With more than twenty years making generally ends when she
of experience as a seasoned assistant state attorney before winning her seat as a circuit judge in Marion County several years ago, one would say Sarah Ritterhoff-Williams is at the top of her game. So then, what is she doing cleaning up cat vomit?
Sarah recently caught up with
Momazine in a photo shoot and interview where she had some pretty interesting things to share.
For starters, she really does clean
up cat vomit. Like most moms, Sarah is trying to balance it all. Judge Ritterhoff-Williams and her husband Danny are parents to two teen-aged girls. She often finds the black robe does not apply at home. While she has the utmost respect at work things are different as a Mom. Dad is obeyed more in the Ritterhoff-Williams household.
leaves the courtroom. There are times decisions will stay with her and she wonders why she is still mulling things over but as a mother decisions are never final. Sarah had this to share: “Every decision we make as parents, right or wrong, we still second guess ourselves. For one reason, we aren’t going to know for quite some time if it is the right decision or not. It may take many years to know if we have done our job correctly.”
Many of us think of cops and
firefighters as keeping things safe in our local community but Judge Ritterhoff does her part too. In large measure Sarah does this by ordering defendants on probation with required screening not to drink or do drugs. If she sentences jail time, Ritterhoff knows they are not out drinking, driving, and endangering the rest of us. “That is all I’m doing. I’m not When asked how being a judge fixing them but for that period is different than a mom she not- of time, I know they are not out ed that as a judge her decision there hurting anyone,” says Sarah. 5
Most days for Judge Ritterhoff-Wil-
liams are a balancing act between the scales of justice and the sensitive nature of teen aged egos. Each job requires her to make the right decisions all while presenting different challenges as a Mom and a Judge. It is refreshing to discover that all moms share this struggle in finding stability to life as we aim to provide the very best for our families.

A Paper Boat Themed 4th at Woodmar Grove Photography by Kristie Griggs of Pure Joy Photography Article by Charles Collins Styling by Jaime Compton 29
A History of Woodmar Grove by Charles Collins
“Woodmar Grove” has been in constant commercial citrus production since the late 1890’s and is the northernmost commercial orange grove in Florida. With original land purchases by the Taylor family , the grove has produced oranges, grapefruit, tangerines and tangelos over the years, being planted and replanted after crippling freezes. Currently, 350 acres are under citrus cultivation with Navel, Valencia and Hamlin orange varieties. The grove borders “Silver Lake” which serves to protect the grove from damaging cold weather. The lands surrounding Silver Lake are owned by business entities of the Collins and Bailey families, direct decedents of the original Taylor Family owners. The success of the grove depends on partnerships with many businesses. Honey bee pollination, producing famed “Orange Blossom Honey”, various manicurists, harvesters and daily attention and care by grove manager Gerald Willis insure Woodmar Grove consistently produces one of the earliest and most sought after fruit crops in the state. 30
