FRIENDSHIP FITNESS & FUN FOR 40 YEARS MONROE COUNTY YMCA 2020 Annual Impact Report
Where Mission Meets Community
Advancing Our Cause Strengthening our community in a time of need As we prepared for 2020, we had exciting plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of opening our doors at our Southeast Y’s facility at 2125 S. Highland Avenue. Of course, COVID-19 had different plans for us. Despite the challenges from the ongoing health pandemic, our community endured, and we were reminded just how strong we can be when we work together.
“The best part is that I have made some of my best friends there. It is a wonderful place.” 2
Our mission is bigger than our building Our YMCAs temporarily closed on March 17, 2020, and cautiously re-opened on June 1, 2020 when the Indiana Stay at Home Order was lifted. Within those 10 weeks, our incredible staff reached out to seniors to ensure they were okay, we held a mask drive, food drives, a virtual 5K, and created more than 75 resource videos to help keep our community active, engaged, and connected. As we reflected on our 40 years of service in Monroe County, we were reminded our longevity comes from our responsibility to our mission. At every turn, we learned more about what it means to step up and lead in challenging times and be there for those who need us most. Even in the middle of the pandemic, our Monroe County Y was still here to help strengthen our community. • We safely held Summer Camp for seven weeks to help parents return to work as organizations slowly started to re-open. • While we all remained socially distant and masked, friends were able to reunite at the Y and catch up in-person. • Group Ex classes slowly started to re-build and began offering classes streamed online. • Donations were raised for our Y for All Scholarship Funds through a virtual Gala. • Our staff showed up to work day after day ensuring our health and safety policies were being followed and adjusted as new information was released.
Thank You! When we started the year, we had a different celebration in mind. We ended the year with hope as our community started the process of recovering from the pandemic and looking toward the future, which is certainly cause for celebration.
Thank you to our members, staff, volunteers, and donors for your continued support!

2020 FINANCIAL REPORT Every year, we work to make our community stronger and our reach more impactful. This work wouldn’t be possible without support from members, community partners, and local businesses who believe in the mission of the YMCA. Our cause and our financial commitments coincide with one another – that’s why we are dedicated to making the right decisions for our organization in order to continue serving our community. While 2020 was certainly a challenging year for us and the entire world, we were able to keep our organization strong and the commitment to our cause even stronger with your support.

2020 DONORS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN The YMCA is always investing in a better us. As a cornerstone in our community, capital support to the YMCA continues to grow and evolve, so there is always a place to become the best version of ourselves. Thank you to those who have invested allowing the Y to provide: • A resource, where people find opportunities to live healthy, exercise, and nurture their spirit, mind, and body. • A safe space, where children are cared for, inspired, and guided. • A welcoming spot, where people help each other, friendships are developed, and everyone has a sense of belonging.
“The YMCA as well as some of the employees there got me through one of the worst moments of my life. They kept me going!”
