Monroe County Community College Art Collection began with a proposal to make visiting artists regularly available to our students. We were inspired to collect a work from each visiting artist. Over time, the artists who came were so impressed at the quality of the art and the way the work was being displayed they often gave us pieces worth far more than what we paid. The State of Michigan, after viewing our extensive collection, informed us we had by far the largest collection of any college in Michigan outside of Universities with museums. MCCC’s other distinction was its collecting solely from active studio artists. So page through this book and enjoy The Monroe County Community College Art Collection.
