“Hiding In Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness” features first-person accounts from more than 20 young people, ranging in age from 11 to 27, who live with mental health conditions, as well as parents, teachers, friends, healthcare providers in their lives, and independent mental health experts. The film, which includes several participants from Montana, presents an unvarnished window into daily life with mental health challenges, from seemingly insurmountable obstacles to stories of hope and resilience. Through the experiences of these young people, the film confronts the issues of stigma, discrimination, awareness, and silence, and, in doing so, helps advance a shift in the public perception of mental health issues today.

Ahead of the 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in The Park at New York City’s Delacorte Theater in Central Park, “American Masters: Joe Papp in Five Acts” tells the story of this indomitable, street-wise champion of the arts. As founder of The Public Theater, Free Shakespeare in the Park and producer of groundbreaking plays like Hair, A Chorus Line and for colored girls…, Papp believed great art was for everyone, not just a privileged few. A cultural change agent for more than fifty years, Papp’s stages held up a mirror to society with work that reflected the reality of people’s lives. More than perhaps any other cultural figure in recent history, Papp worked to expand public access to the arts. “We have public libraries,” he would argue, “Why not public theaters?”

The principal originator of the “California sound,” musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and co-founder of The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson is known for his novel approach to composition and recording and is widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative and significant musicians of the 20th century. The new documentary “American Masters – Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road” follows Wilson on a drive through Los Angeles with his longtime friend and Rolling Stone editor Jason Fine. With Fine behind the wheel and Wilson selecting the music, they reflect on the formative and creative periods in Wilson’s life as they revisit the places that helped to shape his career.

Rural Development with the USDA Kathleen Williams, the Montana Director of the USDA Rural Development Office, joins the panel to discuss rural development issues in Montana. She’ll share thoughts on how to improve rural economies as we slowly exit the COVID pandemic, as well as answering your questions concerning the role of the USDA relative to rural development. Agri-Business in Montana The business of agriculture includes ranches and farms across the state, from small, family-run ventures to large operations involving thousands of acres, many employees, and huge budgets. Celebrate America Across Montana: Tim Janis with State School Choirs (2022) School choirs from throughout Montana perform in this special presentation created to spotlight our nation’s youth and pull communities together in an uplifting and inspiring celebration of music. Bicycle Corps: America’s Black Army On Wheels This program tells the story of the 25th Infantry’s bicycle trip from Missoula, Montana, to St. Louis, Missouri in 1897. The African American infantry took the trip to test a theory that the bicycle would replace the horse in transporting men for the army. With archival film, photographs and interviews with historians, the program also examines the life of the African American soldier at the turn of the century, in particular First Sergeant Mingo Sanders, the main motivator of the enlisted men. Featuring remarkable high-speed cinematography, “Indian Relay” follows three teams from different American Indian communities as they prepare for and compete in a grueling Indian Relay season. The dam was an engineering feat for the Montana Badlands, a place as harsh and desolate as any on earth. “Indigenous Business,” explores five unique Native American Made in Montana businesses in Western Montana. From candles to stir-fry, basket weaving to fish keeping, Native American business owners find ways to channel culture and heritage into trades that sustain themselves, their tribes, and their families. These stories document the resilience, creativity, and passion of Indigenous business owners. The state of Montana has a vast history of Native American heritage, and with twelve tribes and seven reservations in the state, each tribal nation boasts its own unique culture, language, and identity. Many members of these tribes utilize their cultural heritage, as well as their innate creativity, in business pursuits. Through these businesses, people across the state, country, and world are able to enjoy the rich identity that makes these businesses what they are.

Enjoy baritone Quinn Kelsey (in the role of Rigoletto) in a version that takes place in 1920s Europe, by Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher. Maestro Daniele Rustioni conducts with soprano Rosa Feola as Gilda and tenor Piotr Beczała as the Duke of Mantua. The elaborate Art Deco sets depicting 1920s Europe and the elegant costumes worn by the cast were designed by the award-winning designers Michael Yeargan and Catherine Zuber, repectively.
