Finance Issues - International Students Tuition Fees – The amount you will be charged for your tuition fees will depend on the course you are studying. It is important to ensure that you are prepared for the expense. 50% of the tuition fee cost must be paid prior to enrolment; the remaining amount is due in the second term. Be aware that a levy of 1.5% is charged on all credit card payments. Check your fees and payments dates at: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/international-fees/ Grants, Bursaries & Scholarships – Because there is very little funding available to International Students, you are strongly advised to research funding possibilities prior to the start of your course. It is usual for any bursaries, grants or scholarships for which you have successfully applied, to be arranged and confirmed prior to travelling to the UK. More information about possible funding is available here: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/international/students/fees-and-funding/ Financial Difficulty – As an international student, you are expected to have organised money for your course fees and living costs before you came to the UK. Under the Tier 4 student visa rules, you will have demonstrated to the UK immigration authorities that you are able to meet the cost of your tuition fees and living costs (and those of any family here with you) for the whole of the time you are here, without having to work or claim welfare benefits. Suspension of Study - If your financial problems are long term and/or a significant amount of money is required, there is very little that can be done to help. A suspension of study may be the only option. In this case you are strongly advised to speak with your department and with an advisor from the International@CampusLife team. It is important that you are aware of how suspending your studies may affect your visa status.

Maximising your income - If you are in the UK in the immigration category of student, you may be allowed to work a specified number of hours per week. However, working must not be your only source of income. You still need to have other funding or sponsorship. Speak to an ISAS advisor if you are unsure about your status.
