Welcome to the Spring edition of our seasonal club members newsletter!
Hi! I’m Lucy Emerton and I’m excited to join the Champneys Henlow family as your new Fitness and Wellbeing Manager.
With over eleven years of industry experience, I will put all my accrued knowledge and expertise to work with you and accompany you in your fitness journey. You can count on me and the rest of the wonderful Champneys Fitness and Wellbeing team to help you define and achieve the best version of yourself both physically and mentally. I’m fully committed to offer you a clean, safe and friendly space to exercise and reach your personal fitness goals.
I look forward to meeting you all, whether seeing you in the classes and gym or once you have enjoyed some mindfulness time in our Scandi-style snooze pods come around and say “Hi!” I will be delighted to assist you in any way possible.

SPECIALIST THERAPIES ON ZOOM
CLAIRVOYANT READINGS - £85 for 50 minutes
Sandi Clark Mayes is currently available for Zoom readings which can be booked at Fitness in Tring– she has been doing clairvoyant readings at Champneys Tring, and the other resorts for over 16 years She also works in person and on Zoom in Dubai, Australia, New Zealand and France. She was trained in mediumship at the Arthur Findlay College in the UK. Her readings are tailored to the needs and requirements of each client. She also teaches mediumship at both foundation and advanced levels.
Sandi has the ability to sense the mental, emotional and physical processes of people. In that way she gathers information about the past, present and future potential of her client (categoric future telling is illegal in the UK) in order that they have a clearer understanding of themselves, how they are affected by other people, what is going on in their lives, their calife purpose and their potentials and abilities. She can look at specific areas of a person’s life if that is wanted. If it is acceptable to her client, Sandi is also able to connect with those who have passed on, identifying them and passing on any messages or answers to client’s questions.
Sandi lives with her husband Mike on the Roseland in Cornwall and so was only available once a month pre-pandemic. Due to lockdown, she has discovered that all elements of a reading work equally well on Zoom and a big advantage is that clients can have a video recording of their reading included in the price. Zoom means that she is now able to be available five days a week for Champneys clients.
DEEP ENERGY HEALING - £85 FOR 50 MINUTES, £ 45 FOR 25 MINUTES
Mike Mayes is now available for Zoom deep energy healing which can be booked at Fitness in Tring - he has been doing Deep Energy Healing sessions at Champneys Tring and the other resorts for 9 years– he also works in person and on Zoom in Dubai, Australia, New Zealand and France. He was trained at the Arthur Findlay College attending several courses a year for ten years. Each session is carried out based on the healing needs of the individual client. He carries out this all-encompassing therapy which - mentally, physically, emotionally and energetically - relaxes, re-conditions, repairs, rejuvenates, re-energises and balances. You stress and anxiety levels will be reduced, your quality of life improved and you will experience better sleep patterns. The effects of this treatment are on-going, and you will be given information about what healing was needed, why it was needed and what action you can take to avoid re-occurrence of the blockages and imbalances.

INTRODUCING MYZONE - YOUR PERFECT WORKOUT PARTNER IS HERE!
At Champneys Health Clubs we understand the importance of time and any time committed to a workout must be time well spent.
We all want maximum results in the minimum time hence why the trainers at Champneys use Myzone:
WHAT IS MYZONE?
Myzone is a wearable activity belt used to record your exercise effort (rather than fitness), so it doesn’t matter if you’ve been training for years, or are just dipping your toes into it. It’s based on your individual stats and is accurate (equiv. to an EKG at 99.4%). This means that it’s a level playing field for all (think of it as a golf handicap!)
By using Myzone you will be encouraged to reach those activity levels that give you the results you want and be rewarded for it!
THE BENEFITS OF MYZONE:
• You will be able to view your effort live in club on the Gym TV’s AND on your smartphone
• You will be able to record ALL your activity (inside and outside of the club!)
• You will earn points, gain status rankings and get rewarded
• You can enter challenges or set your own challenges
• You can connect to 3rd party equipment for maximum

USEFUL INFORMATION
MEMBERSHIP CARDS
Please ensure that your membership card has been updated to the new barcoded card. In order to produce the card we require a photo ID. If we haven't already updated your card please go to the Wellbeing & Fitness Desk to have your photo taken this month. Unfortunately, we cannot issue new membership cards without a photo ID or allow you to use the Club.
SCANNING IN & OUT
For health and safety reasons we require all members to scan in and out at the Wellbeing & Fitness Desk. Failure to do so may result in termination of membership.
MEMBERSHIP TIMES
Please remember the club usage times apply to your membership type. It is important that you adhere to these, otherwise we will be forced to withdraw your membership.
GYM USE
We advise that all members seek guidance from the Wellbeing Team before using any new or unfamiliar equipment. Please note the gym is unsupervised at various times of the day. If you are pregnant, have injuries and / or medical problems or have not used gym equipment before please contact a Wellbeing Coach prior to use. For health and safety reasons please ensure you are wearing suitable exercise clothing and trainers when using the Gym. Use of the Gym and equipment is at your own risk.

•Don’t forget your kit
• Towels are included so no need to bring one
•Check you have your membership card to scan in on arr ival
•Book your class to ensure availability via the Champneys app. Members can book up to 6 days in advance
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
•Come to the Wellbeing & Fitness Reception to say ‘hi’ and scan in
•Let us know if you are new so we can guide you especially on class and gym advice
• Take a locker band from reception
•Get changed if you need to and then pop your belongings in a locker
DURING A CLASS
•Let the instructor know if you are new to the class, have an injury or are pregnant, so they can give you extra attention
•Listen out when told what equipment you need.
•Work hard, enjoy and get sweaty...
•Be respectful to each other

•Ask the Instructor or team at the Wellbeing & Fitness Desk if you have any questions or would like any class recommendations. •Skip out the door. It’s compulsory!
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
Make use of the fantastic grounds that your club has to offer and play a game of tennis/ pickleball or go for a walk. We also offer swimming lessons whether you are looking to learn to swim, learn a new stroke or improve a current one.

01 Oestrogen Levels
One of the most significant changes that occur during menopause is a decrease in oestrogen levels. This hormone plays a crucial role in bone health, and as oestrogen levels decline, women are at an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. To combat this, it’s essential to include weight-bearing exercises in your fitness routine. Activities such as weightlifting, jogging, and dancing can help build and maintain bone density.
02 Weight Gain
Another common symptom of menopause is weight gain, particularly around the waistline. This can be frustrating for women who are used to maintaining a healthy weight. However, it’s important to remember that weight gain is a natural part of the aging process, and it’s not something to be ashamed of. To combat this, focus on a healthy, balanced diet that includes plenty of whole foods and lean protein. Incorporating strength training exercises can also help increase muscle mass and boost metabolism, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight.

03 Mental Health
Finally, menopause can also impact mental health. Mood swings, anxiety, and depression are all common during this time. Exercise is an excellent way to alleviate these symptoms. Even moderate exercise can release endorphins, which can improve mood and reduce stress levels. Yoga and meditation can also be beneficial in reducing anxiety and improving overall mental health.
In conclusion, menopause is a natural and unavoidable part of the aging process. However, with the right tools and resources, women can navigate this transition guidance. By incorporating weightbearing exercises, maintaining a healthy diet, and prioritising mental health, women can stay active, healthy, and happy throughout this phase of life.
