WELCOME
Welcome to the Lent Term Monkton Community events programme 2025
We’re thrilled to dive into another busy term packed with exciting events for the entire Monkton community to enjoy.
One of the highlights is our annual Burns Night Supper and Ceilidh, a much-loved tradition among parents and staff. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect at the start of the year, with our talented pupil band providing the lively atmosphere. As always, kilts are optional but wholeheartedly encouraged!
This term also brings Monkton’s inaugural Wellbeing Week. Spanning several days, it will feature a range of activities and talks to help pupils reflect on their wellbeing and foster positive mental health across the curriculum. This initiative complements our ever-popular Wild Monkton and Field Days, where both Prep and Senior School pupils engage in outdoor learning and activities beyond the classroom.
We’re delighted to host some exceptional guest speakers this term for the inspiring Monkton Lectures. Meanwhile, Year 12 pupils will focus on developing leadership skills through this year’s Monkton Leadership Award.
Our Chaplaincy team has a busy schedule as well, planning their annual ‘Big Escape’ weekend. They’ll also guide us toward Easter with the Prep School Easter Service at Holy Trinity Combe Down.
In sports, as the days grow longer and (hopefully) brighter, our teams will be in action across a variety of disciplines. Hockey and netball take center stage this season, alongside rowing, cross country, and more. With a packed schedule of fixtures and competitions, we look forward to celebrating individual and team successes at regional and national levels.
The Expressive Arts department promises plenty to anticipate. Senior School events include Band Night and the Scholars’ Concert, while Prep School highlights feature House Music and the Year 5 & 6 Play. Pupils will also showcase their talents in workshops and at the Mid Somerset Festival.
This terms events are rich with opportunities for pupils, parents, and alumni to come together, reminding us of the vibrant sense of community that defines Monkton. I look forward to sharing these experiences with you all.

Dr Dominique Thompson, specialist in youth mental health, gives a talk titled ‘Degrees of Sanity: How to leave school successfully’, focussing on preparing for life after school. Parents are welcome to join our pupils for what promises to be a fascinating talk.
