STUDENTS PREPARE FOR SEASON OF GIVING
The start of November traditionally kicks off the "Season of Giving" as we prepare for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. At Montini Catholic the students, faculty and staff preparing to give to those less fortunate. This past Monday, student government kicked off the 22nd Annual Golden Gobbler Food Drive which benefits local food pantries. Students are proud to be responsible for donating over 328,000 items since the program's inception to food pantries throughout DuPage County."We are glad to be able to support the food pantries at Christ the King, St. Pius X and Woodridge," said Campus Minister, Michael Blanchette. "Each year we also give food to the families from Clearbrook and Eisenhower Co-Op, agencies serving families with children with disabilities. (Katie Laurinaitis '04 is a teacher at Eisenhower.) In 1997, under the leadership of the principal at that time, Jim Segredo (now president), Montini Catholic kicked off the very first Golden Gobbler Food Drive. Since then the event has become a welcomed tradition to students and their families encouraging students, homerooms and classes to bring in non-perishable food items for local food pantries. Additionally, some of the food collected is allocated for families that are "adopted" by Montini Catholic during the Christmas season. The Adopt-a-Family Program kicks off after the Thanksgiving break. Each homeroom adopts a family from local organizations and provides food for a holiday meal as well as gifts and essentials for the families. The Drama Club provides supplies for each homeroom to make a blanket for their family as

WHAT IS A POLYMER? Montini Catholic Chemistry and Physical Science students had the opportunity to participate in engaging demonstrations conducted by Mrs. Elizabeth Egan, representing PlastiVanÂŽ. The PlastiVanÂŽ Program is designed to excite students about opportunities in science and engineering within the plastics industry. Montini students were educated about the chemistry, history, processing, manufacturing, and sustainability of plastics and how the science and real-world applications relate to their everyday lives. They also took part in several fun activities involving polymers/plastics. The classroom presentations encourage students to seek careers in engineering. https://www.montini.org/cf_enotify/view.cfm?n=1595
