality and high-powered headphones. These needed to listen to the song that you want to mix in or cue up whilst the dance-floor hears the song playing through the venues or mobile disco PA. Sound System / PA System - It's not the cheapest part of the setup but if you're looking to make decent profit margins in the long term then a good sound system is worth it. You can hire this part of the mobile disco setup, but it doesn't come cheap. Your options are either to buy a built-in amplifier and speaker, or as a separate system, however the built-in option is normally more expensive but much more convenient. A venue of course may have its own PA system that the DJ can plug direct in to.

Disco lights, rigs & stands - To go with the music and create a fitting mood, a dance-floor should be illuminated with intelligent disco lighting. The lights should be mounted to light rigging or tri-pod stands with T-bars. Extra effects like lasers and moving heads can help the party rock! Being a DJ is one of the best jobs going and you're sure to have lots of fun. You're in control of the audience and with great tools and equipment you can be sure to get a lot of enjoyment out of running a live disco. Your equipment must be good quality and reliable to ensure the bookings come in and so people can see what you use is good, so they can recommend your services.
