The Cake & Decadent Desserts

So, you have picked your venue, your wedding gown has been ordered, colors and bridesmaids dresses selected – now for one of the final details, The CAKE! When you make your design and tasting appointment, be prepared to answer some key questions. Your cake designer has reserved this time for you and it is respectful to be prepared and have an idea of what you like and your budget. Cake designers can create gorgeous cakes in every budget. Keep in mind, the best and most talented cake designers book up quickly as they can only create and deliver a certain number of cakes per weekend. Beach To Bay Bridal recommends that you book your tasting appointments 4-6 months prior to your wedding date. When setting up your appointment, be sure to tell the designer of any likes, dislikes or food allergies. Typically you, your fiancé and the mother of the bride or groom attend the tasting appointment. At your appointment, bring: • Any pictures of cakes you like • Color swatches • Approximate number of guests • Venue location • Your checkbook or credit card, as you will need to place a deposit to book the date with the cake designer. Final payment is generally due two weeks before the wedding. 12 Beach to Bay Bridal

Wedding Dress Shopping Simplified By Brittney D. Herz There are literally thousands of different styles and designs of wedding dresses to choose from for today’s bride. This can make dress shopping fun, exciting, nerve racking, and of course confusing. This is a quick guide to help you with basic wedding dress terms and designs for the beginner bride trying to find her dream dress. One, choose a flattering shape. You know there are going to be hundreds, nay thousands, of photos taken on your wedding day and every bride wants to look her best. That being said make sure you pick a dress that flatters your figure. A dress that looks great on a friend or in a magazine may do nothing for you once it’s on so be open to trying more than one silhouette. If you are very thin a ball gown can work wonders for your shape.

Q

If you’re more on the plus size end a mermaid dress can help smooth your curves or try something with a corset. If you are petite you may want to try an A-Line dress to elongate your body but if you’re taller an A-Line can work just as well for you. Tall women are recommended to look for anything with a simple silhouette. Two, think about your neckline. Necklines can range in everything from extremely modest to oh my! It’s all up to you on what you want to show (or not show) on your wedding day. A Jewel neckline is a modest cut that is almost similar to a crew cut t-shirt. Usually it is jeweled (hence the name). The Scoop is like the Jewel only a little lower cut, but still more modest than some other necklines. An Illusion neckline is one that is either sheer, or lace,

16 Beach to Bay Bridal

B2B Bridal.indd 16

8/15/13 5:21 PM

Q

or something similar to provide a light covering to the bride’s chest. V-necks and Halters are two styles that offer a bride a little more cleavage. Depending on the neckline will also affect your sleeve options. For example a Sweetheart neckline, which has a dip in the center making the appearance of a heart, is strapless while a square neckline usually accompanies sleeves. Three, decide on the length of your gown. Of course the most traditional is a floor length gown for a wedding. This is the most standard and probably one of the most formal of the options. Next step up is an ankle length gown. Still very formal and if you want to show off a killer pair of shoes may be better than floor length. Intermission gowns can be up to your knees, middle of shins, or anywhere in between. These dresses have become popular and are better for more casual or outdoor weddings. Knee lengths basically fall into the same category as Intermission dresses,

B2B Bridal.indd 17

they come off a little more casual but can still be very classy. Than lastly we have the miniskirt. A miniskirt traditionally lies above the knee, as short as the bride pleases, and is for very outgoing brides! Remember to keep in mind the type of wedding you are having. Is it an outside wedding in the summer? Then maybe you want to steer clear of a long sleeved ball gown. Is it inside in the winter? You can pull off most dresses for inside weddings but beings it’s winter you may want some length to your gown. Does your wedding have a theme or cultural elements you want to bring into your dress? Maybe you know you want a lot of flare in your dress for your Spanish themed wedding, maybe even a fan or large red bow. Maybe you know you want your “something blue” to be visible like a ribbon or flower on your dress. All these things need to be considered before you run your card to purchase your dress. Beach Wedding Hair Style

B2B Bridal.indd 19

Beach Wedding Hair Styles Up, down, all around? What are the best styles for beach wedding hair? Ah the ocean, a beautiful backdrop for your dream wedding. The sun beaming down, your guests in the sand, the water crashing behind you…all these things can lead to a gorgeous day. But they can also lead to a less than perfect hair style by the time you speak your vows. So what’s the best way to wear your hair if you want to get married oceanfront? One of the most simple styles, but still elegant if done right, is the high ponytail. It’s prefect for being outside in the hot sun, in the wind, and in the salty air that may cause some women’s hair to frizz. It can be played up with accessories or just left alone. Same goes for a low pony tail or bun which may be a little more elegant. A messy

G

up do can also do the trick when trying to look classy but without having to worry that all your tresses are in place. Another option would be a side braid. This can be done in a clean tight style or a more messy style, either way it’s a romantic way to wear your hair. And again, it can be accessorized or just left alone. If you are determined to keep your hair down for your special day, loose waves or curls have the whimsical effect that many women desire for their beach wedding. A half up half down would work also. Just remember you’re not inside and things will make your hair move. Also remember if you are wearing a veil take that into consideration before picking your style. If you want to really take your hair to the next level research different hair accessories that match your wedding motif. Beach to Bay Bridal

Be Radiant with health on Your Big Day!

By Lucretia Mahoney, LMT, Owner Chesapeake Massage & Bodywork Peace of the Bay Boutique

One statement we commonly hear from women is “I don’t have time to take care of myself.” Please replace that thought with “I can’t afford not to take care of myself.” On your wedding day, you want to radiate beauty. You want to glow with happiness and love. This is accomplished by living a healthy lifestyle in the months prior to your wedding day. It takes less time to follow a health and beauty regimen than you think; just a few minutes per day, or about an hour per week. The following suggestions will help energize you during the process of planning your wedding. The details of your perfect day will be accomplished in less time,

all while looking and feeling radiant. Up to one year before the wedding: • Pick your hairstyle so you have time to start growing into it, if needed. Start getting trims as often as your stylist recommends. Use a natural warm oil scalp treatment such as our Healthy Growth Scalp Elixir, and massage it into your scalp once a week to promote hair growth and relax your mind. • Start getting facials every 4 – 6 weeks to deep clean your pours and maintain the health of your skin cells. Be sure to

get a facial no later than 3 days before your wedding, to avoid discoloration. Do find a natural, gentle daily cleanser that purifies your skin without stripping it of its natural oils, such as our Organic Honey Facial Scrub. • Eat a colorful diet full of organic and unprocessed foods. The sooner you detoxify the healthier you will glow. Drinking a healthy amount of water and eating your colorful produce will hydrate your skin cells, plump out fine lines, and prevent dry skin and brittle nails. • Practice yoga. Take a class with a certified teacher and become your most radiant self by connecting with the temple that is your body. • Get a monthly massage. This will help you manage your stress, boost your immune system, nourish your skin and muscles, and reveal your

natural beauty by inducing relaxation. Our organic, unrefined massage oils and body butter products plus our licensed therapist’s expert techniques are just what your body needs to rejuvenate. Four to eight weeks before the wedding: • If you want to reduce cellulite before donning a honeymoon bikini, it’s not too late. Massage cupping and lymph drainage therapy are highly effective at breaking down the fibrous tissues that cause cellulite.

• A relaxed bride is a beautiful bride. Even if you haven’t received monthly massages during the planning process, we recommend a massage one month before your wedding, and another in the week preceding the nuptials. By making time for yourself, everything else will fall into place, and you will be the bride everyone else wants to emulate. May you experience many blessings in your wedded bliss, and in the years to come.

Plan ahead when it comes to professional photography. For example, if you want gorgeous photographs, think about makeup, lipstick and nail polish colors. Nothing ruins photos more than one bridesmaid experimenting with a ‘Goth look’ on your wedding day. Let the girls know in advance of your expectations and ask your Maid of Honor to remind the bridesmaids.

A Marriage of Equals By Brittney D. Herz

Though it may not be common these days to hear the words “would you like to be buried with my people” as a proposal, it can be used as the beginning of an Irish engagement. Irish weddings used to be only about procreation. Men were not permitted to be married unless he owned land and unless he was armed. Women were just supposed to be pure with a gentle voice. Arranged marriages were common, the wedding was arranged from the time the boy and girl were nine or ten years old, even if they didn’t meet until the day of their wedding. That has obviously changed through the decades but a lot of the old customs are still popular in traditional Irish weddings. Here’s some things you may want to consider if you are planning a traditional Irish wedding.

*

If you’re reading this then there is a chance that you are already engaged and ready to start planning the wedding; however, if you haven’t already proposed there are two popular ring designs to choose from. One is the Claddagh ring that will be moved from the right hand to the left and turned during the wedding ceremony. The other is called the Celtic eternity knot. It symbolizes the merging of the bride’s and groom’s lives into one. The fact that the knot never ends signifies this union is to last forever. Both of these are considered to be good luck when adorned with the bride’s birth stone. One of the most famous sayings for an Irish wedding is “Marry in May rue the Day” followed by “Marry in April if you can, joy for maiden and for man.”

Irish wedding customs are deeply rooted in folklore and superstitions. For example, before the wedding there is one custom that suggests the bride’s family is to invite the groom over for a cooked goose. It is also considered lucky for a bride to wear a horse shoe. More recently cloth horse shoes have become a popular item to carry instead of the real iron horse shoes which was common centuries ago. The bride is supposed to wait till the morning of her wedding before doing the last stitching on her dress. Still, if the dress rips, it is considered very good luck. In medieval times an Irish wedding would also have the tying of the hands were bride and groom’s hands are tied together, this is where the expression “tying the knot” came from. This has become a popular trend in Irish weddings today to have their hands ties together. In medieval Ireland white wedding dresses were not

*

in style. Most gowns were elaborate in color and, depending on your economic status, adorned with different jewels. It is considered bad luck for the bride to wear green and adversely it is good for a bride to wear blue, which represents purity. If you still want to be a traditional bride and wear a white wedding dress, a blue trim could be added to bring the old with the new. To complement the dress many brides used to wear a wreath of wildflowers in their hair. The most popular style of dress for a traditional Irish wedding is called Iona. It has long flared sleeves, is floor length, and usually has delicate lace work throughout. Nothing really makes an Irish wedding like the music. During the ceremony the sounds of a Celtic Harp will definitely help to send the bride, groom, and the assembly into a state of Irish bliss. Some places around the United States have Irish folk bands, but if

30 Beach to Bay Bridal

B2B Bridal.indd 30

*

* none are available then opt for making a CD of traditional Irish songs. The DJ should be more than willing to include these with the rest of the songs (if you are planning on having other kinds of music as well). Of course, you can’t have music at an Irish wedding without a song done by traditional bag pipes. Even simple songs like “Amazing Grace” sound beautiful when being performed by bagpipes and will help set the mood for all the guests. The vows exchanged can vary based on the religious views of the couple. Morgan Llywelyn translated on of the more popular Celtic vows in her book Finn MacCool. It goes:

B2B Bridal.indd 31

You cannot possess me for I belong to myself But while we both wish it, I give you that which is mine to give You cannot command me, for I am a free person But I shall serve you in those ways you require And the honeycomb will taste sweeter coming from my hand. I pledge to you that yours will be the name I cry aloud in the night And the eyes into which I smile in the morning I pledge to you the first bite of my meat and first drink from my cup I pledge to you my living and dying, each equally in your care I shall be a shield for your back and you for mine I shall not slander you, nor you me I shall honor you above all others, and when we quarrel we shall do so in private And tell no strangers our grievances. This is my wedding vow to you. This is the marriage of equals. Beach to Bay Bridal

*

After the first dance it is then time to make the toasts. The best man and maid of honor should be prepared with Irish toasts. Some may be as simple as “may your home always be too small to hold all of your friends” or they can be more traditional like “health and long life to you, land without rent to you, a child every year to you, and death in Old Ireland.” If you wanted to go the more religious route there are many available proverbs and sayings from the Irish culture that are centered on religion. One simple one is “may God hold you in his hand, but

never close His fist too tight.” However, some people prefer to take the light route with more humorous toasts “may the sun shine warm upon your face, but not after you’ve had too much to drink.” Then there is always the epitome of any wedding: the food. It is tradition to have an Irish Whiskey Cake as the standard wedding cake. If the couple wishes the top tier can be Irish Whiskey Cake and the rest a different kind. The whiskey cake is to be saved for the christening of their first child. No Irish wedding can be complete without the serving of Meade. It is a traditional honey wine. The recipes for making mead run from simple to very complex. Like with any wine, making mead takes a few days at the least, it may be much simpler to order it. Lamb is a traditional selection for meat in an Irish wedding. Working with

* a wedding planner could help you decide on the menu and catering options for this theme. Once the wedding is over, it is hoped that you will receive a bell as one of your many wedding gifts. The bells are thought to ward off evil spirits and calm the couple in times of turmoil. Some traditional weddings would even have the assembly or the musicians ring the bells before or after the ceremony. After the wedding the bride should not be alarmed if her new husband’s

mother decides to smash a piece of the wedding cake over her head. Though not customary today, this was to make the bride and the mother-in-law friends for life. Very simply stated, integrating Irish music, food, and customs into your wedding will change it from being a standard wedding into a traditional Irish wedding. Just make sure that bride and groom don’t sing during the reception. For some people that may be a relief, but for others that like to belt out a tune, you may have to control yourself for it is bad luck. Enjoy your marriage of equals!

Themed Weddings Themed Weddings: Where to even start? Many girls grow up knowing exactly what they want their wedding to be like. They want to be a princess or they want to go to Vegas and find an Elvis impersonator. However, a majority of women get a little stuck when it comes to actually planning their big day. Themed weddings are becoming very popular but what is right for you? Here are some ideas to help you start thinking of your own personalized wedding theme. Nighttime- Dark colors such as navy, black, and purples would be a good color scheme with pops of brightness in whites and silvers. This theme would obviously work the best if your wedding (or at least the reception) was set at nighttime. Candles and electric light could

X

really make a space glow like your guests are actually out in a starry night. Just make sure there’s enough light, you don’t want everyone sitting in the dark! There are many cute star themed decorations and favors that you could incorporate as well. Spring- A spring themed wedding can be over flowing with flowers and bright colors (or pastels) and have lots of fun touches such as umbrellas or butterflies. Now would be the perfect time of year for a garden wedding. However, spring weather is rather unpredictable so plan accordingly for inclement weather. Summer- A summer themed wedding could also include bright colors, think maybe sunset on the beach? Some ideas for decorations could

B2B Bridal.indd 36

X

range from everything to beach trinkets like shells, starfish, and palms to more tropical ideas like coconuts and hibiscus. Remember to keep the heat in mind if planning an outside wedding. Fall- For a fall themed wedding think burgundy, olives, purples, oranges, or even some yellows. Some decoration ideas could be anything nature inspired to go with the changing of the seasons like leaves, acorns, even pumpkins. Outside weddings in parks or other tree bearing areas are beautiful; just consider the random cold front that tends to creep in this time of year. Winter- A winter themed wedding can have just as much beauty and charm as the other three seasons (although you may want to stay indoors). Think of blues, silvers, and opal for your color scheme when decorating. Anything that shines or sparkles will set off the ice look. Or dark reds mixed with black or gold can be a more elegant color

B2B Bridal.indd 37

scheme for this time of year. Travel- If you and your partner love to travel or have big travel plans then it might be a good idea for your wedding theme. You can incorporate many different styles into this theme as well using old rustic luggage, vintage globes, or retro styled maps. Your invitations should display travel maybe with different stamps or looking more like passports. Picnic or BBQ- If you want the relaxed feel of a family picnic or barbeque at your wedding then why not make it your theme? The color scheme would work best using red, white, blue, and maybe yellow. Your main element would most likely be the food. Try to incorporate some barbeque that won’t leave your guests covered in sauce. Sweet tea, lemonade, and apple pie would be some good staples to have as well. This would work best as an outside wedding and reception.

Local Spots for the perfect Honeymoon

B2B Bridal.indd 41

Whether it’s because of work, kids, money, or you just plain love the shore and don’t want to leave, here are some local spots for the perfect honeymoon. Bed and Breakfasts are always a good choice for newlyweds. They’re quiet, cozy, and much more intimate than most hotels. That being said how do you pick a good one that’s local? One local option is The River House Inn. They describe themselves as a “spacious National Register Victorian home on the beautiful Pocomoke River.” The home truly is beautiful inside and out and offers many things to do in the area. If you’re more outdoorsy you’re close enough to waterways to go boating or fishing, or even just take a bike ride. If you’re more interested in shopping and dining your only minutes away from downtown

Snow Hill. Their breakfasts are all fresh and included every morning. They are highly rated and members of several associations. Also, they have special rates for off season. Unlike many B&Bs the River House Inn does offer a large in ground pool for their guests as well. Another local option would be the Alexander House Book Lovers B & B. It “is a literary-themed inn located in the quaint historic

district of Princess Anne. This is a Victorian home with rooms that have been designed to represent several authors including Langston Hughes, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Mark Twain. They offer breakfast, afternoon tea, or late night liqueur. Some nearby attractions are Crisfield, MD which offers ferries to Tangier and Smith Island or you could just walk into Historic Downtown Princess Anne. Want to be near Ocean City without actually staying in Ocean City? Waystead Inn is a Bed and Breakfast located in Berlin, Md. The history of the house is somewhat of a mystery thanks to a fire at the County Seat at Snow Hill in 1911. However, Waystead is a large Victorian home only a short drive to the Assateague or Ocean City beaches. Those who are on the more adventurous side can take advantage of local claims of the B&B’s haunted corridors.

Alexander House Book Lovers B & B

Bed and Breakfasts not your thing? Maybe staying right in the center of the action would be more suited to your kind of honeymoon. There are plenty of options for hotels and motels throughout Ocean City, MD where there is always something to do. The Clarion Resort offers very luxurious rooms right on the beach. With a view and private walk way down to the Atlantic Ocean, it is in an ideal location to all the happenings in Ocean City. Nearby are the Ocean City

Coconut Malorie is right next to Fager’s Island Restaurant. If you are wanting to go a little more north there is always the upscale option of The Bellmoor Inn & Spa in Rehoboth Beach, DE. They are located near the beaches, museums, shopping, and other entertainment. They serve a hot fresh breakfast every morning, have two swimming pools, and a full service spa.

Convention Center, Jolly Rogers Amusement Parks, Seacrets Nightclub, and a short ride away from the Boardwalk and rides. The rooms themselves all have free WiFi, flat screens with HBO, and room service available. The Coconut Malorie Resort is another luxurious hotel option if you are looking to stay in Ocean City. They also offer free WiFi and HBO to all their guests. Many of their rooms are even equipped with their own kitchen. Not into cooking on your honeymoon? No worries, the

Destination On the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Eastern Shore, it goes without saying that many look at the option of a Beach Wedding. With adequate time and planning or engaging the help of a Wedding Planner, you can create a custom Beach, Historic or Rustic Style Wedding that fits your budget. There are also some companies that offer ‘packages,’ making it easy to budget but fewer options to customize. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Historic Main Street Dreaming of a wedding like Julia Roberts in the movie Runaway Bride? Did you know that it was filmed in Historic Downtown Berlin, Maryland? Backdrops of historic brick buildings or a reception in an Restaurant-Art Gallery like The Globe Theater make fabulous memories and great photos! Your photos can become works of art in Black & white or sepia tones.

DIY Centerpieces There are many reasons

to design and make your own centerpieces for your wedding. To make sure they are original, make them more special, and of course to help you save some money. If you are working with a wedding planner they can help you with a design if you want the experience of actually making the centerpieces but are not sure where to start. Otherwise you can do it all yourself without breaking the bank. Here are some items that can be used to make chic and affordable centerpieces for your wedding. Various vases- Of course most women picture flowers in the center of their tables, but what are those flowers in? Traditionally a glass vase would be appropriate but nowadays that’s just one of many options. You could use different fruits such as a

D

pineapple as a vase. Gourds can also be hollowed and used as vases. Mason jars and revamped aluminum cans can add a very nice rustic look to your reception and can be very easy on the wallet. There is really a limitless end of possibilities; coffee mugs, rain boots, even old school clay pots. Wine corks- Wine corks are becoming a popular item to use for decorations in weddings. These may be the most fun to collect as well. There are so many things you can do with wine corks such as make picture frames for photos of you and your groom,

54 Beach to Bay Bridal

B2B Bridal.indd 54

8/15/13 4:21 PM

D

attach them to simple glass candle holders to make them more sophisticated, or arrange them into your initials or your new last name. Old Books- I’m not usually one for cutting up books but when it’s for a wedding I guess it’s okay. Using old books is a great way to add personal elements to your centerpieces. The easiest way to use some older books is just as a platform. You can set the table numbers or flowers if you have them, right on top of a few old books. If it looks too plain try standing one of the books upright and tying burlap or other kind of ribbon around it. With a little research there are countless projects available using the inside pages as materials for your decorations. Everything from a garland of hearts to rose wreaths to actual furniture. Photos- Ah memories…there are literally countless ways to display photos of you and your

B2B Bridal.indd 55

partner to use as a centerpiece. For a shabby chic look check out your local flea market or thrift store and get as many mismatched frames as you can. If you have a more finite color scheme then just focus on getting an array of sizes and paint the frames to match your theme. Grouping different sizes together usually looks the best. Remember photos do not have to be in frames! You can display them however you want; hang them from little decorate trees, attach them to candle holders, have them peeking out of your flower bouquets. You may want to have small labels on the photos to help guests know more about the photo. Beach to Bay Bridal

How to pick your photographer

B2B Bridal.indd 57

When planning your wedding there are some important things to consider first. The venue, the date, the guest list, your dress, and of course the wedding photographer. Your wedding photos are arguably the most important mementos you will take from your special day. They will hang in your home, your friends and families home, and be viewed for years to come. With that said you want to be sure you’re getting the best for your money. You’ll want to start communicating with the photographer as soon as possible. Many photographers book months, sometimes a year, in advance. A good way to start narrowing down your options is by word of mouth. Ask friends, family, and coworkers of photographers they know and like (or that they know they

8

don’t like!) and start a list. If you are using a wedding planner they can help you with this as well but don’t assume you have to go with whomever the planner recommends. Don’t just settle for the first name you hear and assume that they will be the best for your wedding. Do your research. Look through local print publications for advertisements that stick out to you. When looking at the photographer’s portfolio you’ll want to examine the photos carefully. Is every single photo very posed? That might be a bad sign. On the other hand if every photo seems candid that may also be bad. Look for a photographer that has a good mix of the two. You’ll want someone who can direct your wedding party while still have a creative eye to capture the reception and other impromptu Beach to Bay Bridal

Rox Beach Weddings

moments. Are all the photos in black and white or do they seem too light or too dark? Again this is something to consider. It is possible that the photographer's light sources is different than what you may want. Every photographer has a different style. You will definitely want to research the photographer’s website and see if style matches what you are expecting for your big day. Also, there is the issue of budget. Make sure you address this issue up front. Look on their site for their prices, email them for any

package discounts they may have or off season discounts. You will also want to decide how you would like your pictures. Do you want all the prints? Just some prints and the rest digital? Are you mailing out some of the better shots? Things like this you need to discuss to better determine a price for you and your photographer. As I said you’ll want to get in contact with the photographer a.s.a.p. Remember you can interview as many photographers as you want, you don’t have to narrow it down to who you

58 Beach to Bay Bridal

B2B Bridal.indd 58

8/15/13 4:24 PM

think you are going to choose and then contact them. Contact first, and then decrease your options from there. After you reach out to them you can start to judge their professionalism. Make sure they get back to you in a timely manner. If they seem more apt to tell you about themselves as a photographer and less interested in the details of the wedding this could be a bad sign. However! You do need to pry. Ask them how long they’ve been photographing, how many weddings have they done, will they continue to do this in the future. Don't write off a photographer or a company just because they are new or don't have a long list of references. Many beginning photographers are just as talented as their seasoned counterparts. If you are leaning towards a newer photographer make sure to examine their profile carefully. One thing to watch out for if you decide to use a photography

B2B Bridal.indd 59

company is to make sure your demands are clear. Companies have a tendency to send out whoever is free and it may not be the original photographer you discussed your visions with. Make it clear who you want and that you will accept no one else. Also, it’s not a bad idea to have a backup. Things happen, and while you can’t rightfully book two photographers for the same day (unless you want to and can afford it) keep a small list of photographers that claim to have more availability.

Top Ten Top Bachelorette Activities 1. Start your day getting a pedicure with your besties! Include your Mom and future Mother-in-Law. You may not want them to join in the evening activities, but including them on a mani-pedi will make them feel special and included. 2. Schedule a weekend at the Beach to chill out and re-connect with girlfriends. Ocean City has fabulous year-round night life. Go to Fager’s Island to do their bridal scavenger hunt. Seacret’s is fun too! Take the City Bus (only $2 for all night) and take pictures. 3. Boudoir Photo Session with your Besties! This will make extra special gifts for your future spouse and your girlfriends husbands/partners.There are several highend hotels that have great backdrops and décor that would be perfect. Ask your photographer if they have experience and samples. You and your girlfriends need to go lingerie shopping first if you are planning to do this activity! 4. Learn to Pole Dance & Pole Fitness at Pole Power Studio in either West Ocean City or Salisbury locations. They have special bachelorette party packages! 5. If the bride is into fitness, schedule a Bridal Bike or Kayaking Adventure Trip. This can be a one-day or multiple day adventure depending on time and budget. 6. Road trip to a Bed & Breakfast – the owners will know of all the interesting and fun things to do in the area – so plan ahead. 7. Rent a limo and visit a couple of the wineries or breweries on Delmarva's Wine & Ale Trail – ie. Bordeleau Vineyards or Layton’s Chance Winery. For lunch, go to Historic Berlin - shopping, dining and wine tasting. If you like beer, stop by Burley Oak Brewery. 8. Get your first or another tattoo with your girlfriends! 9. Enjoy a half or whole day at the Spa. 10. Get the Bride Organized day. This is for the stressed out bride who is clearly behind in executing her plans. Sunrise Weddings Everyone has a bucket list that often includes watching the sunrise. And For many people watching the sunrise on the beach is on that list. What if you could do just that and get married at the same time? Picture this- the first streaks of sunrise are over the ocean, it is eerily quiet and the only people stirring are the fishermen everything is slightly moist and smells fresh. The sky is a beautiful red, yellow, & blue with just a hint of the heat from the upcoming day. As you approach the beach there is a beautiful arbor complete with candles twinkling from some hanging lanterns, a few rows of white chairs are setup and ready for the guests, more lanterns line the isle with their candles welcoming the bridal party and their guests. All that is visible at this point are

A

shadowy images of the scene. It is still dark but a light dark. As the guests arrive they are greeted with a breathtaking view of mother natures finest work sunrise over the ocean from the beach! With proper timing everyone should be seated and the bridal party ready to go before the sun comes up. As the bride and groom exchange vows the sun slowly rises over the ocean lighting the ceremony as it come. By the time “I Do’s" are said the sun has come up and it is the beginning of a beautiful beach day. The wedding pictures from a sunrise wedding will be breathtaking and different from almost everyone else’s. Definitely a ceremony to remember! If you are planning a wedding think about the

many options you have for a destination wedding whether it be sunrise or sunset, on the beach or on the bay. The photo opportunities are endless and breathtaking. Another thought is to get married on a private boat with your immediate family and later have the big celebration with everyone else. This year weekend weddings are very popular. On Friday night host a welcome reception with a signature drink (named for the bride and groom) allows the couple to mingle with all of the attendees. Saturday is the wedding day so all of the festivities that go along with that ensue. A sunrise wedding allows everyone to enjoy a day at the beach or one of the many other things on the island. Followed by an evening reception. Everyone has had a full day of sun and fun! Sunday a brunch is a great way to send everyone off! The bride and groom have 82 Beach to Bay Bridal
