THE Y STRENGTHENS US ALL At the Y, we believe everyone deserves the chance to belong and be well, and while that may mean something different to each person, we strive to meet each of them where they are. It's a great time to be a part of the Monroe County YMCA, where strengthening community is our cause. From athletics to academic achievement, healthy bodies to disease prevention, and unlimited fun to countless possibilities, our Y is doing so much more. In 2019, we served hundreds of people in the Monroe County area through programs that nurture the potential of our youth, improve the health and well-being of children and adults, and provide help and hope to our neighbors. Our commitment to strengthen communities across the Monroe County area is stronger than ever. Our members, volunteers, staff, and partners—each person in the Y movement—plays a critical role in our success. We all share a passion for strengthening our community.

REFLECTING ON OUR PAST INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE Since our Southeast Y Branch opened its doors in 1981, the original 50,000 square foot

facility has been home to a thriving Summer Camp, evolving Group Exercise classes, an expanding community, and more. Today, after numerous renovations and expansions, our Southeast Branch has doubled in size and supports over 30,000 member visits per month. We opened our Gymnastics Center in 2012 and our Northwest Y Branch in 2013, and both facilities are beginning to see wear and tear. With such high usage in mature buildings comes the need to repair, replace, and renovate, and we need continued help in caring for our facilities. Your donations can help us achieve several vital projects in the coming year: • Maintain 30 HVAC units across our Southeast, Northwest, and Gymnastics Center facilities • Attend to the exterior of our buildings • Fix aged sections of our Southeast Y roof • Maintain our outdoor shelters at both branches ...and much more!

In 2019, here are some projects we completed:

Purchased new equipment for the Southeast Y Weight Room Prepared for Summer Camp at both facilities Repaved the Southeast Y path to the upper parking lot Purchased and installed dehumidifiers for the Southeast Y gym area to help control the temperature and moisture levels in the facility Constructed the Southeast Y Synrgy Studio Installed 12 security cameras throughout both facilities Installed key fob system on Southeast Y fitness rooms Reworked Southeast Y Racquetball and Total Body Studio HVAC units Built 10 picnic tables Changed HVAC filters at Southeast and Northwest Ys four separate times Built a second-floor office in the Gymnastics Center Hired a landscaping company to assist with Northwest Y weed removal in planting beds Replaced Southeast Y Preschool rooms door locks Replaced Southeast Y Main Hot Tub circulating pump Upgraded lighting to LED in the Southeast Y women's and men's locker rooms Replaced 11 bollard lights for the outdoor Southeast Y path Expanded Southeast Y vestibule Changed the lighting in the Northwest Group Ex room to LED Built three separate walls for Axe Throwing at Northwest Y for Corporate Challenge

2019 DONORS Capital Campaign The YMCA is always investing in a better us. As a cornerstone in our community, capital support to the Y continues to grow and evolve, so there is always a place to become the best version of ourselves. Thank you to those who have invested, allowing the Y to provide: • A resource where people find opportunities to live healthy, exercise, and nurture their spirit, mind, and body. • A safe space where children are cared for, inspired, and guided. • A welcoming spot where people help each other, friendships are developed, and everyone has a sense of belonging.

dedicated to providing memberships and sending children to Preschool and Summer Camp at both branches.

When you give to the Endowment Fund, your support continues to impact lives long after your gift is made. The Endowment Fund provides the YMCA with investment earnings that help us meet crucial needs in our community. The general fund’s earnings have been designated to support initiatives that can impact areas of health and wellness, specifically acute and chronic disease prevention. Funded by the YMCA Endowment Fund, Energize is an in-school program that incorporates sessions on health and wellness in 32 MCCSC fourth grade classrooms in 12 MCCSC elementary schools. The program aims to prevent childhood obesity by providing lessons on healthy eating choices and the importance of 60 minutes of exercise per day. Energize collaborates with IU School of Public Health, IU Community Health, Bloomington Parks and Recreation, and Active Living Coalition.

Y FOR ALL ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Y for All is our annual fundraising campaign, which ensures the Y’s facilities and services remain accessible to everyone in our community by providing financial assistance to those who could otherwise not afford the cost of Y memberships and/or programs. The money we raise through the campaign goes to a number of different areas, all aimed at strengthening the foundations of our community. Thank you to all the individuals, businesses, members, staff, and volunteers who donate time and dollars to help make sure everyone has a place to belong at the Y.

CHAIRMAN’S ROUND TABLE Companies, individuals, and families become members of the Chairman’s Round Table with an annual gift of $1,000 or more to the Y for All Campaign. Chairman’s Round Table members have special recognition in the YMCA facilities and other materials signifying their commitment to health and wellness in our community. If you are interested in becoming a Chairman’s Round Table member, please contact Matt Osgood at mosgood@monroecountyymca.org or 812-961-2169.

“I have enjoyed a reduced membership rate [through the Financial Assistance program] at the Southeast Y for the past two years. The Y membership allowed me to get my health back. I cannot overstate how big a blessing it was in my life. Everything about the Y experience made me feel like I was part of a community. After two years of craziness in life, I just purchased my first full-price membership! And tonight I made my first donation to the Y for All campaign. I have waited these two years for the day to come when I could start to pay it forward. I so appreciate your generosity to me when I was down on my luck. Now that things have turned around, it’s my pleasure to be part of the community and extend a helping hand to others. Thank you so much for the program you run, it made such a difference in my life!” – Anonymous 12
