Reynolds Society Captain Henry Clay Reynolds (1838-1920) served as the first president of the Alabama Girls’ Industrial
School, from 1896 to 1899, but his contributions to the school extend beyond his presidency. In 1895, he was Chairman of the Montevallo Committee, a group invited to the Governor’s office to advocate for the home city of this new girls’ school. Thanks to his efforts, Montevallo edged out cities like Jasper, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Huntsville. The Reynolds Society recognizes donors who have made cumulative lifetime gifts between $500,000 and $999,000+. These transformational gifts impact all aspects of campus from student scholarship endowments to faculty development opportunities as well as new programs and capital improvement projects Bessie Beck* Roxie Craig* William and Deborah Denson

The University is grateful for the forward-thinking actions taken by these donors, and their legacies will drive student success stories for generations to come. 3 Anonymous Donors Alabama Power Foundation, Inc. Annual Societies for gifts made between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017 Flowerhill Society Flowerhill has served as the official residence of Presidents since 1926. Originally known as the President’s Home, the home and surrounding grounds became known as Flowerhill under President Harman’s administration. Built in the Sears and Roebuck Magnolia style, the residence has become an icon for many generations of Montevallo students who receive their diplomas at the graduation ceremony held on the front lawn. Flowerhill Society members are special friends to the University of Montevallo who, as of September 30, 2017, have made faithful annual gifts for twenty (20) or more consecutive years.+ Members of this society set a philanthropic example for fellow alumni, parents and friends of the University and play a vital role in ensuring that Montevallo continues to thrive and grow with each incoming class. 1 Anonymous Donor James and Helen Allen Carolyn Rodgers Arnwine Damrell Bain Larry and Cynthia Barton Curt and Karen Bassett Betty Bosdell* Don and Jan Chance Robert C.
