About the Publication: 120K printed semiannually (60K in January & July) 4 covers (2 in January: Winter, Spring; 2 in July: Summer, Fall) Sample Covers:
Competition Rules: Works of art have a “Civil Rights, Montgomery Bus Boycott or Selma-to-Montgomery Voting Rights March” theme o Limit of 2 entries per artist (not all entries will be entered into the artshow) o Artwork Categories: Paintings, Drawings, Illustrations, and 2-D Mixed Media (no typography) o Must be 8X10 Portrait Allow 3 inches at the top for the mastehead No plastic or mylar; no matte required There will be a panel of judges comprised of community leaders and a professional artist will serve as juror Artist Categories: Professional, Amateur (includes College students), Students (high school only) Entries: o Must be brought to the Convention & Visitor Bureau on Monday, November 3, 2014 and Tuesday, November 4, 2014 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (300 Water Street, Suite 200A, in Union Station) o Entries must be picked up at the Convention & Visitor Bureau on Friday, November 14 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m Awards: Cover, and 1st-3rd place in all artist categories o Covers: $1,000 for professional, $750 for amateur and students o 1st place is $500, 2nd place is $250 and 3rd place is $100 Art show: The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau will hold an artshow for all entries sometime in 2015 at the Montgomery Area Visitor Center. In order to be included, the artists must be responsible for their artwork once it’s returned and all artwork must be ready to hang. Details for the show will be sent out in January 2015. The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau will make the ultimate and final decision for each cover selection and reserves the right to reject artwork that does not fit with the theme or is deemed inappropriate Winners of the contest will be announced during a Mayor’s Press Conference and receive media exposure on WSFA, WAKA, through Cumulus Broadcasting, the Montgomery Advertiser, and all the CVB’s social channels Exclusive rights to usage and the art: See page 2 Turn In To MCVB

Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau Montgomery Area Visitor Guide Cover Contest PRINT, REPRODUCTION RIGHTS AGREEMENT I, ________________________________ (“the artist”), enter into this agreement with the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau (MCVB), and submit an original work of art to the Montgomery Area Visitor Guide, 300 Water Street, Suite 200A, Montgomery, AL 36104, as an official entry in the 2015 Montgomery Area Visitor Guide Cover Contest for use during the year of 2015. I give the MCVB exclusive rights to publish and market the artwork and reproduce limited edition reprints of art, in compliance with the attached contest rules and subject to all of the following conditions: 1. The artist affirms that this entry is an original work of art of the artist’s own creation and is not copied nor duplicated from previously published art, including paintings and drawings in any medium or from published photographs. 2. The student artists must be in high school, in grades 9th-12th. 3. The artist understands and agrees that the top winners in the contest may be retained by the MCVB for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) months from the date of submission and that during that period the artwork may be publicly displayed or used for MCVB promotional purposes. 4. The winning covers, as prepared by the artist and submitted to the MCVB, may be retained by the MCVB until such time as prints/posters of the 2015 covers have been completed by a duly contracted printing vendor. 5. The artist will retain ownership of the original artwork. The artwork may be not be copied, reproduced, published or otherwise distributed by the artist, subject only to the rights granted by the MCVB as part of this agreement. 6. The artist grants the MCVB exclusive rights to produce the 2015 Covers through contracted printing vendors, which prints may be sold or otherwise distributed solely by the MCVB or its designees. The artist understands and agrees that the artist’s name will not appear on the cover and that the MCVB logo and/or lettering may be added to the cover or prints. The artist will get a half page feature inside the guide of which the artwork was chosen. The MCVB may choose to forego print production rights, returning those rights to the winning artist. 7. The artist also grants the MCVB the right to use reproductions of the contest winning artwork for promotional purposes as it deems useful and necessary. The artist also grants the MCVB the right to publish photographs of any entry in conjunction with the contest and to publish photographs of the cover produced from the winning entry. 8. Any and all reproductions or copies of the winning design made, caused to be made, or authorized by the MCVB under the terms of this agreement, except for the making of and printing of the 2015 Montgomery Area Visitor Guide Cover, shall identify the artist. 9. The artist agrees to sign the print reproductions of the original artwork if selected as winner and if MCVB chooses to produce prints of the artwork.
