Pre-Race Day and Race Day! GO the DISTANCE for CHARITY PRE-RACE DAY, May 23 Race Check-In & Packet Pickup We recommend attending Race Check-In and BIB pick up on May 23 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Atkinson Senior Center, 109 West State Street ON RACE DAY, May 24 (Strollers & baby joggers allowed in 5K & 2.5 Mile Walk & will start at the back of the pack.) Timeline 6:00 am – 7:00 am – Race Check-In & BIB pick up – Atkinson Senior Center, 109 West State Street 6:00 am – 7:00 am – Only 2.5 Mile Walkers can register day of the race. 7:25 am – National Anthem 7:30 am – Half Marathon start – will head south 7:35 am – 5K Run start – will head north 7:40 am – 2.5 Mile Walk start – will head north 7:30 am – Noon Free breakfast for athletes and a free will donation for their guests – Knights of Columbus Hall located one block west and ½ block south of the finish line. AWARDS After the last half marathon runner crosses the finish line (approximately 10:30 am) – Awards ceremony at the finish line. Please visit our businesses while you are in town! Where should I park? On residential streets only. This is a small town and is not far to walk most places. DO NOT park in front of businesses!

When and where is the race start? The race will start and finish at the intersection of Main Street and State Street (102 North Main). We recommend arriving about an hour early to give you enough time to park, check-in and prepare for the race. (Port-a-Potties are near the start line).

Where is race Check-in and BIB pick up? Atkinson Senior Center, 109 W. State St. - May 23 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm or May 24 6:00 am – 7:00 am.

Is the course USA Track and Field Certified? Yes, the half marathon course is!

Where should I line up to get ready for the start?

Is there registration on race day? Only for the 2.5 Mile Walkers from 6:00 am – 7:00 am. Anyone still in line at 7:00 am will not be able to register.

Half Marathon and Relay runners will line up first at the start line facing south. No walkers allowed for the half marathon. The second runner of the relay team will be transported to the exchange which is at 6.5 miles. Meet in front of the Atkinson Senior Center at 7:15 am to load the van.

Can someone else pick up my bib? No

5K Runners should line up AFTER the half marathon runners have all crossed the starting line facing north.

How many aid stations will there be on the course? There will be six aid stations for the half marathon course. See enclosed map for aid station locations. Water and Gatorade will be available at all Aid Stations.

2.5 Mile Walkers should line up AFTER the 5K runners have all crossed the starting line facing north.

5K and 2.5M Walk: Water and Gatorade will be at the finish line Aid Station.

Does this event benefit a charity? Yes, this event is a charity benefit for the West Holt Medical Services Foundation. All net proceeds will benefit the Dolores Batenhorst Keating Memorial Scholarship Fund. More information about Dolores and the fund can be found at the charity’s website www.westholtmed.org on the Foundation’s section of the website.

Where are bathrooms? There will be 1 porta-potty at the 6.5 mile water station and 3 at the start and finish line. See enclosed map for locations.

Will there be gear check? Yes, gear check is available at the Atkinson Senior Center, 109 West State Street. This is located at Race Check-In. An official plastic bag will be provided by a Gear Check volunteer that has your bib number written on the bag. You will need to present your bib in order to retrieve your gear. Official bags are available at Gear Check station. Is the course iPod friendly? Yes, you are more than welcome to wear an iPod or MP3 player.

Are there any special themes for this race where participants should dress up? We don’t have a certain theme, but costumes and fun themes are welcome!!

Will there be a pace team? No. If you would like one for next year, please let race officials know. There will be a lead motorcycle for the half marathon.

Is there any special merchandise for sale? If you purchased a t-shirt through the registration process, you will be given your t-shirt when you check in. Is there pre-race water available? Yes, located at the water station south of the start line. There is water bottles or cups of water. Are there directional signs on the course? There are yard signs indicating the directions for each course. There are mile marker signs. There are signs indicating a water station is ahead. All signs are located on the right hand side of the roadway.

Will there be first aid available on the course? There will be EMTs from the Atkinson Rescue Department providing mobile first aid stations. There will be one stationary first aid station at the water station located at the finish line. Each water station has the ability to call for a mobile first aid unit. Mobile first aid units will be driving the course throughout the race to monitor participants. Will the course close at a certain time? Yes, the course will close at noon. All athletes must cross the finish line by noon to be recorded as an official finisher. The course will be reopened to traffic at noon.

Will this event be timed? Yes, Red Dirt Running will time the half marathon, relay and 5K event with disposable timing chips that are attached to the bib. Do all participants receive a medal? Only participants in the half marathon, relay and 5K. Are there any options for showers after the race? Yes, showers are available for participants at the Atkinson Municipal Pool located at highway 20 and Main Street. The doors will be open at 9:00 am. Pool staff will NOT be there.

Do I need to wear my race bib? Yes, all participants (except 2.5M Walk). Place clearly visible on the front of the torso, do not fold or wrinkle, pinned in all four corners and do not cover with jackets, etc. Runners without the proper bib will be asked to exit the course. Please keep your bib after the race for admittance to other events. What if it rains? Races will be held rain or shine. Severe weather (lightning or tornado warning) may cause race to be cancelled or delayed. Sweep vehicles and aid station volunteers will notify runners/walkers on the course if the race is cancelled or delayed.

Will there be an award ceremony after the race? Yes, the award ceremony will be held at the finish line after the last half marathon runner crosses the finish line. Awards will be given for the top three in each age group:

Will muscle relief be available for runners? Physical Therapists from West Holt Therapy Services will be providing complimentary muscle relief near the finish line for half marathon and relay participants only. 8:30 am - Noon Must present your bib for entry.

Cost for breakfast for guests of athlete is a free will donation. Athletes must present their bib for free breakfast except for the 2.5 Mile Walkers. See enclosed map for location.
