out know, we‘ve had it all sorted out already - we originally wanted to pay tribute to the japanese porn industry with the new issue and call it „THE ISSUE“. But you know what they say about best-laid plans... some PRagency totally messed that up for us by pushing for little kiddies in front of the bans... yeah, well, and the part of the MONSUN staff that still has something vaguely resembling a moral high ground left, had a little

oestrogen fit and wants Tom‘s babies. THOSE EXACT FOUR to be frank. Wearing those little „Tokyo Hotel“ shirts (that‘s what our issue is called now in case you were wondering). The part of the staff that has never had any moral high ground anyway has - of course - hidden little, dirty details and hints all through the issue nevertheless. ;D Like you can see on our cover, the Tokio Hotel Asian-Invasion has obviously started and the rest of the

world can keep learning new stuff on our fantastic Map. Or did you know exactly, where Kuala Lumpur is? Yeah, us neither. And one more little thing - the first of you to decipher the red Kanji in this editorial will be winning A BRAND-NEW AUTOGRAPH-CARD, HAND-SIGNED BY THE BAND! This is NOT A JOKE. Email us at: monsunredaktion@gmail.com and have fun with this issue! ;D

Those have made space in their busy time-table just for the band because nothing is more important than their greatest fans. The editors would like to thank the Puppenjungs in the name of Tokio Hotel for this unforgettable experience! :D http://puppenjungs.livejournal.com

on top who tried to prevent it from toppling over – entertaining to say the least! ON THE EVE OF THE CONCERT SOME ICE HOCKEY HAD TAKEN PLACE INSIDE THE CZECK VENUE – AND IN CONTRARY TO THE COLORLINE ARENA OF HAMBURG YOU DEFINITELY NOTICED IT THE DAY AFTER. The ground was isolated really poorly and in overall it was just bitterly cold. Even the musicians in their stage customes, that usually make them suffer from heat and sweat, were to face those icy circumstances. It was that cold that you could see the boys‘ breath! „It’s fucking cold“ – When Bill’s right, he‘s absolutely right. But the singer was not the only one suffering. Tom’s fingers looked very stiff – especially while playing the piano – and you could compare them just too well to Georg’s stony face. ;D

STARSHINE

STARSHINE, AUSTRIA Queuing in winterly Prague was one of the worst organised events I’ve ever attended. The venue security was out of their depths when it came to handling fans in general and setting up security gates in particular. But not only the interaction with the fans was rather chaotic: It was not before 11:30 a.m. when finally the unloading of trucks began. To our utmost enjoyment it took place right at the main entrance, so us fans could watch the fractions of the stage getting unloaded and rolled into the venue right while lining up. Probably due to lack of time, helps got recruited: boys dressed in red tees who were rather observing than sailing in. Then again I felt really sorry for the tiny fork-lift piler. It had to lift way too heavy components for its small self while not having much air in the tires but 4 construction workers

To our utter surprise and delight the Prague-gig featured the german setlist. Due to the cancellation of three concerts there was no balance of 16:16 but the german one was having a slight lead with 15 showings over the english set that was played 14 times. In general I think it’s fantastic that they performed both sets more or less an equal amount of times. But the fact that you don’t know for what version of the concert you have bought tickets for till the very moment Bill starts to sing is a bit annoying and could be avoided easily. The Tesla Arena is a rather small one, which led to us finally getting our „The half Egg“-experience. The „Front of Stage“ area was sold out, but apart from that the concert could have sold better. Astonishingly the amosphere wasn’t dampened by that. Even though the venue was sold badly, Tokio Hotel couldn’t use their whole stage and there were arctic temperatures inside, the twins were in an amazingly good mood like at no other show. With them beaming sincerely, continually waving and blowing kisses, even the last fan heated up underneath the anorak. :) Concerning stage, show and outfits pretty much everything has been said in recent reviews. But not about the make-up. In Prague Bill’s brand new lipstick definitely cought my eyes. I feel a bit weird dedicating a whole paragraph of a concert review to a lipstick, but the look is definitely worth mentioning. Instead of the

actually did get the fans wet more effectively, but also raised some discussion and therefore did not get repeated as far as I know. Only „new“ to my perception – in reality it had been carried out since the beginning of the tour; where had I been looking? – was the final pose of „Dogs unleashed“. Bill presented his choreographic idea with obvious pride and raised his fist for a total of 20 seconds - at „so you think you can dance“ this would have gotten

him good points of performance for sure. ;D This time the „Thank you“-speech seemed particularly sincere and also the other emotional moments were Big Cinema. The above-average mood was almost tangible and definitely contagious. Even the songs, that are usually a bit too corny for my liking – namely „Zoom“ and „In your shadow“, – somehow mangaged to heat up this little ice hell and

SENNYO

But not only look-wise Prague featured something new: At the obligatory water-pouring into the crowd, Tom held and pressed the bottle in a rather questionable way. Which

to make a big impression. Despite the big chaos that started this night, it was all made okay again by the concert’s unbelievable energetic atmosphere. Even though most of those fans, who were not standing in the middle of the crowd, had been wearing their winter jackets, the band managed to make it all forgotten with an incredible performance and grins like a cheshire cat. Thank you!

POPPY, AUSTRIA Only 20 concerts and three different tours... and the time had come, where I finally made it into the first row. Just to say it straight away: I definitely want to be there again! Only now I can understand the addiction, that makes so many people wanting to have it over and over again. No matter what .. even if it means 48 hour camping with snowfall. A short glance at Toms side while running into the venue, one short second time to think and react – too many people. Hagen, here we come. Yesss!! Pole position, 1st row directly in front of Hagen’s mic. The decision was right, even though I was a little bit sad, because Tom, you know <3. And Georg? Hmmm, Georg is cool. And he definitely can rock the stage. But at the concerts of the Humanoid City Tour I had been so far, Georg – with his long hair almost all the time covering his face – didn’t seem like that kind of rockstar, that communi-

cates actively with the audience. We were still happy, that we finally made it into first row. The Italian girl next to me told me to occupy as much space as possible. „What?“, I thought, „why? There is enough space for everyone?!?“ One hour later I knew what she was talking about. Everybody around us tried to push themselves into the first row and the first row was already that packed that the only place to put my arms was over the wave breaker. Next to me there was no space anymore at all. Someone was constantly pulling my hair and the girl behind me had one hand on my hips and the other one grabbed my butt ... if she had been a man, I would have called it sexual harassment. Although the security gave out wa-

ter, more and more girls collapsed –even though the 6000 people venue was only filled by one third at that time, which made me quite sad. I really had wished the boys that the venue would have been sold out, but already the short line in front of the venue showed that only few people seemed to be interested in watching the show. The rest of the time I spend with the attempt to avoid not to collapse myself. No wonder, that I was speechless when I turned around a few minutes before the concert began and saw that the venue was packed. Like two thirds of the people arrived only half an hour before the show. The venue was sold out... we were thrilled. Lights out, heartbeat, the venue screams ... suddenly he is right in

Which we actually let him know by lots of real loud „Geeooorrrgg!“yelling. We were so in love that we even wanted to give him our bras as a present (which actually turned out to be good for Tom in the end, hehe), but thanks to the stupid height of the stage Georg did not get our presents, which instead flew into the pit between stage and audience. The atmosphere was fantastic, the Italians – as usual – knew every sin-

gle word. They could even sing all lyrics to „Screaming“. Which I still can’t, even after seven concerts. Bill loved the atmosphere in the venue. After a while he also came toward us and my heart stood still. He was right in front of us, but I COULD NOT SEE HIM, not even a little bit!!!! The spotlights came right into my face and the only thing I saw instead of Bill was a huge light ball. It remained that way, the drama continued. Every time Bill was in front of us, he was already sucked up by the light ball. And that of course has to happen when I finally make it into first row. What a tragedy!

But due to the fantastic atmosphere of the venue, the first row experience and guitar god and flirt master Hagen Padova is still my favourite concert of the Humanoid City Tour. Thank you very much, it has been a pleasure!

THE NIGHT BEFORE... Since it was our home concert, the Official Austrian Fanclub spared neither efforts nor costs to make the Vienna concert for all participants as special as possible... of course that included a Warm-up-Party, because if there is one thing Austrians are known for, it‘s that we love to party... and to eat... and to get drunk. *ahem*

male fans, a fact that especially our personal waiter seemed to like a lot. Seeing the crowd of fangirls caused him a serious case of blue balls and distracted him that much, that he continuously wasn’t able to deliver our orders correctly. At least he managed to do the flirting fairly well. ;D As it should be on a Tokio Hotel Party, there was a huge amount of prizes to win ... although our Lady Luck Onerva still has to pratice drawing numbers a little bit. Finally the Romanian fans were the lucky winners and could take the main prize home (or in front of the venue), which Ziggy approved of like nobody else, because she was the one who had to carry what felt

like 100 prices, from her home to the party location ALL ON HER OWN and felt like Santa Girl! As usual in Tokio-Lala-Land, the party was suddenly over, when chaos in front of the venue started and most people at the party immediately had to rush to the venue to still get an adequate place in the queue... madness as usual but see you next time because we‘re definitely gonna get another party started! ;)

What started years ago with the first play of Übers Ende der Welt on an iPod half a world away culminated in an amazing week with, first the Austrian fanclub party, and then the concert. THE JOURNEY WAS NOT WITHOUT DRAMA (WHAT IS IN THIS FANDOM?). I was first supposed to see the band in Dortmund 2008, but after finally getting to see them in Vienna 2010, I can say it was worth the wait. A week off work to visit friends and see a band I love, what could be better? The build up to the concert was intense and, naturally, the initial anxieties began to creep in quickly. What would I wear? To earplug or not to earplug? How would I position myself for maximum Tom exposure? Obviously, this question is closely linked to the clothing dilemma! Not to mention the ongoing struggle with confidence in German speaking aloud to anyone who could

nue it was time for a well deserved beer and some merchandise shopping. With tour badge and yellow wrist band in hand, we entered the arena.

I mentioned earlier my rigorous regime, now, combine that with the ever present threat of concert cancellation and by April 30, things were at a fever pitch! Luckily, with a fanparty to attend, some more delicious cake, a little shopping and some site seeing I managed to keep myself adequately distracted. Soon enough, however, 5pm concert day rolled around. No Tokio Hotel concert experience would be complete without spending a little time in the line and I can now safely say I survived (not without more than a little help from

I thought I’d keep it together. I figured I would behave at a Tokio Hotel concert the same way I do at other gigs: excited, probably dance a little, but otherwise relatively calm. I was wrong. The minute the lights dimmed just after 8pm, and the opening notes of Komm rang out, I was suddenly screaming like a horror movie starlette and I think I danced and jumped around more at that concert than I have on any dance floor. My memory of the actual show is blurred. I recall the alien fanaction, some choice twin moments, and of course, Gustav’s bow but I couldn’t tell you what order they played the songs in, or what my favourite moment was,

The final thing I wasn’t prepared for is the friendships I’ve made through this band and, even more, this concert. Girls who have done this a thousand times welcomed me into the fold and made me feel more at home than I could have imagined. I still don’t think I’ve come to terms with the bizarrely life like 3D concert I witnessed that night— I have no other way to express what it felt like to see the boys who, until now, have lived only on screen and in stereo for me. ONERVA, AUSTRIA Very likely that Zurich began for our boys with a ravaged tour bus and a tremendous hangover. Nothing else than an excessive bus party could explain, why the mister G’s showed up at the Meet & Greet wearing the same stuff they did the day before in Vienna. (And yes, we do know that both of them look the same all the time, but this time it was really EXACTLY the same!!) Yes, it is funny to take some random M&G photos and cpy-pasting the boys out of picture A and sticking them into picture B without someone spotting any difference. It didn‘t take us long to get into the venue, and we managed to get very close to the stage, perhaps 3 or 4 people deep on Georg‘s side. I was so excited to be so close! THE WAIT INSIDE THE VENUE WAS TORTURE. I wasn‘t that impressed with the dj or the opening band, but I think that was because i was just so anxious for Tokio Hotel to take the stage. Once the house lights went down, the music started and the black curtain dropped revealing the enormous egg, I was in heaven. The show began and Bill‘s voice sounded so incredible and so strong! Menschen suchen Menschen, Dogs Unleashed and Automatisch were energetic and heart-stopping. Lass Uns Laufen and Geisterfahrer were totally emotional. And it being my first Tokio Hotel concert, I was so excited to hear songs from their older albums as I thought maybe I‘d missed my chance. Hearing them play Ich brech aus, Übers Ende der Welt, and Durch den Monsun were like the cherries on top of an already delicious sundae! HANNAH, UK As I arrived in Bercy, tired from a day of travelling, I had no idea that the best night of my life was to come the following day. My names Hannah Williams and I’m just your average girl from Blackpool, England. The day Tokio Hotel tour dates were released for ‘Welcome to Humanoid City’ tour, my heart broke. They weren’t coming to England AGAIN. I broke down into tears. And took action: travelling abroad to see them was my only option and I had to see them. Tokio Hotel in Paris 14/4/2010 – I think it’s safe to say it was the best night of my life. BEING A UK-ER, IT WAS MY FIRST TOKIO HOTEL CONCERT. A lot of people probably know that Tokio Hotel are practically non-existent in the UK. So it’s safe to say I was the most excited I’ve ever been before in my life. The night before the concert, a mass of girls were camping outside the arena – real dedication! It was incredible to see so many other Tokio Hotel fans as we’re lacking in the UK. I slept about 4 hours that night and spent a lot of it texting fellow UKer and street teamer Steph, who was also at the All Seasons Hotel.

up with) waited outside the seating entrance from the arena from about 5pm for the doors to open. There were so many nationalities there! We saw German, UK, Belgian, Swedish, Dutch and Norwegian flags! Some Swedish girls even ran past us and shouted „Sweden says hello!“. Equipped with flags and UK coloured ribbons in my hair, it drew attention to other UKer’s who came and joined us, who were also on the street team!

Me, Chantelle and Natasha (more girls from Tokio Hotel UK Street Team) had our photos taken with her and she was so sweet. 6:30pm and the doors opened. A surge of people rushed in to get to the merchandise stalls! It was packed and I queued for 45 minutes to buy my merchandise. I started crying. I was so overwhelmed that after 3 years of waiting, this was finally happening. It honestly felt like a dream.

As we were waiting there was suddenly lot’s of waving and cheering, we turned around, confused, to see a look-alike of Bill walking around the arena. Yvi. For those of you that don’t know her, she’s a German girl who impersonates Bill. She has a twin who impersonates Tom too, Rina, but she wasn’t there. Believe me, she was awesome!

Finally it came to the night of the concert. I was excited as hell. I’d spent all day sight-seeing in Paris, screaming every time I saw a car with blacked out windows, wondering if it was TH-related. Sad, I know. Me, my mum and Denise (another girl from the street team who we met

We all know our main goal in life is to recruit new fans for the band, and every time we get hold of an newbie - whether at a concert or on the internet - we ask the shit out of them on how and why they ended up as a Tokio Hotel Fan NOW of all times. So far, so good. Yet is still happens more and more that after a short moment of newly found friendship, old and new fans crash together like titans. After all, one side can‘t accept the changes Tokio Hotel are going through, while the other side doesn‘t know shit anyway since they haven‘t been around for long. Technically, „Old Fans“ are having problems with the newbies:

1. cuz they‘re all old women aged 35+, 2. cuz they are insufferable know-it-alls, 3. cuz they don‘t understand the „Grützel-Spirit“ like camping, 4. cuz they judge other, older fans, although they have no idea what we all went through with the band in the last years, 5. cuz they enjoy the english songs, 6. cuz they believe Bill is heterosexual, 7. cuz they wanna fuck him although the thought alone is revolting because they are 8. old and wrinkly and 9. not a gay man, 10. cuz they spam the whole fandom with their unqualified opinions, 11. also post dumb comments to every single online article so that everybody knows TH are TEH BEST BAND EVAA!!11!! (I quote the nonsense: „Klaus Meine (Scorpions) can‘t sind, but Bill can!“) 12. cuz they can‘t accept critical views on the band, 13. cuz they hate Bu and Billshido, 14. cuz Bill is mine alone anway and all the others should just piss off already because he only belongs to MEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Chiriy Ziggy would like to take this opportunity to hand over the award for the worst fan ever to Chiriy *coughs*

LET‘S GET READY TO RUUUUMBLE!! WHAT WE WANNA KNOW NOW IS HOW DO THE NEWSBIES SEE THE WHOLE ISSUE??

„The only difference between me and those fans who have been with the band from the beginning is their attitude towards them. I met a lot of people online who are willing to give everything to see them live as often as possible, including spening all their money to travel after them to every concert and performance. I‘m more chilled out when it comes to that and have no problem with missing a concert when it‘s too expensive for me to go there. I believe the resaon for that is rather simple: I missed the first few years of the band‘s history and therfore don‘t have that many memories attached to them as a lot of other fans.“ - Ann-Katrin

„I basically had to catch up on 5 years of Tokio Hotel in less than 6 months now, and it was both fascinating and amusing to me to get to know so many different aspects of the band in such a short time. Most important for me is to be able to talk with fans who aren‘t complaining 24/7 about how much better everything used to be in the early days and everything they dislike now.“ -Galadriel

„I spent an intense amount of time searching for old footage, because I am very interested to see everything I have missed. For example I started with watching all the TH-TV episodes, many older interviews, but of course also always had a look on the new stuff. A combination of both was what really made me fall for the boys. Everything got me excited and more and more facinated by the minute. I really enjoy every new material we get to see, but I also love to take a look at the past to see how time has changed both the band and their music. In retrospect I wish I would have experience it all myself because people keep telling me how special those older times were and what fond memories they havve, and I can only ask myself where the fuck I have been?! Sometimes I feel inexpierienced, naive even, when I feel that I missed out on something. Which makes it even more interesting for me when other fans share their experiences from the past. But I like both sides - learing from the old fans and making own experiences with other new ones. - Lara

I‘m trying as good as I can to go through the forum archive to read back on everything I missed and I wish I had already known the band 5 years ago because from what people say, a lot of things used to be easier then, like e.g. talking a bit to the boys... - Moccakatze

„What really turned me into a fangirl was the RTL documentary „100% Tokio Hotel“ because the band really won me over and impressed me. Ever since then, they have my absolute respect! So i went on the net to check out their homepage, youtube-videos and yep, I bought all DVDs as well. I thought it was really interesting to see how much energy and discipline went into the project „Tokio Hotel“. When there‘s discussions about the old times, I usually don‘t talk much because i wasn‘t around for those times. I don‘t think that‘s so bad though.“ - Cailin1977

OKIO HOTEL FANDOM IS SERIOUS FUCKING BUSINESS The Veekly Vlog is a project created by Brii and Felicity, the heads of the Official Fanclubs of New Zealand and Australia. Over the last few months, they had noticed an increasing number of people commenting about how much they missed THTV, and the concept doing a weekly vlog grew out of that. Given that Tokio Hotel fans are traditionally European, the two girls thought their accents and weird sense of humour would give the viewers an interesting spin on TH news. Even though Felicity and Brii live in two different countries and time-zones, they manage to record the vlog together and also wanted fans to feel like this was world wide, not just for those Down Under. ;) Starting the vlog with the most talked about or „important“ news stories of the week gives them the opportunity to not only give their own opinion, but also reflect on how people within fandom have been reacting. Each week, the vlog covers fan material such as favourite videos, takes a look at some of the fashion highlights or disasters, fandom follies, and takes a look at some of the upcoming events Tokio Hotel have planned. While the vlog viewers are definitely the more active fans of this fandom, Brii and Felicity do hope though that in the future, more and more fans will discover the vlog and use it as a way to keep connected with both the band and other fans. Given that the vlog is a fairly new project, the girls are very eager to hear from fans - they‘d love to see fanmail or letters to read, manips, art or videos - everyone can be a part of the vlog! Most of all, because they are fans themselves, they want to work WITH the Tokio Hotel fans, so don‘t hesitate and contact them if you have something to share!

FLOSSA, AUSTRALIA We started our trip bright and early at 4:30am, driving from Brisbane down to the Gold Coast to catch our 8am flight to KL. After being thoroughly reamed by customs and security for my makeup kit (I took more makeup than clothes JSYK XD), we were on our way! The 8 hour flight, though long, was punctuated by random TH quips and quibbles, fics and scribbles... we even found Humanoid on offer during the inflight entertainment! Upon landing in KL, we stepped onto the tarmac and immediately started sweating.

SEITE 43

Malaysia is HOT. REALLY WEALLY humidly hot. AMIRA AND I BOTH STARTED GIGGLING AT THE PROSPECT OF BILL TRYING TO STAY MATTE AND UN-SHINY IN THE HEAT THE SECOND WE FELT THE HOT MALAYSIAN SUN. It took us an hour to get through customs, but once we were on our way, we had the greatest luck to hear not only Automatic and World Behind my Wall for the first time on radio (for us), but we got to listen to an interview with them AND were the first to hear DSOTS as the new single! Amira and I clutched hands and sung along in the backseat while our poor driver kept glancing at us thinking “Who are these two Australian weirdos!” Since it was still early and a lot of our friends were due into KL later in the night, we decided to head over to the OneUtama center and have a poke around. We even heard NOISE during the soundcheck! After our long day of flying and lack of sleep, we had a cat-nap before the heads of the THSingaporeST Aini and Elni arrived and we went up to their room to talk about the next day’s plans. Saturday was a HUGE day! We decided to get to the signing early so we gulped down breakfast at the hotel and arrived at the signing area at around 8am. There were a lot of fans there already, and a few people recognised us, so we hung around in line with them – after a

bit of confusion with the lining up, we were herded into rows of four by security and told to wait. The security was very tight but well organised, and there was plenty for fans to do in the meantime, such as taking their copies of Humanoid to win the chance of a meet and greet – one group of girls had whole BAGS of cds they’d bought just to win. The line was huge and enthusiastic, singing along loudly to the Tokio Hotel songs playing over the loudspeaker. By this stage, Amira and I were wearing our Tokio Hotel’d Australian flags so we danced around and talked to people! Just before the signing was about to begin, the MC Natalie fell into the hole on the stage and needed to be taken off and given stitches. The signing continued, however, and finally the boys came out to thousands of excited fans screaming! Amira and I were jumping up and down and

waving our flags to the boys, which was GREAT because Bill stopped and turned to us, then gave the hugest grin and waved! The boys were so relaxed and happy - all four of them were so genuinely surprised to see the crowd gathered for them. The signing itself was fairly rushed, with no photography allowed – security was very very tight, and since the boys were only there for an hour, they tried to get through as many people as possible. I did get to tell the twins they better be coming to Australia soon (while wagging my finger like a mother), and Amira told Tom she liked his watch. We feel like complete nerds now, but at the time it was appropriate. Bill also stabbed my CD while he was signing it, so now I have two dints on the cover of my German Humanoid deluxe edition. I guess that makes it special? ;)

came onto stage, the cheers of the 5000 strong crowd grew louder. We could hear Bill singing, but it wasn‘t until he came onstage that the crowd went ballistic! INTENSE. So many people lining up in the sweltering heat – we left to go down at about 5:30pm and by that point people in the front of the lineup were fainting. A lot of the more intense TH fans had gone straight from the signing at 11am to lineup outside in the sun for the concert. The line itself, by the time we got there snaked around the venue, with a whole variety of ages, sexes and nationalities. It was amazing to see so many fanboys and fanmen proudly wearing TH merch and holding signs. Some of the fans had done really creative things, like “99 red balloons” or

www.monsunmagazin.com

On the whole, the concert setup was good – the two local acts Bunkface and Pop Shuvit were exciting and got the crowd moving, even to the point of creating circle-moshpits beside where we were standing. In between there was a DJ who annoyingly kept playing Lady Gaga. Then, finally, the boys. THE LIGHTS WENT DOWN, AND THE QUIET STRAINS OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC STARTED TO PLAY AS THE STAGE WAS SUDDENLY BATHED IN BLUE. The crowd ROARED as they heard “TOKIO HOTEL – HUMANOID” and as the opening strains of NOISE started to play, and Tom, Gustav and Georg

Pain of love was next, which was surprisingly re-pitched WAY down to the point where it took a few moments for me to recognise the song. Bill left the stage and the lights went out, with Bill‘s voice over introducing World Behind my Wall. As the second single, the audience was so loud it was almost hard to hear Bill over the crowd of enthusiastic singing fans! Hey You got the crowd clapping along, and Ready, Set, Go! was a surprising addition to an already brilliant setlist! The boys left the stage, and the I heard the growl of a motorbike and SQUEALED because I knew my favorite song was about to be played! We weren‘t disappointed! Dogs Unleashed was even better loud than I‘d ever imagined and I squealed LOUDLY as I heard the motorcycle SFX go off. I realise it lost some of the effect by not having the full Humanoid City tour stage, but they were so polished it worked. The eleven song set went very very quickly, though the biggest highlight for all of us long term fans HAD

QUINBY YAN, MALAYSIEN What a day to look forward to! - considering that most TH fans here slept at 4.30AM and woke up at 6.30AM (or was that just me?) Anyway, I got to the concert area (1 Utama) at around 7.00 or so. Everything was bright but there were only a few people in sight. The ‚smallish‘ stage was already up, complete with the orange „TM CONNECTS WITH TOKIO HOTEL“ backdrop. Only about 5 or 6 fans were there, just loitering around. I had my two best friends, an Indonesian and younger sister with me. At 10.45AM, there was a signing session which lasted for only an hour. I got both Humanoid CD‘s signed, managed to flash my drawing at Tom (which I was to give him later) and smile at Bill. Pretty good so far despite the fact that I got stampeded and was bleeding through my sock.

Immediately after that, my friend, my younger sister and I ran to the concert place. We plonked our butts onto the hot gravel and waited for the next 9 or so hours. The sun was shining exceptionally hard that day and we could practically burn an egg on the ground. But we stayed there anyway, making friends with the Singaporean fans, French fans, Thailand fans and of course, local fans. Anything to get the front row, right? Around 5PM or so (an hour before the barriers would open), someone suddenly stood up which caused an instant domino effect: everyone else stood up and started pushing. I had 3 drawings with me and was fearing more for them than for my own safety. It was badly planned, the ticketing and all that. After a moment, I heard they just let the barriers open like that and a tsunami of fans just washed over the concert area. I managed to get the second row. But it was awful being there, truth be told. Everyone in the front row was tall and I...wasn‘t.

UNIVERSAL MALAYSIA

THE LOCAL ACTS CAME UP AND PERFORMED FOR SUCH A LONG TIME. Until the final DJ act. Apparently

there was a delay in preparing the instruments. And to make matters worse, the crowd control was bad and everyone pushed and shoved and screamed. It was awful being there. However, when the first rifts of Noise came up, everything was forgotten and all fans just devoted our hearts and

voices to the band. We screamed when the „TOKIO HOTEL HUMANOID“ robot voice spoke up, we screamed when Tom‘s guitar was heard, we screamed at the hot bodyguard (well, I did), but most of all, the audience just exploded at the sight of the band coming up on stage. But nothing could beat the thrill that just rushed through the crowd during Tom‘s solo. It‘s different hearing it from YouTube and seeing it live. There was also one point where I had the help of the fans in the front row to carry one of my drawings for Gustav. They were so helpful that when I lifted it into the air, they screamed „Gustav! Gustav!“ and pointed at it. I didn‘t know if he did see it or not. But it was amazing anyway. However, everything must come to an end. The band went off the stage, we screamed „Encore“, they came back on with a beautiful „Forever Now“ and went back again,

we screamed „Encore“ again, and they played „Durch Den Monsun“. Of course the older fans sang in German but it was nice to see the newer fans concentrate singing in English. What a beautiful mesh!

QUINBY YAN

Despite wasting our money on fanactions, of which none worked out by the way, being blocked by tall people, getting pushed and shoved and stampeded, the whole concert was just an amazing experience. Nothing could‘ve topped that. Ever. Obviously, until the next concert.

MICHELLE, PHILIPPINEN March 18, 2010. I stumbled upon an article from Malaysia Star that says: „Tokio Hotel to Rock Malaysia“ It mentioned the venue, but there were no details on how to get the ticket. I posted it at the forum boards of Tokio Hotel Philipinas for confirmation. After about a couple of weeks, a post was made: „This event has been confirmed from Universal Music Philippines. They are going to be in Asia. Those who are willing to get themselves there, and I mean to really go, send me a PM immediately.“ As fast as my fingers could type, I sent out a PM to our head honcho, Charm. passes would be taken care of by the Fan Club, I would get to see the band and all I needed to do was to sit on the four-hour plane ride to get there. Hallelujah! The days flew by so fast after that. Who would have thought that my day would start early? I got to the hotel around 0130H of May 1, 2010 and sleep does not visit me because of too much excitement. I was up at 0630 but forced myself an hour‘s worth of nap to get ready for the day. At around half past eight, I started looking for the venue. In my wandering, I found a McDonald‘s branch that opens before the mall does.

www.monsunmagazin.com

I had breakfast there. On my way to the venue, I saw the redemption booths being readied as early as 0900H. The signing would be done at the Oval, the activity center of the mall. I was previously planning to go back to the hotel for some rest before the signing at 11.40am, but when I got to the venue, fans have already been lining up and I found out that only about 500 will be allowed to go onstage. I got in line instead of my plan and that was a little before the mall actually opened. The security team wasn‘t forgiving. It was getting late. The line was getting longer and longer. People in line were not allowed to reserve spaces for those who weren‘t there. At around 10.30am, I found Sarah, another fan from the Philippines, and her friends. I started to breathe easy. They made it to the cut off. While there, I started interviewing some of the kiddies I was in line with. Most of them liked Bill, both boys and girls alike. They said he‘s cool and good looking. Most of them also just knew the Humanoid album and were not really that familiar with the German ones. There was this girl who bought a T-Shirt and immediately donned it on her. She did a really loud squee as soon as her head popped out of the other end of the shirt. It was surprising that fans would really run in place like she did, or that I would actually see a European flag being waved by fans from that particular country. It was incredible.

Then, the fans started screaming as Natalie, the DJ from HitzOnly FM, came on stage. The poor girl, however, fell and hurt her leg. She didn‘t notice that there was a hole on stage. They had to bring in med staff and support her as she cleared the area. The Latino-looking guy took over as the host and laid down house rules: (1) No kissing (2) No hugging (3) No cuffing (4) No touching the band members. Then with that, the signing began. Security was strict. One CD per person and no space reservations for somebody else. We were made to take out our CD‘s to implement this. As the queue shortened, my pulse increased, too. I could hear myself screaming but no voice came out. I could feel myself running, but I was in place, unmoved. I could see myself beside my babies, but I was still waiting in line. He glanced at me and put on that shy, signature smile. He lost weight from the last time I saw him in public... in those pictures that they publish. He added his mark on my booklet. I was done. I started to breathe. I glanced back, they‘re being swallowed by the swarm.

THESE FOUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ON WORLD STAGES. They have been known and claimed as public figures. They are being seen as the new conquerors through their music. TOKIO HOTEL. The public knows them. The public watched them grow. The public had, and still is, a part of them. They have touched new lands and will continue on with their journey... A journey that I will always follow. As for my current journey, it starts once more later in the evening. I would get my chance to enjoy their company again... through the songs they‘d be singing right before my very eyes..

MICHELLE

The next person looked so gentle. He had this shy, reserved but friendly smile on his face. He said, „Hello!“ I blurted my hello back. He looks exactly like the first person, only prettier. His face is just too pretty for words. Unexpectedly too pretty that I can‘t help but stare. He looked down into the booklet as he put his mark on it. He held my eyes with his once more when he looked up and gave me that kind of smile as coy as

e‘ve already discussed Georg’s fashion faux pas in our last issue – now it is time for our favourite guitar player. Tom’s wardrobe is a lot more colourful than the one of the other band members. This is actually not a bad thing at all, because black and white alone definitely can be pretty depressing. But if you don’t plan an alternative carrier as a clown or Lady Gaga, you shouldn’t love the paint pot too much, you know... ?

EVER SINCE THE CAPS ARE GONE, IT HAS BECOME A LOT EASIER FOR TOM TO LIMIT HIMSELF TO A FEW COLOURS. MONSUN THINKS, THAT’S AWESOME (BUT WE ARE ALWAYS ECSTATIC TO SEE TOMS EYEBROWS ANYWAY)!

om was especially attentive in geography classes at school – he knows, that the next Ice Age will come eventually. He seems to get a little bit confused, though, when it comes to the exact timeframe. Obviously, he is of the opinion, that the next really, really big and nasty Ice Age will happen very soon, so it‘s no wonder that he diligently gets himself prepared. One Shirt? Pfff, do you want him to freeze to death? – Tom needs two shirts at least and who knows how many more he hides underneath those tents he calls shirts...

2005: JERSEY-TIME! WHO KNOWS WHETHER TOM IS INTO SPORTS OR NOT... BUT HE IS DEFINITELY NOT INTO RUGBY, IS HE? ANYWAYS, SPORT-JERSEYS WERE A MEGA HIT IN 2005. PROBABLY, BECAUSE THEY MAKE YOU LARGER THAN YOU ACTUALLY ARE.

2006: JERSEYS STAY PERSISTENT. ... AND SATIN MAKES YOU LOOK EVEN BIGGER! WHICH MEANS THAT TOM LOOKS ACTUALLY TWICE HIS REAL SIZE. THIS VISUAL ILLUSION SURVIVED UNTIL TODAY AND STILL FASCINATES FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

2008: IT‘S. GETTING. COLD! ONE, TWO T-SHIRTS, A HOODIE, A BANDANA, A CAP AND ALL OF IT INSIDE A ROOM! BUT WHO KNOWS, MAYBE IT WAS JUST VERY, VERY COLD IN UNITED STATES...

Despite all weird fashion moments, Tom has almost kept his style through the years and this alone is enough reason to show him respect. It seems that as Tom’s dreads fell, most of his most awkward dreadfullnesses disappeared from his wardrobe as well (especially the caps), to make room for damn niiiiicccceee jumpers, hoodies and shirts, which actually even match each other. The poor man is still waiting for the Ice Age, though... some things never change!

IS IT TOO HOT? NOOO, YOU KNOW, I AM FINE. THE JUMPER CAME WITH THE GLASSES. IT WAS A FREE GIFT. IT HAS TO BE WORN THAT WAY...

THE

ISSUE

Tokio Hotel are putting their feet down in Asia - they did their first appearances, cashed in their golden records. The hysteria with the fans? Same as back at home. That‘s awesome news, god dammit, and that‘s really something that the press could write about after they‘ve celebrated the semi-sold out tour in Europe. But no, there‘s something more important, and that would be Tom, who got his hands some smarties at the black med-market in Taiwan somehow, took a few too many and whoops, ended up with his flag-pole pointing at twelve o clock for three days. At least that‘s what we‘ve been told and as with everything that we‘re being fed by the media, it might be true but it also might not be true so everyone‘s probably best off judging for themselves. And then the really bizarre thing happened Tom confirms at the Comet, that he did indeed buy and take the little blue pills (oh, LOL). So yeah, on the one hand, the press is right for thei first time in their lives and didn‘t come up with random shit to amuse themselves but me, being the local Miss Doctor and all, I‘m still not buying it. Or at least, I‘m still of the opinion that the whole story is a made-up PR thing... the only way I could be proven to be wrong is if Mr. Kaulitz himself would come into my office to let me tie a little flag onto his flagpole so I can check whether it can ideed survive even the worst storms and doesn‘t keel over during even the slightest blow from the press like the tower of Babel. But hey, don‘t take it all too seriously - if the whole mess was good for something, then it‘s that we got three days of a massive treasure-hunt for Little Mister Tom out of it... I‘ve never inspected that many Tokio Hotel press pictures in my life... and not that throughly either. You know, when there‘s nothing else to do.. The next time you wanna party, Tom, go look for us in the MONSUN-ambulance. ;D
