ABOUT THIS PROJECT 8
LA TRAMA
This is a community of one, a reminiscence bubble. Not a place of grief or self-pity, but a place of self reflection, empowerment and self-value. A place to remember who I am and where I come from. A place to celebrate the intricacy of seeing the world through two lenses and one heart. This is a private world. I might let you in, I might not ... This project turned out to be a diary of experiences, where I combine what I see in my day-to-day with the things I miss and would like to be close to. Why is nobody else in here? Because sometimes it is god damn hard to share the feeling.

PATTERNS
One of the elements that is highly recognizable in pre columbian art are the patterns. Patterns appear in textiles, pottery, buildings, and in these cultures, are essential for the representation of daily life. For this project, I collected and rescued patterns that belong to larger images, bigger pictures. Patterns are the warp of this world and story. I know where they come from, and I know that people won’t be able to point out to an exact culture, place or time when they see them, but that is why I think they serve as great markers to represent the feeling. To me, along with certain colors, patterns become one of the main elements to create a key or a portal to my world. I see it as a way of combining a piece of my then-world with my now-world.

FINDING YOURSELF BEFORE FINDING COMMUNITY
UN PIE EN DOS MUNDOS I was born and raised in Peru, a country that I love with all my heart. I married an American, and was lucky enough to find one that spoke my language, and helped me learn his. We met in the States. We lived in Peru for a while. He learned to love my country, I learned to love his. I have two countries. I have a foot (heart) in two worlds. They are so different and yet, so similar sometimes... But nobody knows (asks) what is going on where I am from, and that can be an isolating feeling. I have two countries... I don’t know if I fit totally right in either of them, but I love them both.
