Tja, was soll man sagen? 2008 war einmal, Tokio Hotel haben für uns gefühlte 5000 Mal in den USA gespielt und dort für sie vermutlich tatsächlich fühlbare 5000 Happy Meals gegessen. Unser Beileid. In Polen und Ungarn schreibt man „Tokyo Hotel“ inzwischen wieder mit einem Üppsilon und meint damit tatsächlich wieder Wohnmöglichkeiten in Japan, wenn man den paar übrig gebliebenen Fans glauben kann. Ziggy hat die Haare schön (und schwarz), Onerva ist wieder mal auf (Schoko-)Diät und nein, Dänemark hat bis jetzt natürlich noch immer kein Konzert bekommen. Alles beim Alten also.

Welches der beiden unsere Top-Priorität ist, das wechselt je nach Situation. Der Hauptgrund dafür ist, dass es in England schwer ist, als Street Team zu arbeiten. Es gibt keine Single/Album-Releases und keine Konzerte oder andere Events, also ist das Street-Team eher obsolet. Also haben sich unsere Prioritäten Ende 2007 verändert - die Bewahrung von schon existenten Fans ist uns wichtiger als die Gewinnung neuer.

We actually flip and change on which one of those is our priority at any given time. The reason for this is we can't actively street team in the UK very well. With no single/album releases, or gigs or events, street teaming is fairly redundant. So our priorities began changing around the time things in the UK began changing (towards the end of 2007) and to us retention of UK fans seemed more important than trying to gain new ones at a time when nothing was happening.

Online ist eher offensichtlich - durch Votings und wir betreiben Onlinewerbung für Events und Veröffentlichungen. Offline sieht es so aus, dass unsere Team-Mitglieder in der Schule, in Shops und auf der Straße - besonders bei Meet-Ups - versuchen, TH zu bewerben. 2) eine stabile englische Fanbase zu kreieren. Das passiert via Treffen und wir versuchen dort ein richtiges Gemeinschaftsgefühl der Fans zu fördern.

the UK Street Team since you've been the first Tokio Hotel promotion-team ever. Please tell our readers a bit about your street team and your activities within the UK. Claire: Well, we've been promoting Tokio Hotel in the UK and online for a year and a half. Since Tokio Hotel haven't made it big in the UK, it seems like we might not be very good at our job, but we do work really hard. We have a dual purpose: 1) to promote Tokio Hotel in the UK and worldwide. We do that on and offline. Online is fairly obvious - voting in polls and promoting events and releases. Offline is local stuff that street teamers get up to in school, at home, in shops and on the streets, particularly at meet-ups. 2) to create a loyal and dedicated Tokio Hotel community in the UK. We do this via meet-up events and actively making a conscious effort to create a community atmosphere.

However, last week at the MTV EMAs in Liverpool we saw an opportunity to promote Tokio Hotel that needed to be taken advantage of. Record label or not, that's what we're here to do, so we were outside the Echo arena on the evening of the 6th and handed out over 1000 TH flyers, 250 TH balloons and around 300 TH lollipops. TH was the buzz. (Before any street teams pout about not having that kind of stuff to give out, we paid for all the promotional items ourselves. We get nothing from TH.)

- Offensichtlich war England zu erobern keine Priorität und der Einsatz war zu gering oder sie waren arrogant genug, zu glauben, dass das wirklich genug war. Ich hab keine Ahnung was es ist, aber verglichen mit der Zeit die sie in Frankreich oder Amerika waren um durchzustarten... yo. Fazit? Jeder, der was mit dem TH Debut in England zu tun hatte, ist Schuld- auch die Band.

- Conquering the UK was obviously not a priority and commitment was low. Or, they were arrogant enough to think that would be enough. I have no idea which it is. But considering the time they spent in France or America to secure those markets…yeah. In conclusion? Wir warten alle auf das neue Album - was sind deine Erwartungen als Fan und als UK Street Team Leader? Ich erwarte, dass es fabulös wird. Und ich erwarte es bald. Wir warten schon ne Weile darauf- sie reden ja ständig davon: 'wir arbeiten daran' ist ja schon seit Monaten in Bills Wortschatz. Es ist klar, dass das neue Album zeigen wird, wo die UK Fanbase auf der TH-Karte liegt. Wenn das neue Album an uns vorbei geht, dann wissen wir mit Sicherheit, dass es keine Pläne gibt, nach England zurück zu kommen. Wenn ich richtig informiert wurde, dann wird's tatsächlich die Zeit sein, auf die wir warten - die Anerkennung der UK als ein Land in Europa und eine Albumveröffentlichung

We're all waiting for the new album - what are your expectations as a fan and as UK Street Team leader? I expect it to be fabulous. And I expect it soon. To be honest, we've been waiting a while for it. They keep talking about it: 'we're in the creative process' has been Bill's stock line for months. It's pretty clear to me that the new album is when we, as a UK fanbase, will learn more about our status on the TH map. If this new album passes us by, we will know for sure that there are no intentions for returning to the UK. If people are telling me the truth, it will actually be the time we're waiting for - an acknowledgement of the UK as a country in Europe and an album release.

Du bist schon seit Anfang an TH Fan - was hat You've been a TH fan from the very first diese Band, was andere nicht haben? TH gehen in die USA und, egal wie man's auslegt, es ist hart, sie immer wieder ziehen zu lassen, weil generell gibt es nicht nur Gigs und Konzerte, sondern Autogrammstunden, Meet & Greets und gratis Open Airs als kleines 'Dankeschön für den Support'. Während TH in der USA sind, wo sind die kleinen Gesten an die Fans in den anderen Ländern? Eine Videonachricht für Russland, ein Gewinnspiel für Israel, ein Chat für Skandinavien, ein Brief an Kanada? Glaubt mir, ich weiß wie lange eine Videonachricht deprimierte Fans bei Laune halten kann. Mal davon abgesehen, NATÜRLICH würd ich's nochmal in England versuchen. TH können nichts langsam machen. Ich würd's langsam angehen mit nem ordentlichen Plan und ihnen dann beim Charts erobern zusehen.

If MONSUN could turn you into David Jost for one day with our super-powers, what would you change in terms of managing the band? Think globally. TH management and Universal seem to only be able to concentrate on one territory at a time. It absolutely screws with the fans. This entire year has been devoted to the US. Stop with the hissing, US fans, it has. What the people in charge fails so epically with is keeping fans in other countries happy when the band is abroad. I happen to think it IS possible to keep most fans happy. Yet, how many European fans can truly say they're happy right now? The band are going back to the US - no matter how you spin it, that's hard to go through again. Because generally it's not just gigs or concerts, it's signings and meet & greets and free open air shows to 'thank the fans for their support'. While TH are in the US, why aren't there more small gestures given to fans in other countries? A video message for Russia, a competition for Israel, a web chat for Scandinavian fans, a letter for Canada? Believe me, I know how long a video message can sustain a depressed fanbase. Aside from that, OF COURSE I would make them try the UK again. They lack any power of doing things slowly. I'd take it a little slower, implement a proper marketing plan and watch them rocket up the charts. 13

Wenn du der Band drei Fragen stellen dürftest, welche wären das? Hmm... ich hatte das Glück, sie letztes Jahr interviewen zu dürfen, deshalb gehen mir langsam die Fragen aus! LOL. Aber eines will ich wissen: Bill, trägst du Socken im Bett?

If you could ask the band three questions, what would that be? Hmm... I was lucky enough to interview them last year, so I'm running out of questions! LOL. But there is one thing I want to know: Bill, do you wear socks in bed?

Wie hat sich dein Leben verändert seit du Tokio Hotel kennst? Ich hab kein Leben außer dem Fandom mehr! Und das ist kein Scherz. Ich hab mir lange sprichwörtlich den Arsch aufgerissen für die Band. Ich liebe sie, deshalb tu ich das auch gerne. Meine Freunde und Familie denken ich bin verrückt, weil die Band nie her kommt und die UK niemals anerkennen! Wahrscheinlich bin ich verrückt. Inzwischen ist der Status der Street Teams ja eigentlich von den Fanclubs ersetzt worden und wir bekommen auch keine Unterstützung so wie sie. Plus, ich hab auch eine Menge über das Musikgeschäft gelernt und darüber, wie inkompetent die Leute in Führungspositionen sein können. Das war ein Schock, aber auf der anderen Seite hat's auch mein Selbstbewusstsein in meiner Arbeit aufgewertet. Ich könnte die meisten Jobs im Business wahrscheinlich ohne ein Augenzwinkern erledigen.

How has your life changed ever since you've encountered Tokio Hotel? I no longer have a social life! I'm not kidding about that either. I have literally worked my ass off for a long time for the band. I love them, so I do it out of love. I've also learned just how much I am willing to do out of love - a lot! My friends and family think I'm crazy because they never come here and never acknowledge the UK at all! I probably am crazy. Especially since these days, Street Teams have been usurped by Fanclubs and we get no standard recognition the way that they do. Plus, I've learned a lot about the music bizz and how incompetent people at the top can be. That was a shock and it has improved my confidence when it comes to work in ways you wouldn't believe. I could do the job of most of the record label without blinking an eye.

Wo glaubst du wird die Band in zehn Jahren sein? Oje. Sie werden sich wahrscheinlich getrennt haben. Sorry, aber als lebenslanger Fan von Boygroups kann ich sagen, dass die keine lange Lebens-erwartung haben. Ich denke, Uni und das Management werden sie bis auf die Knochen verheizen, Bill endet in Reha und die Band trennt sich. Vielleicht machen sie wie Take That in 10 Jahren ein Comeback. Wir können nur hoffen! Wo willst du in zehn Jahren sein? Wird das Street Team die Weltherrschaft an sich gerissen haben? Tja, unsere Weltherrschaft hängt stark von TH ab, insofern müsste man sie fragen. Arbeitstechnisch würd ich mich gerne mehr mit Medien als mit Firmen-Events beschäftigen. Aber es ist mir eigentlich egal so lange ich im Eventmanagement bleiben kann und mehr Kohle dafür kriege!

Where do you think the band will be in ten years? Gosh. They'll probably have split up. Sorry to say it, but as a life long fan of boybands, they don't have a lot of longevity. I foresee Universal and management working them to the bone, exhausting them, Bill in rehab, band splitting up. Perhaps they'll do a Take That and come back in 10 years time. We can only hope! Where do you want to be in ten years? Will the Street Team have achieved World Domination? Well, the ST's world domination relies heavily on Tokio Hotel, so perhaps we should ask them. Professionally I'd like to be working more media events rather than B2B and academic events. But, I don't mind as long as I stay in event management and marketing, and as long as I'm getting paid more!

KONZERTBERICHTE

Positiverweise muss man sagen, dass Bill wirklich SEHR hübsch war... inklusive Runterhaare. Der Rest der Band hat irgendwie entweder müde oder unglücklich ausgesehen? Ich kann jetzt zumindest sagen: ja, Toms Beine sind genauso lang und Catwalk-mäßig wie die von Bill. Der Trip nach Portland war's alleine schon wert um DIESE wichtige Frage beantworten zu können. Und ich hab das alles auch nur im Rahmen meiner Zwillingsstudien zur Feststellung, dass Tom tatsächlich unter den ganzen Fetzen auch Beine versteckt, notiert! Bills Performance ist ganz anders, wenn sie Playback spielen. Irgendwie ist es besser vom Visuellen her als seine Live-Auftritte. Sein Gesicht ist lebendiger und perfekter - keine Grimassen. Er konzentriert sich auch mehr auf seine einstudierten Tanzschritte. Ich bin über das Playback Konzert nicht komplett enttäuscht, weil's eine andere Seite von Bills Bühnenpräsenz zeigt.

On a positive note, Bill looked REALLY pretty... had his floofy hair look. The rest of the band looked okay, but either tired or unhappy? I can finally confirm that, yes, Tom's legs are as long and as runway worthy as Bill's. Worth the trip to Portland just to answer THAT outstanding question. I was noticing all this purely in the interest of twinly scientific studies and in the hope of clarifying that Tom does indeed even have legs under all that fabric. Bill's performance is markedly different when they are doing playback. In some ways it is a better visual performance then his “live” ones. His face is more animated and perfect – no goofy faces. He also concentrates on more “coordinated” or choreographed dancing. I'm not completely disappointed to have seen playback because it does showcase a different side of Bill’s stage skills.

Sie haben einfach irgendwie müde oder vom Jet-lag gebeutelt oder einfach nur unglücklich über die ganze beschissene Gesamtsituation am Venue gewirkt.

ndlich wieder mal ein neues Lebenszeichen von Tokio Hotel! Das DVD-Release Grund genug für uns, um mal ein genaueres Auge auf die neue Errungenschaft zu werfen - diesmal ja nicht wie gewohnt aus der Universal-Schmiede, sondern von Tokio Hotel direkt gebastelt und nur von Uni vertrieben. Das erklärt uns zumindest die kleine Fußnote gaaanz unten auf der DVD-Rückseite. Leicht zu übersehen, wird man doch in den Credits mit dem Namen unserers Bastis erschlagen, der die ganze DVD gemacht zu haben scheint. Hoffentlich spielt er beim nächsten Mal auch die Band mit Handpuppen, dann gehören die Credits gaaaaaanz alleine ihm und nur ihm! ;D Jetzt aber zum eigentlichen, wichtigen Teil dieses Berichts.

Finally a new sign of life from Tokio Hotel!

The DVD release was certainly reason enough for us to have a closer look on the newly obtained acquisition - especially since it hasn't been released by Universal this time as we're all used to but has actually been put together by Tokio Hotel themselves and only been retailed by Uni. At least that's what the little note on the veeery bottom of the back of the DVD claims. Easy to miss, as the name of our dear Basti is all over the place, as if he had made the whole DVD himself (which he probably did). We hope that next time, he'll use sock-puppets to impersonate the band as well, then the credits are aaaaall his and his alone! ;D Now onto the really important parts of this review.

„Zu teuer“ – „witzig“ – „technisch schlecht gemacht“ – „Konzert fehlt“ – „nur für Fans“

Nach zwei Live-DVDs liegt uns nun mit „Tokio Hotel TV – Caught on Camera“ eine DVD vor, auf der ausschließlich Dokumentationsmaterial zu finden ist. Und damit kommen wir schon zum größten Manko: Dem Fehlen von Live-Material. Den Inhalt beider DVDs der Deluxe Edition (Gesamtspiellänge: 115 Minuten) hätte man locker auf eine DVD pressen können und die übrige DVD für einen Konzertmitschnitt verwenden können.

After two live DVDs, „Tokio Hotel TH - Caught on Camera“ is a DVD that includes only backstage material and nothing else. And this is also the biggest shortcoming of this production: The missing live material. The whole content of both of the DVDs of the Deluxe Edition (total running time: 115 minutes) would have easily fit on one single DVD and the remaining DVD could have been used for a concert recording.

Bewertet werden kann aber nur was da ist: Man muss leider sagen, dass man dem Produkt eindeutig ansieht, dass die Tokio Hotel TVFolgen für das Internet gedreht wurden. Die schlechte Bildqualität ist aber nur halb so problematisch wie die schlechte Tonqualität. Die Lautstärke variiert extrem, oft übertönt die Musik das Gesprochene und dass die Jungs nuscheln und sich ständig gegenseitig unterbrechen, macht die Sache auch nicht einfacher.

Well, we can only judge what we see: Sadly, one's gotta say that it's glaringly obvious that the Tokio Hotel TV episodes have been originally taped for internet usage. The bad quality of the visuals is only half as problematic as the bad quality of the sound though. The volume of the sound is heavily varying, often the musik is overtuning what's being spoken and the fact that the boys are mumbling and constantly interrupting each other ain't making the whole issue easier either.

Angenehm fällt auf, dass die bereits bekannten Episoden für die DVD neu geschnitten wurden. Ich finde es aber schade, dass man die Kommentare (so sehr wir uns über sie auch amüsiert haben) nicht ausschalten kann, und man so erst wieder auf die Youtube-Version zurückgreifen muss, sofern man alles, was in den Folgen gesagt wird, verstehen möchte.

One of the good things is that the already wellknown episodes have been newly cut for the DVD. Personally, I think it's a shame though that the comments of the boys (as much as we've all laughed about them) cannot be turned off so you gotta watch the youtube versions after all if you want to be able to understand everything that's being said in the episodes.

In Bezug auf die Auswahl der Folgen, war unser Testpublikum recht zufrieden und hat im Großen und Ganzen auch seine Highlights aus einem Jahr TH TV auf der DVD wiedergefunden.

Concerning the episodes that were chosen, our test audience was pretty pleased and overall, this DVD definitely includes the highlights of one whole year of TH TV.

Fazit: Sehr unterhaltsam, nettes Weihnachtsgeschenk für Fans, macht großen Spaß anzusehen. Leider wenig Inhalt für eine Doppel-DVD. Das Material wäre als Bonus-DVD zu einem Konzert der „1000 Hotels Tour“ besser geeignet gewesen als als eigenes Produkt.

Conclusion: very entertaining, nice Christmas present for fans, is really great fun to watch. There's sadly pretty little content for a double DVD. The material would have made a better bonus DVD for a „1000 Hotels Tour“ concert than a product of its own.

ei unseren präzisen Recherchen in allerlei Teeniemedien sind wir auf Fakten & Meldungen gestoßen, die leider nie größer hinterfragt wurden und von denen auch niemand weiß, ob sie stimmen oder nicht. Aber jetzt sind ja wir da, um der Sache mal auf den Grund zu gehen. Gestartet wird mit Tom und seinen dreckigen Geheimnissen aus längst vergangener Zeit (also 2005). - Tom wäre im nächsten Leben gerne ein Hund. Das sähe dann wohl so aus: - Tom wurde mal von einem Lehrer geschlagen. Von dieser Story existieren allerdings zwei Versioneneinmal in der Klasse und ein anderes Mal im Turnsaal. Unschuldig war er auf jeden Fall immer. :P - Tom hasst seine Füße und geht vor jeder Show gerne (?!) aufs Klo. Moooment mal! Da war doch was! Eine Fußphobie (Hobbitreferenz!) und eine innige Beziehung zu Toiletten. Ob darin wohl der Grund für sämtliche Georg-Witzchen liegt? Weil wer selbst nicht mit sich klarkommt sucht die Probleme bei anderen und so weiter und so fort. - Tom spielt Basketball. Genauso wie seine sportlichen Höchstleistungen im Skaten und BMX-en ist dieses Gerücht aufgrund fehlender photografischer Evidenzen noch nicht zu bestätigen.

Diese Fragen haben Tokio Hotel Fans diesen Herbst beschäftigt. Genau gesagt hat es über 7 Wochen gedauert, bis wir endlich Info erhielten über die „fette Tokio Hotel VMA Fan Party in einer europäischen Stadt kurz nach den VMAs“.

Those were the questions the fans have waited to get answers for all autumn long. More precisely, it took more than 7 weeks until we got info about the “cool Tokio Hotel VMA fan party shortly after the VMAs in a European city”.

Nach dieser sehr langen Wartezeit auf die ersten Infos war die Organisation recht vorbildhaft. Ein tägliches und faires Gewinnspiel, das niemanden ausschloss. Teilnahmebedingung war nur das mit dem deutschen Jugendschutzgesetz abgestimmte Alter. So weit, so gut.

After this very long waiting time, it has to be said that the organization was exemplary: A daily and fair lottery that excluded nobody. The only participation condition was the age restriction according to the german law for the protection of the youth. So far, so good.

Und auch am Tag der Party verlief die Organisation zu großen Teilen reibungslos. Strenge Eingangskontrollen (jeder Partygast wurde dreifach kontrolliert!) haben sichergestellt, dass wirklich nur die Gewinner eingelassen wurden. Freier Eintritt und offene Bar haben sich auch mit dem etwas kleineren Geldbeutel gut vertragen. Die Band war erschienen und es gab eine Autogrammstunde. Somit wurde geboten, was versprochen wurde. Nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger.

And even on party day, the organization worked smoothly. A strict inspection during entry (every party guest was searched three times!) made sure that only the winners got in. Free entry and an open bar supported party guests who were on a low budget. The band appeared and the signing session took place. In the end, everything that had been promised also happened. Nothing more, but nothing less either.

Trotz der eindeutigen Ankündigung, dass es für Zaungäste nichts zu sehen gäbe, haben sich am 30.11 ein paar Dutzend Fans vor dem Hühnerposten eingefunden, um in klirrender Kälte die 5 Stunden gemeinsam zu überdauern. Und auch hier hat die Ankündigung der Wahrheit entsprochen. Bis auf den Gang der Jungs zum Auto gab es tatsächlich nichts zu sehen. Dass sich im Laufe des Abends so einige Dramen abgespielt haben, versteht sich von selbst – aber was wäre ein Tokio Hotel Event ohne sie? Mit Ausnahme der langen Wartezeit auf die ersten Infos, war die Fanparty meiner Meinung nach im Großen und Ganzen gut organisiert. Natürlich wird es immer jemanden geben, der enttäuscht wurde, weil er sich mehr erwartet hatte. In diesem Fall kann man aber durchaus sagen, dass alle Versprechen gehalten wurden. In Tokio Hotel Foren ist jedoch eindeutig zu sehen, dass „Belohnungen“ im Gegenzug zu Votes sehr kritisch aufgenommen werden. Vom Vorwurf der Erpressung bis zu Voting-Boykott war so ziemlich jede Meinung zu finden. Deshalb kann man nur hoffen, dass Tokio Hotel nie wieder versuchen wird, ihre Fans mit einem Zuckerl derart zum Voten zu ködern.

Even though there had been an explicit announcement saying that onlookers wouldn' t have anything to look at, there still were quite a few dozen fans ready to wait 5 hours in the cold in front of the Hühnerposten that night on the 30th of November. And the announcement proved to be true one more time - except for the boys' short walk to their cars, there was nothing to see indeed. During the evening,there was plenty of drama of course – but what would a Tokio Hotel event be without any anyway? Except for the long wait for the first infos, the fanparty was as a whole well organized in my opinion. Of course there's always people who are dissapointed because they had expected more but in this case, you can say that all promises have been kept indeed. It's very apparent on various Tokio Hotel forums though, that „rewards“ that are only promised in return for votes are eyed in a very critical way. From the accusation of blackmailing to boycotting the VMA-voting altogether, almost every opionion was represented online. So I sincerely hope that Tokio Hotel will never try again to trick their fans into voting by dangling a reward in front of their faces like that.

Tokio Hotel haben's endlich gesagt: die VMA Party wird in - tadaaah - HAMBURG stattfinden. Meine liebste Stadt in der ganzen Welt. Mir war gleich klar, dass ich da hin muss und ich wusste auch, dass ich reinkommen würde. Ich krieg immer was ich will, haha. Blöderweise hab ich nicht gewonnen, aber meine Mädels und ich hatten den Plan, dieses Wochenende zum Besten der ganzen Welt zu machen. Es war das Ende eines genialen Jahres voller Tokio Hotel Erlebnisse. Wir haben also unsere besten (= kürzesten) Kleider gepackt und sind nach Hamburg gezischt. Wir und die süßen Österreicherinnen hatten ein Wahnsinnswochenende, haben die Eis-Bar und die Reeperbahn gesehen und haben uns feste besoffen.

Tokio Hotel finally announced they were gonna throw the VMA party in - drumroll - HAMBURG. My favorite city in the world. I knew right away, that I had to get in. In fact? I knew I would get in. I always get my will, haha. Unfortunately, I did not win. But me and my girls were determined to make this weekend the best one ever. For us, it was the end of an amazing year, filled with all kinds of Tokio Hotel experiences. We packed our finest (= shortest) dresses and drove to Hamburg. We had an awesome weekend with the sweet Austrians. We visited the Ice-bar, experienced Reeperbahn by night and got really drunk.

Endlich, der Partytag! Wir sind gegen 2 am Hühnerposten angekommen wo wir uns mit den Österreicherinnen getroffen haben und auch gleich die Location nach möglichen Einbrechmöglichkeiten abgecheckt haben. Würde wohl eher ein schwieriges Unterfangen werden. Wir haben viele neue und alte Freunde und auch ein paar der dänischen Gewinner getroffen! Ich hatte das Glück, dass ich eine der Gewinnerinnen dazu überreden konnte, mich mitzunehmen - ihr Vater hatte für sie gewonnen und sie hatte außer ihm keine Begleitung. Der Plan war, dass ich reinkomme und dann die anderen auch reinhole. Wir haben uns also für gute 1½ Stunden angestellt bis wir endich zum Ticketcheck kamen. Dann wieder Warterei und wieder Ticket checken. Dann die Stiegen runter und anstellen an der Garderobe. Dann schon wieder anstellen um mal in den Club reinzukommen, wo wir dann gespannt gewartet haben... bis wir um die Ecke gingen und uns wieder anstellen mussten! Gott sei Dank war's endlich die Richtige für die Autogrammstunde, um die Jungs zu sehen. Ich bin also in einen kleinen Raum, wo sie gesessen sind und das Erste, was mir aufgefallen ist, war ein Riesenbanner auf dem stand „Für die besten Fans der Welt“ und mein Herz ist dahingeschmolzen. Dann hab ich Bills seidig-glänzende Haare und sein Shirt gesehen, dass aussah, als wär's aus seiner Handtasche gemacht! Dann war ich auch schon bei den Jungs und ich konnte einfach nicht meine Augen von Bill nehmen. Er sah so toll aus und hat immerzu gelächelt. Ich hab nicht mal gemerkt, dass ich auf ne Box raufsteigen musste um die Jungs zu erreichen. Ich hatte auch meine Bill Puppe bei mir und meine Mission war, ein Bild von ihr mit dem „echten Bill“ zu bekommen. Ich hatte auch ne dänische Flagge dabei, die ich für meine beste Freundin gerne signiert haben wollte.

Finally, it was FanParty-day! We arrived at the Hühnerposten around 2pm, and quickly met up with the Austrians. We checked out the place and the potential breaking-in possibilities. It didn't seem like an easy job. We saw a lot of friends and also made new friends. We even met some of the Danish winners! I was lucky enough to persuade one of them to take me with her as her guest - her dad had won for her and she hadn't picked anyone else to bring with her. The plan was that I should try to get the others in. We were queuing for about 1 ½ hours before we finally got our tickets checked. Then we had to wait again, so we could get our tickets checked once again. Finally we got inside, after another round of ticket-checking. Then we had to go downstairs, and get in line to hand over our coats. There was yet another queue to get into the actual club. So we finally got there and got excited already... right until we turned the corner to find out there was one more freaking queue! Luckily, this time it was finally the right one to actually see the boys. I got into the small room where they were sitting and the first thing I noticed was this huge banner that said “For the world's greatest fans”. Needless to say, it melted my heart. Then I noticed Bill's silky smooth hair and his shirt, which looked like it was made out of his bag! Soon I got to the boys and I couldn't take my eyes off of Bill. He looked so amazing and kept smiling. I did not once notice that I was stepping up on a box, so we could reach the boys. I had my Bill doll with me, and my mission was to get a picture of him and the “real thing”. I also had a Danish flag, which I wanted signed for my best friend.

Ich hab Bill die Flagge gegeben und ihn gefragt, ob ich ein Foto von ihm mit der Puppe machen darf. Er hat sie gesehen, breit gelächelt und sich dann in Pose geworfen wie's nur Bill tun kann. Ich wurde dann weiter zu Tom geschoben, der meine Flagge unterschrieben und weggeguckt hat. Ich hab ihn also gefragt, ob er nicht in die Kamera gucken will, und er hat's getan. Weiter zum Hobbit. Ich hab ihn gefragt, wie ihm meine Bill Puppe gefällt, und er hat „Ja, er ist der absolute Wahnsinn!“ gesagt. Ich wär fast gestorben - er mochte meine Puppe! Georg hat die Flagge weiter zu Gustav geschoben und der hat sie dann hochgehalten, dass ich ein Foto machen konnte. Ich hab also nen Schritt zurück gemacht und bin gestolpert! Die nächste Sekunde hat dann der Secu gemeint, ich soll bitte vorsichtig sein... tolles Timing, Alter! Dunja hat mich dann weitergeschoben aber ich hatte ja noch immer nicht mein Foto mit Gustav, der inzwischen begonnen hat, meine Fahne zu schwenken und zu lachen. Ich glaube, ne Menge Fans sind an der Stelle gestolpert, haha. Ich hab dem Secu also gesagt, dass ich dieses Foto machen muss und Gustav hat noch lauter gelacht. Also hab ich mein Foto gemacht, danke gesagt und bin weiter zu der eigentlichen „Party“ obwohl ich mich ja dagegen wehre, es ne „Party“ zu nennen. Obwohl die Atmosphäre der Hammer war, war's doch irgendwie komisch. So viele Leute die so viele verschiedene Sprachen sprechen und dann noch das ständige Geplapper, was wohl als nächstes passieren würde. Viele Leute haben auch gesagt, dass die Band schon weg ist oder dass sie ein paar Lieder spielen würden. Viel zu viele Leute in dem kleinen Raum - es war so heiß! Die Bar war auch ne Enttäuschung und auch einer der Gründe, weshalb's keine echte Party war. Die Jungs kamen bald in den Raum und sind in die VIP Area hinten im Club gegangen. Ich war „glücklich“ genug, zufällig dort zu stehen, wo alle anderen Fans hingestürmt sind. Die Jungs haben ein paar Wörter gesagt, ein paar Preise verlost und haben dann mit ihren Freunden und ein paar Crewmitgliedern gefeiert.

I handed Bill the flag, and asked him if I could take a picture of him and the doll. He looked at it, smiled big, and then looked up at my camera, and posed the way only Bill can pose. I was practically pushed towards Tom, who signed my flag, and looked away. I asked him to look in my camera, and he finally did it. Then it was time for the Hobbit. I asked him in German, if he didn't think that dolly-Bill was cute. He answered in German “Ja, er ist der absolute Wahnsinn!” (Yes, he is absolutely amazing!). I was dying on the inside - he liked the doll! Georg shoved the flag to Gustav, and he then held it up so I could take a photo. I stepped back a bit, and tripped! The next second, the security guy told me to watch out. Great timing, dude! Dunja then started rushing me through, but I still hadn't managed to get that photo and Gustav had begun to wave with it, with a big smile. I think a lot of fans had tripped there, haha. I told the security that I wanted this photo, and Gustav just laughed even more. I finally got it, and said thank you, and was on my way to the actual “party” although I refuse to actually call it a “party”. Even though the atmosphere was amazing in the room, it was a bit weird. So many people speaking so many languages, plus the constant gossiping about what would happen next. Most people said the band had already left, or that they would perform some songs. There were way to many people in that little room, and it was so hot! A big minus was the non-alcohol bar. That is also one of the reasons why I personally cannot call it a real party. Soon, the boys came into the room and went to the VIP area in the back of the club. I was “lucky” enough to be standing where all the fans stormed to. The boys quickly spoke some words and raffled some prizes. They were partying by themselves with their friends and some of their crew.

Sie haben viel gelacht, viele Späße gemacht, mit Eiswürfeln geworfen, getanzt (sucht „just dance gustav“ on youtube!) und noch viel mehr! Es sah wirklich so aus, als ob sie viel Spaß hatten. Ich glaube, sie waren ein bisschen traurig, weil die meisten Fans total ausgerastet sind und Millionen Fotos gemacht haben (hey, ich auch... aber ohne umzufallen und Geschrei). Dann hab ich gesehen, wie Georg seinen Mantel genommen hat, also bin ich schnell raus gelaufen und hab gesehen, wie er und Gustav weggefahren sind. Ich konnte nicht wiederstehen und hab gerufen „Vorsicht, Gustav fährt!!!“ weil die Fans ihn total umzingelt hatten. Es war witzig, die Mädels um mich herum haben ziemlich gelacht und Gustav konnte es eh nicht hören, weil das Geschrei zu laut war, haha. Bald sind auch die Zwillinge rausgekommen und das Chaos ist noch schlimmer geworden. Mir haben die Mädels leid getan, die draußen gewartet haben, die Jungs zu sehen. Sie haben sie für vielleicht 5 Sekunden gesehen. Viele Leute haben gesagt, dass die Jungs wie Tiere im Zoo waren, weil sie von allen begafft wurden und jeder Bilder gemacht hat, aber ich finde, das stimmt nicht. Sie hatten ihre eigene Party mit den Leuten, die sie am meisten lieben. Sie haben uns einen Einblick in ihr Privatleben gegeben und haben uns gezeigt, wie sie feiern. Sie haben uns echt was Besonderes gegeben, weil sie bei uns waren. Vielleicht war's für ein paar enttäuschend, aber ich hab mich echt gefreut Gustav beim Tanzen zu Lady Gaga zuzusehen! Wenn jemand enttäuscht war, dann war das seine eigene Schuld. Es gab nen Dancefloor und es gab Musik - was braucht man sonst noch, um Spaß zu haben? Ich persönlich hatte allerdings nicht all zu viel Spaß, weil alle meine Freunde draußen waren, aber es war toll, die Jungs zu sehen und es war echt ein toller Abschluß zu nem genialen Tokio Hotel Jahr!

They smiled a lot, did a lot of joking, throwing with ice-cubes, dancing (search for “just dance gustav” on youtube, and you'll see!) and a lot more! It really looked like they were having lots of fun. I do think they were a bit sad because most fans went batshit crazy and took billions of photos (hey, I did it myself!... just without the fainting and screaming). Then I saw Georg grabbing his coat, so I quickly ran outside and managed to see him and Gustav driving away. I couldn't resist myself from screaming “Watch out, Gustav is driving!!!” because all the fans had literally surrounded him. It was fun, the girls around me got a great laugh and Gustav couldn’t possibly have heard it over all the screaming anyway, haha. Soon the twins came out as well and it got even crazier. I felt bad for the girls standing outside that wanted to see the boys so much. They saw them for only like 5 seconds. A lot of people said the boys were like animals in a zoo because of all of the people looking at them and taking pictures. I don't agree with that. They were having a party on their own, surrounded by the people that love them the most. They gave us a look into their personal life and they showed us how they party. They really gave us something special by being there with us. It may have been disappointing for some, but I really enjoyed watching Gustav go crazy to Lady Gaga! If someone was disappointed, then it was their fault. There was a dance floor and there was music. What more do you need to have fun? Personally, I did not have that much fun because all of my friends were outside. But seeing the boys was wonderful and it really was a great ending to an amazing Tokio Hotel year! Let's hear it for the boys!! *cheers*

Amerika, Forida, Orlando und ich mitten drin.

Aber da war ja noch was... ach ja, diese eine Autogrammstunde, die Tokio Hotel vor einiger Zeit bei Hot Topic hatten. Grund also, dort mal vorbei zu schauen, um mal die Lage zu checken. Mit im Gepäck zwei Arbeitskollegen (männlich und schwerst amüsiert von meinem TokioStreifzug), eine Kamera und unwiderstehliches Wimpernklimpern (das einen dann auch in der 'Bitte nur ein Foto!' Sache erheblich weiterbringt, weil man zwar bei der Verkäuferin abblitzt, aber dafür beim Geschäftsführer punkten kann und der hat die Hosen an, hohoho!). Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn - man marschiere also in das Geschäft, entdecke zufällig TH-Merch und starte dann eine verbale Attacke auf die nächststehende Verkaufsperson, ála „Nein, also sowas, Tokio Hotel kennt ihr sogar in der USA?! Die kommen aus meiiiinem Land!!“ (Lüge.) und warte auf das, was dann kommen mag. Das Hot Topic-Personal ist irre nett und sehr gesprächig und das ist das Fazit: - Tokio Hotel-Merchandise verkauft sich bei Hot Topic super. Die Musik... eher nicht. Irgendwie will jeder ein T-Shirt, aber keiner kauft CDs. Hallo, Generation Download! - Tokio Hotel sind in der USA 'im Kommen', allerdings geht das den Mädels bei Hot Topic auch alles irgendwie zu langsam. ... lustigerweise kann laut eigenen Angaben keiner der Angestellten Tokio Hotel leiden, aber hey, das ist ja bei ABBA genauso. Da hat auch angeblich keiner eine CD daheim. ;D

But something's amiss... oh right, that one signing session that Tokio Hotel had there a while ago at Hot Topic. Reason enough to go there to check what's up. With me, two co-workers (male and entirely too amused by my Tokio-Crusade), a camera and some irresistable lashes-batting (which helps to move the 'Please, only one photo!' mission along a great deal because while the sales-girls might be resistant to it, the shop-manager is not and he's the boss here, hohoho!) Long story short- one walks into the store, finds TH merchandise by accident and then proceeds to verbally attack the next best sales-girl á la „Now look at that, you even know Tokio Hotel in the USA?! They're from myyy country!!“ (Lies.) and then wait for the things that might come along. Hot Topic staff is awfully nice and rather talkative so here's the conclusion: - Tokio Hotel merchandise sells rather well at Hot Topic. The music... not so much. Somehow, everyone wants a shirt but nobody's buying the CDs. Hello, generation Download! - Tokio Hotel are just beginning 'to make it' in the states although the Hot Topic girls kinda think it's moving on rather slowly. ... funnily enough, none of the Hot Topic staff seems to like Tokio Hotel a whole lot but hey, maybe it's the ABBA-effect. Nobody admits to owning one of their records either. ;D 31

Bela B. - Die Ärzte „Viele Leute aus unserer Crew haben für Tokio Hotel gearbeitet, und die Jungs sind so jung, die haben dann auch sehr viel mit den Crewleuten abgehangen und auch mal Sachen gefragt, wo sie unsicher sind. Die wollten vermutlich einfach mal wissen, wie das so abläuft, so ein Riesenkonzert bei uns, und sind dann total verwundert, wie spontan es ist und dass wir Texte verändern und auch die Songenden variieren. Dass wir auch in Kauf nehmen, dass ein Song komplett in sich zusammen fällt. Das verstehen die nicht, weil die sich total an dem Stohhalm der Perfektion festhalten, weil man das in dem Alter sicherlich macht, wenn man dann plötzlich von Null auf Hundert so groß wird.

They probably wanted to know how things are happening at huge concerts like ours and were totally surprised at how spontaneous it is and how we're changing lyrics or varying the endings of songs. They can't understand that and are totally clutching that straw of perfection which is what most people their age are doing when they're getting so very successful so fast.

Ich habe sie nicht getroffen, wir haben keine Verbindung, und ich habe weder positive oder negative Gefühle dieser Band gegenüber. Ich habe aber auch Verständnis dafür, dass die halt Teenager in ihren Bann ziehen, weil dieser Bill ja auch extrem charismatisch ist. Das verstehe ich schon. Ich frag mich nur, wie eine Band seit drei, vier Jahren nur 3 Singles oder so draußen hat und der Erfolg immer noch wächst. Das ist seltsam.“ (lacht)

I haven't met them, we don't have any connections and I'm having neither positive nor negative feelings toward that band. I'm completely understanding that they're having teenagers hooked like that because that Bill is indeed pretty charismatic. I get that. I just gotta ask myself how a band can continue to get even more successful without more than 3 single releases in three or four years. That's weird.“ (laughs)

okio Hotel und Österreich... Moooment! Mal überlegen, ob man diese Wörter eigentlich zusammen aussprechen kann bzw. darf. Wir Fans sind der Meinung, dass es möglich ist! Wie's ausschaut, stehen wir damit aber auch alleine da. Universal hat uns entweder vergessen, wir sind ihnen egal oder sie mögen uns nicht. Lasst uns also versuchen, das Verhältnis Tokio Hotel und Österreich genauer zu erläutern. Vielleicht leuchtet uns ja dann ein, was hier eigentlich los ist – oder betreffend der Anwesenheit der Jungs in unserem Land eben nicht. Gehen wir mal davon aus, dass wir vergessen wurden. Könnte möglich sein, wenn es dabei nicht um UNS gehen würden. Ich meine, wie soll man Fans wie die österreichischen denn vergessen? Wir sind friedlich und nett, gastfreundlich... und wir haben Kaiserschmarrn, den Tom doch so gerne mag. Da der aber leider nix zu sagen hat, fällt das schon mal weg. Dann wäre da noch die Möglichkeit, dass wir ihnen egal sind. In dem Fall würde aber das Schema „Haben wir Deutschland, haben wir die Schweiz und Österreich auch!“ gelten. Und da wir ja alle wissen, dass Universal nichts von solchen Thesen hält, machen wir gleich mit dem nächsten und letzten Punkt weiter. Der da wäre, dass Universal uns einfach nicht mag. Vielleicht deswegen, weil wir auch einmal lächerlich sein mussten und einen kilometer-langen Fanbrief gemacht haben? (Das war doch eine Ausnahme!!) Oder... nerven wir einfach, weil wir da sind? Sicher ist, dass wir jetzt genauso viel wie vorher wissen. Nämlich, dass wir gearscht sind. Doch nicht verzweifeln, das nächste Konzert kommt bestimmt... Und immer schön Ösi bleiben!

okio Hotel and Austria... Waaait! Let's see if we're even able or allowed to say those two words together. The fans think it's possible, yes! But it looks like we are alone with our opinion. Universal either has forgotten about us, they don't care about us, or they don't like us. Let's bring more light into the relationship between Tokio Hotel and Austria. Maybe we'll find out what the hell is going on here - or not going on, concerning the non-presence of the boys in our country. Let's assume they have forgotten us. A possible scenario if it wasn't for the fact that we are talking about US. I mean, how can you possibly forget someone like the Austrian fans? We are peaceful and nice, friendly... and we have that Kaiserschmarrn, that Tom loves so much. But he has no saying in this anyway, so let's forget about it again. Another possibility would be they don't care about us anymore. In this case, Uni'd have to go by the „If we have Germany, we have Austria and Switzerland too!“ theory but since we all know, that they don't care much about theories like those, we'll just move onto the next point. Which would be that Universal just doesn't love us anymore. Possibly because we were pathetic enough to write a kilometer long fanletter once? (Aw, come on, that was only once!!) Or maybe... our mere existence is just annoying? One thing we know for sure, namely that we're royally fucked. But don't worry, be happy, the next concert's gonna happen for sure... And keep it Austrian! 35
