GM Hess called upon his Deputy Grand Master, RWB David Ramsey, Senior and Junior Grand Wardens (RWBs Jon Broyles and David Haywood) to perform the “Masonic Dedication Ceremony”, the pouring of corn, wine and oil. This was followed by the holding of the symbolic “Blue” Ribbon which was then cut buy the MLR Master RWB Houge.

The Annual meeting of the MLR was held in the Windsor IV Room of the Holiday Inn Select Hotel at 4:15 PM on Monday, September 24, 2012. RWB Larry Houge, Worshipful Master, welcomed a room filled with members of the Lodge of Research to our Annual Meeting. He called upon a Grand Chaplain, RWB Dale Roller, to lead us in opening prayer. He then called upon the Secretary for the minutes of our previous meetings. RWB Miller stated that the minutes for the 9-26-11 and 512-12 meetings were all found printed in the Grand Lodge Reports Booklet handed out this morning and, if approved now, would be printed within the GL Proceedings. They were approved. RWB Miller then stated that the Treasurer’s Report is found on pages 130-133 of same book and that currently we have about $170,000 in all of our accounts. He then stated that the income from the Missouri “Masonic” License Plates is doing well for us but we needed all members to apply for said “License Plates.” At this time our Grand Master John Hess, MLR Tiler, was called upon to report on the “Dedication and Ribbon Cutting” of the new MLR Library in the Masonic Complex Building this morning. MWB Hess stated that there was an enormous crowd there to witness a dream of our Past Grand Master and

At this time, RWB Steven Harrison, MLR Fellow and Junior Warden and Editor of the Missouri Freemason Magazine, was called upon to report on his recently published book titled “Freemasonry Crosses the Mississippi”. He stated that he started by writing papers on Freemasonry which resulted in over 200 pages spanning from the first Masonic Lodge west of the Mississippi River through MWB Harry S Truman as President and Freemason. This book has been designated as the Missouri Lodge of Research book to be given to all members in 2012. RWB Aaron Shoemaker was called upon for report of future Truman Lecture Series speakers. He had just returned to our meeting room at this time so only reported that he has been in contact with a Right Worshipful Brother from Scotland with the Grand Lodge of Scotland who may be a near future speaker for the MLR. RWB Aaron has not been slowing down on getting us some of the best speakers possible for our Lodge of Research Breakfasts and Luncheons. Can’t wait ‘till next year. RWB Hogue then said that he feels that our MLR has accomplished a milestone year this year and particularly thanked RWB Ron Miller and his right arm, Adriene Green of the GL office for their continued support. He also thanked MWB John Hess for all he has inspired this year and all those, too many to name, who have helped with the work needed for the dedication of the Library. He then called for the report of the nominations committee for next years officers. The following Brethren were named and assumed their place in the line formed for installation. All of the new officers were then installed by MWB Bill Soutiea. Following are the MLR officers for the 2012 – 2013 year: Nicholas R. Cichielo as WM, Steven L. Harrison as SW, L. RULES FOR PLAY: You must circle the names of Officers (in BOLD ONLY), LETTER BY LETTER, in the puzzle above, then line through or check the name off the list. DO NOT black or blot out the letters in the puzzle as some of the same letters are still used in another name. The name, or part of a name, within the parens (--) above WILL NOT be found in the puzzle. Only the part of or name in BOLD will be found in the puzzle. When you have found ALL but one of the above names in the puzzle, you should have several letters NOT circled. Writing down each of these letters from the top left to the bottom right, will sequentially spell out the name of the NEW Grand Lodge advancing line Officer whose name will be the answer. Who is it? What office does he hold? Call a member friend who may have worked this puzzle and see if you got the same answer they did. I will include the answer in the next issue. Last Newsletters Answer: W. HUGH McLAUGHLIN, PGM 1973

MISSOURI MASONIC LICENSE PLATES One of the best ways to help advertise Freemasonry in Missouri is by your displaying a “Personalized Masonic License Plate.” Missouri State requires a minimum $25 per year tax deductable “emblem use fee” paid to “GRAND LODGE OF MISSOURI”, which will be donated to the Missouri Lodge of Research. Registration fee for your vehicle is the same as a regular plate EXCEPT you must pay an annual ‘personalized plate’ fee to the State which puts the Masonic Square and Compasses on your plate plus any available, acceptable, up to 5 letter/number combination you choose. The form for “emblem use” is available on GL Web Site www.momason.org and any state authorized license office will provide you the form and instruction for applying for your personalized MASONIC EMBLEM license plate. It is relatively simple. Let’s see a whole lot more Missouri Masonic License Plates on the streets and roads!!

From Socrates: 1. Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change. 2. Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't bother figuring it out. 3. Humor: No matter what circumstances, do not lose your sense of humor. 4. Change: Do not be so sure in life; anything can change. 5. There is never nothing going on. There are no ordinary moments. 6. This moment: The past and the future do not matter; all that matters is now, this moment. 7. It's not the destination that brings happiness, but the journey. 8. Take out the trash from what's inside your head. 9. Empty your mind. 10. Everything has a purpose, even this, and it's up to you to find it. 11. A warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does. 12. I call myself a Peaceful Warrior... because the battles we fight are on the inside.
