4

On 21st March, some students of 3rd of ESO have been to England for a school exchange. The first day, when they arrived in London, they went directly to Fleet to visit Calthorpe Park School.

Activities they did (first activity) 5

The first activity they carried out was in groups of two, three or four (English and Spanish students mixed), they took a visit to the school and the English students explained them all about their classrooms and the school.

Second activity 6

In pairs, a Spanish student and an English student asked each other questions to know their partner better.

Third activity 7

The English students showed a powerpoint presentation about English culture and about the things they did last year when they came to visit us in Barcelona, among other things.

Fourth activity 8

Some girls prepared three songs to sing to the Spanish students with a guitar and an ukelele. The songs were: Amarillo, HĂŠroe and Titanium. They had translated all the lyrics into Spanish.

The school invited them to eat in their canteen. 9

Before leaving the school because they had to leave, they were offered some cakes and English tea.

Leaving the school 10

After visiting the school, the students have been in Wallington waiting for the English family to pick us up.

On this issue, I have interviewed Nadia Ramos, a student who was on this trip:  Which classroom did you like the most?

All of them, because the classrooms were big and cosy.  Who was the first person you met in the school? The first person I met there was Nicoletta Placidi, she’s beautiful and nice.

12

 Would you like to study in the school that you have

visited in Fleet? Yes, of course.  Is there any subject in Calthorpe Park school that you don’t take here in our school? Yes: Photography, Cook, Theatre, and other subjects that I don’t remember now.  What do you think about the food they offered you in school? I didn’t like it much, I just liked the macaroni.

13

ď‚— What did you do while waiting for the English

family? We went walking in the streets of Wallington and we were nervous and excited at the same time. ď‚— And the last question, did you enjoy the first day in England? Yes, of course.

The News: Trip to London. 2nd Day

15

THORPE PARK On 28th March 2014, the students of INS Thalassa ( 3rd ESO) were in London. They went to Thorpe Park, a ride park, with their English penpals from Calthorpe Park School. They had a lot of fun.

16

They were excited! First, when they arrived there, they talked with their English penpals and then, they went on the rides. One of them, was really scary because it was very very big, and tall. Also there was another ride called Saw which was very strange and cool, but there was fake blood at the entrance and it was scary.

17

At lunch time, they ate sandwiches and chips. Then they went on more rides. There was one very funny which was about of the end of the world, and there were a lot of cars, fallen planes, destroyed houses...it was a very elaborated attraction.

18

At lunch time, they ate sandwiches and chips. Then they went on more rides. There was one very funny which was about of the end of the world, and there were a lot of cars, fallen planes, destroyed houses...it was a very elaborated attraction. In my opinion the scariest one was one very high. When the people went on this ride, they left looking crazy because of their hair. People said that the ride was very faster.

19

Finally, the students said goodbye to their English penpals and they took a group photo. They said that it was a very nice experience; they met new people and made friends...they had a lot of fun!

20

This is a interview to a Spanish student that went to Thorpe Park, Alba MartĂnez:

21

I: Did you enjoy it? A: Yes I did, all was very funny! I: What was the most funniest attraction you rode? A: The funniest was...the free fall, it was great and I want to repeat! I: The most important is that you met new friends, did you? A: Yes its true and now I know that if I want study in London I can go to my friends house.

22

23

Our experience in London Hello everyone, my name is Alba MartĂnez and I'm going to explain how the teenagers feel when they go to a country with a family who doesn't speak the same language. We went to London in March and we went to different houses with families to learn more english. I think that the teenagers learn more English when they go to a country for a long time than in a class. Me and my friends had a really good experience with our families in London, they were really nice to us, and we learned a lot of new words. In many occasions, it was really funny because you didn't know how to say something in English but finally you found the words and they understood you. We saw a different life in London, and we learned not just English. We learned about how life is. Definitely I understand what my parents say when they say that I have to study really hard English, because it's the future. From my experience I would recommend the teenagers to travel somewhere you can practise English because you will learn a lot of things. 24

The interview Sara Aceña ●

A: How did it go in your trip to London? S: It was fantastic! We met really nice and kind people, and we saw the incredible Big Ben. A: What do you think about the trip? I mean, what did you expected from London, and what did you expected about the family and the language? S:I was a little bit nervous because I had never been to London before and I thought that the people wouldn't be nice to us. We met the students last year, but we didn't know how people from London were like. But definetely they were really kind to us. Our host family was incredible! We stayed in an enormous house, we spoke a lot of English, but the mother of the host family spoke Spanish, so if we didn't know something, she helped us.

A: Would you recommend this trip to someone? S: Definitely, yes. I would recommend this trip because I learned a lot of words that I didn't know. I hope to go London soon because it was an amazing trip and now we have friends in London that we met last year in Montgat, so seeing them again was fantastic! I love London and I recommend this trip to EVERYONE because maybe you will found yourself in London.. Who knows? Bye bye.

Ciutadella Park By Thalia Domingo

The students of second ESO took the train and stopped at Arc de Triomf station. Then they walked to Ciutadella park

Once in the park, they left their school bags and started playing a game similar to the game of the flag. They were divided into two groups and every team had to take four balls and manage to bring them to its field.

When they finished playing, they had a sandwhich and after that they carried out a treasure hunt around the park in pais: they had to go answering questions about the park and the winner was the team who got more correct answers.

ď‚ž

Students of 1 ESO have been to tramvia park in Montgat to take some driving lessons and learn the traffic rules. Tranvia park is a park in Montgat where children can play with their friends on the football court or on the skatepark. The park also has an area for babies.

Thalassa high school went to the theatre On the fourth of February of this year the third course of ESO from the high school Thalassa in Montgat went to Clot (Barcelona) to see a play based on a very famous novel called: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They went by train from Montgat Nord railway station to Clot station where the Clot school is. Clot school is famous because there you can study arts and acting among toher things. The script of the play was good but a lot of people who are not very good at English didn’t understand it very well. Luckily, we have talked about it in class and at the end of the play the actors made a summary of the play, as well. Later, the Thalassa students walked to the famous Sagrada Familia cathedral to carry out an English project. Carlos Reyes said to me that he really enjoyed the day and he wants to go on more outings like this. 54
